Hello and Happy Sunday!
On the Home Front
Sunday ~ What did I do? I can't remember! And why the hell can't I remember to update this post daily? Or at least every couple of days?!
Monday ~ Today is my eldest spawn's 40th birthday. Wow. Where the fuck does the time go?!
I had absolutely no motivation to do anything. I did strip my bed, washed everything, and put it all back. That's it. I have 100 million things that need done and I did not a single one of them. Oh well.
Tuesday ~ Electrician came to install Anna's closet light. Yay! Anna got a notice at work that they would no longer be needing her. Her last day is Friday. The company bought a new mill over an hour away and Anna was going to try commuting that distance. They were working with her to train her to do something other than pulling orders then...bam. Was just like, lol. Just kidding. We won't need you. What a shitty company. Honestly? I'm glad she won't be working for them anymore and I certainly did not want her commuting 2 hrs a day. Now she can apply to places closer and in the meantime she has time to unpack and organize her room. I see it as a positive but I understand why she's depressed. It rained again in the late afternoon and fucked up the driveway. Again. Not quite as bad as last Thursday, but bad enough for me to be out there shoveling barriers again. This is total bullshit!
Wednesday ~ Trip and I were going to do the grocery shopping, but we stopped at Lowe's first for landscape blocks and since what I bought came to over 600 lbs we decided to take them home, unload, and work on the driveway. It was so hot and humid. I put Trip on the Kubota and sent him up the drive while I worked on the blocks but then thought I was going to die. My heart was racing and the sweat was rolling off me in rivers. So I rested then told Trip to hydrate while I used the Kubota. I dug out a huge spot in front of the house and used the gravel/dirt as a gigantic barrier against any further rain. Come at me now, bitch!
The guys who installed the wood burning stove (Jason and James) came to see if they could attach my dragon brackets and side shelves. Apparently the stove I picked, called the Intrepid, was not designed to take those brackets and the manufacturer never said anything. I was disappointed, but they weren't going to give up. They worked on it for a couple of hours and, viola!, did it! I'm so happy!
Thursday ~ Electrician came back to finish hooking up generator and hit a snag. A wrong part was ordered so it will be completed next week. He did get some of the work done though. And emptied my gas can into it, which only filled it about halfway. And would you believe, for all the money I paid for the thing, it did not come with oil?! WTF?! My new push mower came with oil, for fuck's sake! After he left, Trip and I actually did get the grocery shopping done. It rained late afternoon (surprise! not) and the barrier mostly held. We had a small breach in the middle that Trip fixed. It might need a bit more dirt there. I'm calling it Helm's Deep.
Friday ~ Both Pack Rats were picked up. Yay!! Then Trip and I made a quick stop at Food Lion for a couple things I forgot and stopped to fill both gas cans and the diesel can. I called a guy to get a quote on gravel. He'll either be by Saturday or Monday.
Saturday ~ Took Kyle to work, came home, went back to bed, got up at 8:30, fed the furries, walked the dogs, puttered around on the internet until 10:30 when it was time to go pick him back up. Came home and did the cleaning. Then put a whole chicken with baby potatoes, carrots, and onion in my Dutch oven for dinner. Lots of thunder and some rain. Again.
Today I pretty much want to read. I may not be able to help myself doing a few things, but I will try to resist. I hope to do some blog visiting, too. I've just not had the energy. This year is taxing all my strength.
Construction News ~ I'm waiting on completion of the generator hook up and the installation of my mantel, both of which should be this coming week. I've approved the cabinet drawings and next week I'll put the deposit down for Phase II. I'll talk some more with the contractor about it, but I believe we'll wait until Andy has the cabinets nearly complete then the contractor will come in and start tearing things out. The drywall/painting guy (Raul) will need time to do his thing, too before the cabinets are installed. This is the part that will be much harder because it's all the main areas and we'll need to keep the dogs and cats out of it. The cats can be locked into Anna's room now that it's done and bigger. But Artemis and Rocky will be confined to my office which is not a large space. Eevee will not be affected in my bedroom and master bath. Except at night when she will not be allowed to roam the house after Artemis is crated. Speaking of which, I'll have to make room for her crate in my office.
All of this to say, we should have some time to get things moved around, Anna's boxes unpacked in her room, stuff stacked in the new livingroom, and the kitchen & laundry room packed up. Lots to do, but I think we can do it in time.
Touching Nature: Rain, rain, RAIN. Hot and humid. Walking outside is just gross. Had to fix the driveway yet again. There is so much I want to do outside, but I am not killing myself in this heat and humidity to do it. I have plenty to do inside, but it's not the same. The outside is so ugly. lol
Book News: Nothing new to add here. I have so many reviews to write. Ugh.
