Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front: I'm so fucking tired of the rich and powerful breaking laws and nothing ever happens to them. This country is being burned down to the ground. It's horrifying and so unreal that I feel like I'm in an apocalyptic movie. All I can do is keep resisting in any way I can. I will not go gentle into that good night. This country belongs to the American People, not oligarchs. There are way more of us than them and as long as we don't roll over like the Germans did in the 1930s then we can overcome this clusterfuck of an administration.

Anyway, this week found me getting up at 4am to take Kyle to work, running errands, dodging icy cold rain, and taking Anna to the airport so she could fly to Alaska to see her boyfriend.

The county inspector finally made it out on Friday and the plans were approved. The additions will not interfere with the well or septic. Just waiting on the official paperwork. I'm not sure if the contractors will wait until they have that paperwork in hand or go ahead and get started. Since tomorrow it's supposed to be chilly but dry, Trip and I will move the rest of the stuff off the front porch and back deck (not much left to move) so we'll be ready for demolition.

Since Friday was Valentines Day we ordered Domino's Pizza. The order took 75 minutes to get to us. Ridiculous. We probably won't order from them again in a long time. We're going to be cutting back on a lot of things, not spending our money so companies and their billionaire owners can go fuck themselves. I can't do anything about the fact I'm renovating. It really really needs done, but I don't have to spend any extra on anything. I'm seriously thinking of canceling Amazon Prime and leaving Facebook, too. I locked my account on Twatter but I've been thinking of just deleting it. Two reasons why I haven't yet: 1. I've been there since 2011 2. I don't want anyone else to have my handle. I'm seriously hoping that one day in the near future Musk will have to sell to pay his legal fees. I can hope, right? Hope is about all we have at this point.

Saturday I started the cleaning while Kyle was at work and got most of it done before leaving to pick him up at 11. We did the usual Dairy Queen stop, had to get gas at BJ's then he bought us (and Trip) breakfast at Biscuitville. Finished the cleaning, took a shower, doom scrolled for a bit then ate dinner while watching CSI:NY.

Touching Nature: Rain and chilly. In fact, 4" of rain earlier this week. We have been as close to freezing as we can possibly be without getting freezing rain, sleet, or snow. Supposed to rain all weekend and I haven't checked the rain gauge yet today. Snow is forecasted this week and colder weather moving in. We'll see how it goes.

Book News: Slow going here. I did write two reviews that needed done. So that puts me down to...um...I think 25? Eeee...

Don't Touch That Dial!:  CSI: NY. That's it. Just starting season 2. When Anna gets back from Alaska we'll finish Lucifer and then we can start listening to audios in the evening while we color. Or if she's doing other things, I'll read.

At the Flicks: Nope

Cyberspace Playground: Wordle, Word Lots, Crossword Jam, Solitaire, jigsaw puzzles, the Finch app - is anyone wants to be friends just let me know.

Randomness:

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: Does anyone else have a towel demotement system in place? When my kitchen or bath towels/cloths get too raggedy I demote them to the laundry room for cleaning, furry barf/poop/pee mess clean up, or car use). When they deteriorate more I demote them to one of the sheds. When they are nasty from use out there (usually cleaning up gas or oil) they get thrown away. Surely I'm not the only one that does this. Right?

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.
