- January ~ December: Just going to mostly play it by ear. However I do have a list of things I plan to aim for:
- More reading, less tv
- Go back to the beginning and revamp old blog posts - 1 per day
- Exercise
- Continue with the No Cooking M-W-F-S
- Tidy up outside
- Sort through everything as we pack up for renovations. Keep, donate, recycle or dump as much as needed
On the Home Front: I really need to stay up-to-date with this kind of post. What the hell went on this year? Basically what I jotted above in the Flip Back category.
However, the year in a nutshell:
In February I learned my husband was not the man he portrayed himself to be. I secretly planned a divorce and hoped I could make it to the end of the year, but lasted until October 13th. I kicked him out and the kids and I are learning to live without him. I've put in many job applications and can't even get a phone interview which pisses me off. I have lots of experience for the jobs I'm applying to, but apparently no one wants to hire a 56 year old woman who hasn't had a paying job since 2008. In two days the family farm will be sold and I'll have some breathing room. I did get the house, but have all the debt to pay. I'm grateful I'll be in a position to do that but hate that I can. Because the only reason I can is because mom died in 2023. I hate everything right now. My kids have stepped up and we'll be doing some financial talking in January because as much as I'd like them to keep saving their money, they'll have to start contributing to the household. They have no objections as they can't even afford to go out on their own in this market.
There. That's about it. I think. Happy New Year! I hope 2025 is better than the previous years.
Touching Nature: It's actually been fairly nice this year. There was a week's stretch early on of below 0º weather (with about -20º wind chill) resulting in some frozen pipes under the house, but otherwise not very cold. A decent long Spring if a bit too wet. Not as hot a Summer with just a few stretches of 100º weather instead of weeks on end and more rain including 8" in 24 hrs courtesy of former Hurricane Debby. Fall temps started in August which was weird but very welcome. Hurricane Helene in September did not affect us, but Western NC got hammered. It will be a long time before they are ok. November and December was strange with a days of cold weather followed by days of warmer weather and just set that on repeat. On the cold days we've been using the fireplace for the last time. I'm having it removed in the renovations and will be getting a wood burning stove instead.
Book News: Read more than I thought thanks to audiobooks. 81. However, I still have 24 reviews to write. Yikes!
Don't Touch That Dial!: Finally watched Burn Notice. Then I mindlessly rewatched several favorites: Criminal Minds, Cold Case, Supernatural, The Mentalist, Lucifer, CSI. The only one I actually finished in my rewatch was The Mentalist.
At the Flicks: I've seen: Deadpool & Wolverine

Cyberspace Playground: Just some games on my iPad, Pokemon on my phone, Wordle, and Finch. I have a Steam account now (AVoraciousReader), but I probably won't be playing until the house renovations are done and I can set up the gaming computer my eldest spawn built for me.

From the library
I actually got a few books this year. Mostly Agatha Christie.
Physical books
I got some for birthday and Christmas and bought a few for myself.
Tour Books
Many. So, so many.
Review Requests
Several but I currently only accept from a few authors I love.
Freebies
I cut back again. A lot. I did have a few spurts of grief induced clicking sprees. But I mostly avoided clicking.
