Hello and Happy Sunday!
On the Home Front
Sunday ~ Sledding! The snow was so light and powdery. Much better for skiing than sledding. We had to go down the drive a couple of times to pack it down enough for faster sledding, but after that it was all FUN! Cleared the snow off the canopies and dog kennel.
Monday ~ 2 hr delay for Anna and Kyle. Took them to work. Cleared the way with the Kubota for Anna to get her car out. Tired from all the exercise yesterday. Discovered bruises all up and down my legs. Especially my knees. Probably from going down the drive head first on my belly on the sled. Worth it! lol Picked up Anna and Kyle from work.
Tuesday ~ Not much of anything. I think I'm still wiped out from Sunday. In a bit of a funk.
Wednesday ~ Puttered around. Still in a funk. Made two sausage quiches for dinner. Rain at bedtime.
Thursday ~ Light dusting of snow in the morning. Trip and I got groceries and ran errands. Lunch at Culver's. Picked Kyle up after work because Anna had an appointment in Greensboro. Finished off the sausage quiche for dinner.
Friday ~ Took Kyle to work because Anna went in 2 hrs early. Worked on computer. Trip watched the Olympics and napped in my chair. Made sausage gravy biscuits with frozen biscuits since Food Lion was absolutely wiped out of the tube kind. Not a fan. Trip moved to his computer to watch the Olympics and surf the 'net. Read. Napped in my chair. Made pork chops for dinner.
Saturday ~ Woke up to an extremely windy day. The canopy covering mom's trailer and various other stuff has blown completely over. It's legs are sticking up in the air like one of those fainting goats that's been startled. Anna worked 6 hrs, but Kyle didn't have to. The kids helped me right the canopy, but it's so fucked up. I'm waiting on an estimate for an equipment shed. But I'll need to burn the brush pile that's in the spot where I want it to go. Trip helped Kyle lift the grill up onto the ice/snow on the back deck and he grilled steaks. I did baked potatoes in the microwave. I was getting dog food out of the cans and the dogs were whining, so I said, "You fatsos aren't going to starve by waiting a few minutes." Then Kyle said, "Damn, Trip. You hear how mama talks to us?" This is my life. lmao
Today I'd like to just read, but I'll need to do the cleaning I didn't do yesterday first. Trip's turn to do the litter boxes, so we'll do that in the morning. There's snow and ice fused to the back deck, but not under the overhang. Supremely glad I decided to have that built. Then I'll probably shower, write reviews, and read. I told the kids I'd make homemade mac-n-cheese to go with steak leftovers, so I'll do that late afternoon.
New Year's Resolutions/Goals
I thought I'd keep a weekly record of these so I can see if anything is getting done. 😆
More reading, less tv ~ Finished 3 books.
Go back to the beginning and revamp old blog posts ~ Nothing this week.
Exercise ~ Other than sledding? No. lol
Tidy up outside ~ Too cold and icy out.
Touching Nature: After the beautiful snow last weekend we're in a current Mystery Spot (Supernatural reference here lol) loop of melt during the day and refreeze at night. Anna continues to park up the drive because there is no way her Civic would get up the ice. The Pilot currently requires me to put it in AWD instead of just powering up unaided. Woke up Saturday to extremely gusty winds. Combined with the cold it's enough to freeze your nipples completely off.
Book News: Finished 3 books, but need to write reviews. I'm on a roll clearing out the books I should have read last year. And some from 2024. Oops.
Don't Touch That Dial!: Dropped Lucifer when Eve showed up. I absolutely cannot stand her. I'll probably go back and watch the musical episode soon. Started watching The Mentalist. Again. At some point Anna and I will continue our Lost watch, but we're stalled at the moment. Once we're done with Lost I think we'll begin our audiobook listens. She wants to start with Lemony Snicket, but I don't have them all on Chirp yet.
At the Flicks: Nope.
Cyberspace Playground: Wordle, Word Lots, Crossword Jam, Solitaire, the Finch app - if anyone wants to be friends just let me know.
Randomness: Personally, I prefer counter-clockwise to start.
Randomness: Personally, I prefer counter-clockwise to start.
Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: Stopping bad habits and replacing them with better habits is hard. Cut yourself a break if you stumble. Even if you stumble multiple times. You get points for recognizing a habit (or habits) you need to change and you get points for trying. So...keep trying. But don't set yourself up for failure. Change one thing at a time. Once the new habit is set in your routine, then you can work on another. I was terrible about flossing. So, I added it to my list in the Finch app. Yes, I use an app to help me. The fact it's kind of like a game makes it more fun, too. Use whatever you need to in order to achieve your goal. What other people do doesn't matter. What works for you is the only thing that matters.
That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.
