Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front:  Not as busy a week. Anna and I went shopping on Sunday. Trip and I went shopping on Monday. We had meat, cheese, crackers, and fruit for New Year's Eve. We watched the ball drop, blew our noisemakers, had champagne, and went outside to scream at the sky. New Year's Day, Jess worked, Anna, Trip, and Kyle went to see Nosferatu, and Ellie and I contemplated crime (my suggestion), but she said no. Sad face.  Took down most of the Christmas decorations. The outside lights are still up as well as the lights around the fireplace and down the hallway. We'll keep those up a bit longer because the lights are my favorite part of the season. Friday and Saturday, I did the regular weekly cleaning as well as the first weekend of the month cleaning while also taking down decorations and moving stuff back where it belongs. 2024 was the last Christmas for the tree in that particular spot. 24 years. This year it will be in the new addition (which should be complete this Spring) and a new tradition will begin.

The family farm sale was completed on Thursday and was funded on Friday. I'm sad that 56 years on the farm (growing up and visiting) is over. However, I'm excited that a new chapter has begun. The feelings are complicated. I'm down then up then down then up. It's exhausting. Hopefully I'll work through it all soon. In the meantime, I'm paying off the marital debt for the divorce since I got the house. Again, pesky feelings.

Since I did all my adulting for the week I think I can mostly relax today. Anna and I are going to do each others feet (soak, massage, lotion) then color in our matching daily coloring books since we're both behind. Already. That's ok. We'll get caught up. I'm not pressuring myself with resolutions. Things will get done eventually.

Touching Nature: It got nipples-cutting-glass cold. It's nice having a fire in the fireplace.

Book News: No news to report here. I did listen to an audiobook or two, but did not get any reviews written. Oh! I have started going back and "fixing" old blog posts. The cringe at my first posts is real. Yikes. My goal is one per day. I'm behind already, but I'll get caught up.

Don't Touch That Dial!:  Still watching Lucifer.

At the Flicks: Nope

Cyberspace Playground: Wordle, Word Lots, Crossword Jam, Solitaire, jigsaw puzzles, the Finch app - is anyone wants to be friends just let me know.

Randomness:

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: Actually, good advice for everyone, not just teenagers. If there are books on this list you haven't read, it's never too late.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. Wishing you a lovely New Year! I'll be excited to hear more about your addition. This past week should have been more calm but instead my daughter had 3 medical appts. This week is only 1. I'm not looking forward to the cold, but we will do some projects.

  2. A Necromancer Called Gam Gam. Now that is a title that makes me want to read the book! Glad you had a nice New Years. Adulting can be a real pain. Hope you have a nice week!

  3. Sounds like a nice New Year's Eve. We stayed at home and celebrated with snacks, champagne, the pups and the Twilight Zone marathon on Sy-Fy. You are a horrible enabler this week because I just added three books to my TBR from your post alone. Hope you have a wonderful week!
