On the Home Front
Sunday ~ Was mostly a relaxing day. I puttered around doing some laundry and some other non-strenuous things. Then Anna's friend Shelby came by to hang out and they got out the card table and paints and did some crafting. While they did that I did some reading and napping then made Mississippi Pot Roast for dinner.
Monday ~ Anna and I hung up 2 boxes of Summer shirts in her closet and put away shorts and jammies. There are 2 boxes of winter stuff to do, but that's for another day. On the way to get Kyle we stopped by a furniture store that is going out of business and bought a power recliner for her room so I can have my chair back. I'll have to pick it up tomorrow in the Pilot since we were in Kyle's Civic. Then she went to Goodwill for interview clothes and a stop at a friend's who had some pants.
Tuesday ~ Trip and I went in the morning to pick up Anna's chair. When we got back the wasband was there to drop off Trip's insurance card and I sent him along with some of his stuff and some food to donate to his church. He helped bring in the chair and then said he might go see what the store had. He texted later that he wanted to buy a chair and asked if I could pick it up in the Pilot. Since I told him I would when he was here, I said I'd do it after getting Kyle from work. So after dropping Kyle home I met him at the place, picked up the chair, and dropped it at his house. In the meantime, Anna had a job interview then 2 appointments. Tuesday was a busy day.
Wednesday ~ The electrician finished the generator set up. Yay!! I have now guaranteed that the power will never go out again. lmao In case you're wondering, its house will have to be removed before firing it up. Its only purpose is to protect from weather. The "lid" has handles and was made with corrugated plastic to make it lightweight for me in case the kids aren't here to help me remove it.
After the electrician left (only took about 30 minutes), Trip and I went out to do the yardwork. I sent him up on the roof with the backpack blower to blow all the tree shit off the gutter guards. Then he did the weed eating and I did the mowing with the new mower. Even though it was not as hot as it has been, the humidity was still high and we were both drenched like we were Richard Simmons sweatin' to the oldies. I also may have joined eHarmony. Eeek. (note: I haven't done anything with it since this day lol)
Thursday ~ Andrew, Larry, and Hunter came to do the mantel pieces. I took my time picking which sections I wanted, so they could cut them and I'm happy with the result. It still needs a clear coat for protection against spills since I opted not to stain. I don't anticipate putting anything there that will spill, like water or candles, but better to be prepared for future me. Raul will come this week to do that and touch up some paint. And the stone guy will need to fix a few spots. I think all the hammering knocked some mortar loose. In any case, I'm very happy with the result. Anna thinks the pieces are a bit too large, but she's used to the old mantel that's smaller. Before long, we won't remember the old one except in pictures. While all that was going on (it took all day), Anna played Schedule I on her computer (a game where she sells drugs lmao - the boys were already playing it and they bought her and me copies on Steam) and I drafted and scheduled some blog posts.
Friday ~ I did some shopping and dragged Trip and Anna along. Anna said she needed a haircut, so we made that the first stop. Trip said he also needed a cut and by the time Anna was done and Trip nearly so, there was a lull, so I got mine cut. lol We hit Biggby coffee for some drinks since it's right by Great Clips and I got a Mango Blood Orange Creme Freeze. Delicious! Trip got Chocolate Chip Cookie Creme Freeze which he loved and Anna got Banana Bread Creme Freeze and she liked it. Next stop was the pet store for food and some Weruva gravy packs for a sick kitty at Sparkle Cat Rescue which we dropped at Town n Country Vet for them to pick up. Then it was off to Harbor Freight to pick up a miter saw stand that I had a coupon for and some other things. I showed Trip and Anna my list then sent them off to hunt and they took off like little kids on a mission. LOL After spending more than anticipated (that always happens when Anna goes along lol) we went to BJ's for gas while Anna placed a mobile order for Culver's. We picked that up and went home, unloaded the Pilot, ate too much, and then I left to pick up Kyle from work. I fed the furries, did the dishes (I can't wait to put the new dishwasher in the new kitchen), cleaned and refilled the hummingbird feeders then Anna helped me fill the rest of the feeders. I finished up with a mug of tea and updating this post before heading to bed around 9:30 since I have to get up at 4am to take Kyle to work. For those who follow haphazardly, yes, I drive my adult son to and from work. He has a license, but driving makes him anxious. He pays me to chauffeur him in his car using his gas. When he works overtime I get up at 4am to take him, get home around 5:20 then go back to sleep until 8. When he's not working OT I get up at 5:30am and don't go back to sleep after. I actually prefer when he's working OT since I can get some more sleep in. He doesn't like the 10 hr days. Except for those nice paychecks. 💰💰 I enjoy listening to audiobooks during the commute, so it's a win-win for me - I get paid and I get to listen to books.
Saturday ~ Took Kyle to work, slept, got back up, fed the furries, walked the dogs (I saw another unneutered stray dog out the window so I had Trip and Anna walk with me in case we had a repeat of a month or so ago), cleaned the laundry room (and litterboxes with Trip since it was his turn), and the kitchen before I had to leave at 10:30 to pick up Kyle. Came home, put Anna's tires in her trunk and left to meet my stepson so he could mount the tires only to get a text that he forgot. sigh So we took Anna's car through the carwash and vacuumed it out then tried to get gas at BJ's but it was crazy busy and several pumps had cones out. So we went to Waffle House to eat, picked up Bojangles for Kyle, I dropped them at home then took Anna's car to get gas at Sheetz. Next up was cleaning my bathroom. Anna left to go see I Know What You Did Last Summer with April and Kyleigh. I finished my bathroom and started to vacuum when I decided to finally take my window AC out of my window. Again. Let's hope I did not trigger yet another break down of my new HVAC. I cleaned the window and Kyle carried the unit out to the shed. For the billionth time I wish I had a garage. Trip and Kyle walked the dogs after they were fed and I showered. We have not seen the dog again, so hopefully he is gone. Then I put a pizza in the oven for me (the boys had just got theirs out) and waited for it to bake while I finished up this post. It is so fucking hot out. Gross! 💀
Today Relaxing is on the menu. And reading. I have some laundry to do, but that's about all I'm willing to do even though I have 100 million things I could be doing. I'm going to take another break.
Construction News ~ I put the deposit down on Phase II. Now we wait for Andy to build my cabinets. This gives me time to go through stuff and pack up.
Touching Nature: So hot. So humid. So gross.
Book News: I have something like 37 reviews to write. Nearly all of them are audiobooks which tells you how my reading is going this year. I sent Anna a list of the ones I need graphics for so once I have them I'll try to start whittling away at them.
Don't Touch That Dial!: Nearly done with CSI:NY. Not sure what I'll be watching next. If anything. Who am I kidding? I'll be watching something. Or more likely, rewatching something I've seen numerous times. lol
At the Flicks: Not me, but Anna, April, and Kyleigh went to see I Know What You Did Last Summer.
Cyberspace Playground: Wordle, Word Lots, Crossword Jam, Solitaire, jigsaw puzzles, the Finch app - is anyone wants to be friends just let me know.
Randomness: I totally agree with this.
Randomness: I totally agree with this.
Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: Never count yourself out.
That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

Another busy week. Still another month of too hot for me. Hopefully it will cool a bit later this week.
ReplyDeleteAnne - Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
Thankful for the cool weather!
DeleteMy son is on the spectrum and has his license but doesn't own a car or drive for the same reason. If only he could keep a job. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteKyle has a good job. Thankfully. Trip is another story. With his autism, OCD, anxiety, ADHD, and schizoaffective disorder, it's hard for him to stay on track and focused. He's a big help around the house though. Hopefully your son will find the right job that keeps him engaged.
