Hello and Happy Sunday!

A variety of Bundtinis for my birthday!
I also had a cheesecake my friend made.

On the Home Front:  This post is late. I know it says posted yesterday, but today is actually Monday the 24th. lol I did not get anything done over the weekend since we were gone, so I will be playing catch up this week.

Sunday ~ I honestly can't remember what I did last Sunday. So much going on I should probably update this post daily.

Monday ~ Nothing going on with the renovations today because of the rain. It poured. Ugh. Everything is now a muddy mess. Nancy came to do the dogs' nails and brought me a homemade cheesecake (with cherry pie filling for topping because that's what I like) and fresh baked bread for an early birthday treat. Delicious!!

Tuesday ~  Masons showed up at 7:30 to get started. A load of gravel was dumped for them then a load of something else for backfill. It's a really fine aggregate. I call it construction glitter because it's sparkly and that shit is everywhere.

Wednesday ~ It's my 57th birthday!! I don't feel a day older than 56. The masons were out to do more masonry shit on the additions. Duke Energy showed up to move the meter. Yay! I did not get as much reading and relaxing as I like to do on my birthday so I will do it another day. Probably a Sunday since there will be stuff going on for months yet. I opened presents then we had bundtinis from Nothing Bundt Cakes. Delicious!

Thursday ~ Masons were out in the morning to finish and do clean up. Trip and I ran some errands and picked up a few groceries.

Friday ~ I ran to Subway to pick up sandwiches for dinner at the beach this evening and made a stop at CVS to pick up Anna's scripts. Inspector came to check masons work. Haven't heard if it passed, but it looks good to me. Trip and I fed the critters. Then I did the packing for the beach among 101 other things. We left for Carolina Beach around 5:30 and got in around 9:00 to see that there was some kind of convention going on. Good thing we booked last month. We settled into the room then ate our Subway sammies and watched a bit of tv before heading to bed.

Saturday ~ Woke up for the sunrise. Trip was already on the balcony with a mug of tea. Hotel water and a microwave does not make good tea. Gross. We will have to pack our kettle next time and grab a gallon of water. We went across the street to have breakfast at Kate's Pancakes. Then we headed to Wilmington to tour the USS North Carolina. We were there about 4 hrs or so. Pretty fucking cool! We hit the gift shop then headed back to Carolina Beach stopping at a Bojangles for some lunch. Then we swung into a Breeza (big beach shop) for some swag before going back to the hotel to crash. Walked to the Sea Witch for dinner. Pretty good food and a cool place. Stopped at the Fudgeboat on the way back for some fudge and chocolate covered strawberries, hit the Breeza on the boardwalk for a swimsuit since I forgot to look earlier and a hoodie for me and Anna because it got a bit chilly out with the wind. Since Anna and I were warm now we strolled down to the completely dark and not at all creepy beach to take some fun pictures (night mode produces some hilarious photos), see if the crabs were out (they were not), and just hang out for a bit. We stopped at the Bistro in the hotel and picked up something called a Miami Vice (rum and some other stuff mixed in which was pretty tasty) then headed up to the room to change into comfy clothes and play Cards Against Humanity. I called for bedtime after I won. Woot!

Today we had breakfast at Kate's Pancakes. I took Trip to Kure pier which turned out to be closed so he fished from the surf. Kyle went along and helped me search for shells. Anna stayed in the room to relax. Then we went back, packed up, checked out, loaded the Pilot, and went down to the beach one last time before heading for home. On the way we stopped at McKay's in Mebane so Trip could look at the Funko Pops. We rolled in to the homestead around 4:30ish. Unpacked the Pilot and our bags, fed the furries, ordered Dominos then relaxed.

Touching Nature: Not horrible. Some rain, some warm temps, and perfect weather at the beach.

Book News: I read a favorite book on my birthday and another the day after, but I have not much to report here.

Don't Touch That Dial!:  Still watching CSI:NY but I'm at the episode where Stella goes to Greece about those stupid coins and I'm just fucking sick of that storyline so I'll probably skip it.

At the Flicks: Nope

Cyberspace Playground: Wordle, Word Lots, Crossword Jam, Solitaire, jigsaw puzzles, the Finch app - is anyone wants to be friends just let me know.

Randomness:  Yessssss! Pet the pretty!!

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: Everything in US is fuckling terrible right now. Do not feel bad if you need to check out once in awhile. Unplug from the news, social media, or anywhere else that is testing the limits of your sanity. Do something for yourself. When you are ready, then jump back into the fray. What we are going through is not going to be a quick and easy fix. It's a long haul and we need to have periodic breaks if we are going to make it out on the other side.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

Some were free, some with credits, and some because even though I'm boycotting Amazon in general (last purchase 2/22), I'm still trying to support authors who need to use the evil place.

    1. It was pretty nice! I think I may have had bundt cake at some point in my life and not been too impressed. But these tiny ones are delicious!
