Hello and Happy Sunday!
On the Home Front
Sunday ~ I honestly can't remember what I did. Probably cleaned and maybe lounged around? I'm pretty sure I did some blog posts since I knew I'd have to roll up the ethernet cable on Monday.
Monday ~ Raul and his crew came to scrape the popcorn ceilings in the main area. Took them all day. They also started on some of the drywall.
Tuesday ~ Raul and crew worked on the drywall. They want to get the kitchen area done in case the cabinets are ready sooner than expected. Anna and I stopped for a few items at CVS and got our flu shots. Later, Anna left for therapy and realized her car was leaking gas so she took Kyle's car. Also, the ABS and TPMS lights were on. I'll have to get it towed tomorrow.
Wednesday ~ Raul and Rico did more drywall and mudding. Started priming the ceilings. Had Anna's car towed. Found out a large rodent (i.e a squirrel since I've never seen a rat here) had chewed the gas line on top of the tank. Then found out the wires to her tire sensors were chewed which is why those lights were on. Fucking squirrels.
Thursday ~ More sanding of the drywall. And mudding the linen closet and Trip's soon-to-be "closet". Anna, Trip, and I got groceries after dropping a box off at the wasband's. We had breakfast at Pano's, too. Picked up Chinese food for dinner before Anna and Trip went to first Oliver's soccer game at 6:00 then Kyleigh's game at 8:00.
Friday ~ Raul and guys finished sanding and started painting. The wasband asked yesterday if I could pick up a furniture piece at the Hospice Thrift store in my Pilot if he bought it and said okay. I had forgotten yesterday to exchange a refund check for cash that I got from the dentist that was made out to him, so I figured I could do that and pick up Anna's car. I left Trip home to watch the dogs in the livingroom, so I didn't have to confine them to the small office space. Now I have lights on in my Pilot. The engine light, VSA, TMV-4, and ! in triangle are all lit. The only ones lit when I hooked the scanner up to it was the engine light that gave a misfire on cylinder 2 as the reason. So, this coming week I'll need to drop it off so Timothy can figure out what's up.
Saturday ~ Since Kyleigh and Oliver's soccer games were cancelled due to rain, we went to evil Wallyworld to pick up a 50' ethernet cord (our wifi really sucks with the tower in the livingroom), an HDMI cable for her to hook up a 2nd monitor, and a few other things since we were there. Then came home and started the cleaning. Since I got such a late start I didn't finish until nearly 6:00. Kyle grilled. I ate dinner then finished up this post.
Today I wanted to clean the ceiling fans while they had them down, but they put them back up first thing Friday morning while I was busy. lol So I'll probably clean those today. I'll probably help Anna tidy her room. I need to write a review for a BBNYA2024 post that is very very late.
A Month With No Kitchen ~ Renovations started 9/15. We have a grill, toaster oven, microwave, and a plethora of take out options.
Week of 9/22
Monday ~ Bojangles
Tuesday ~ Subway
Wednesday ~ Leftover Subway (except Trip who ate all his yesterday, so he had Uncrustables)
Thursday ~ Chinese
Friday ~ leftover Chinese
Saturday ~ Kyle grilled ribeyes and we baked potatoes in the microwave
Sunday ~ Probably leftovers from yesterday
Construction News ~ Most of the tedious work is done. Drywall and painting. There's still some painting to do, but I think the drywall is done. They may have to mud the hall ceiling and sand it, but won't know until the popcorn is scraped off and they can see what it looks like underneath. Cabinets are coming Monday or Tuesday. Raul will be back Weds to paint the cabinet bases and scrape the popcorn ceiling in the hallway. Painting the hall, linen closet, and the "closet" in Trip's soon-to-be room should be on the agenda. No word on the casement window. I think once the bases are set then the counter guys come to do their template.
Touching Nature: Hot and humid, some rain. Miserable on Friday. Saturday, temps dropped and it rained some more.
Book News: Nothing to report here. I am so fucking far behind on everything. BBNYA2025 announced the 17 Finalists (there ended up being a 3-way tie this year!), so I'll be getting my 3rd Round books soon. There's only one I can't judge because I've already read it, but I'm happy it made it to the Finals because I loved it!
Don't Touch That Dial!: Some Buffy. Some Angel. I should really just cancel Disney, Hulu, and ESPN. It's such a pain because it runs through Verizon. But Disney is so UGH with the whole shitting all over the First Amendment problem. And I really only run the internet cables on the weekend. The wifi in my office absolutely sucks ass. And I do not do certain things on my phone.
At the Flicks: Nope.
Cyberspace Playground: Wordle, Word Lots, Crossword Jam, Solitaire, jigsaw puzzles, the Finch app - is anyone wants to be friends just let me know.

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: I had a nugget I thought of a few days ago and I did not write it down. Dammit. So, since it's hurricane season and there's a tropical storm heading our way, my nugget is this: Be ready for severe storms. Have food and water on hand and a manual can opener if your lids aren't the pop off kind. Batteries, candles, some cash (in case ATMs/store registers) are down, and fuel up your vehicles and gas cans. Especially if you have a gas generator. Propane if you use it for your grill or camp stove. Make sure your meds are stocked up and handy in case you have to bug out. That goes for pets, too. Get your laundry up-to-speed, especially towels and blankets. Having a power pack (make sure it's charged) for charging phones is helpful, too. I have one that can charge 4 things at once. Plus, I think my new generator can charge stuff. I should really read that manual.
That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

Friday Freebies and some discounted bundles attached to those.
It's exciting to see all the progress! I'm sure you can't wait to have the kitchen back so you can stop eating out all the time, lol. Hope this is a good week for you!
