Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front:  Trip had a dental appt Monday then we went to Lowe's and got some plants and seeds. Worked outside Tuesday and Friday. Weds it sprinkled very briefly in the morning so I worked on the blog. Thursday grocery pick up and several other errands. Saturday I did the usual cleaning and worked some more on the blog. Today I hope to read. And maybe visit blogs. I really need to give all 4 dogs a bath. I'll probably end up tackling that. I'm still so tired. Tired of everything. This is not how I pictured my life at 56.

Touching Nature: Did quite a bit outside though not enough. Mowed a bit but left most of the flowering weeds for the bees. I'll do a proper mow this week. I honestly don't have much grass. It's nearly all weeds of some kind. Our friend came and did a pest spray to kill the bitey bugs and ticks. I loathe ticks. I think next year I'm going to get a few chickens. They'll have a feast because we live in the woods and even spraying only works for a short time. I also did a bit of clean up, burned brush, and Trip & I split the last pile of wood and stacked it. We had to make a rack first. I'll need to make several more before we can move all the wood from under and around the deck. We're tearing that off next year when the additions are being done. There are going to be tons of changes to the house next year and we have less than a year to get things situated outside.

Book News: I have 11 reviews still to write. Some are for this week. Though I could move them. I may knock a few out today. Speaking of books...

BBNYA2024 is still looking for panelists to judge books. First round is easy, just 2,000 words for each book. There is a scoresheet to fill out after you read each entry. Round 2 is 10,000 words. Takes a little longer, but not too much. Round 3 is the full book with about 3 months to read them. Most people read 3 books, but it's totally up to you. There are preference sheets that get sent out before the contest starts so you can mark your preferred genres and such. There are also trigger warnings. It's really a great contest to be a part of. I've been involved from the start and this will be my 5th year. I've discovered some really great authors I probably wouldn't have come across if it weren't for the contest.

If you're an author then here's the link for entering your book with all the rules and such.

Don't Touch That Dial!:  Still sporadically watching Supernatural. Since Anna is in Arizona until Saturday I haven't been watching Bones. We're still in season 1 of our rewatch of The Mentalist.

At the Flicks: Nope. I wouldn't mind seeing the Ghostbusters movie.

Cyberspace Playground: Wordle, Word Lots, Crossword Jam, Solitaire, jigsaw puzzles

Randomness:

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: Just take one day at a time.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. I don't do much garden work... My husband loves it and I hate it so I leave him to it! Although I always go with him to the garden centre when he asks. Our local one has a nice little tea room so he buys me cake. :)

  2. Nice book haul. The new editions to your home sound both exciting and exhausting. Looks like you need to plan a move the wood, smash the deck party?

    1. That would be awesome, but it'll probably end up being just me and Trip moving the wood. lol I'll leave the smashing to the contractors next year.

  4. So exciting to get the garden going and do home improvements. They are fun to plan, horrible to live during and great when complete. The BBNYA sounds interesting. Do they give you any choices in genre? I read a bunch of genres but there are definitely ones I prefer and a few I don't read.

    1. Truer words were never spoken! Though I haven't lived through them yet I can only imagine what it's going to be like. Eeeee!
Yes! They definitely let you pick which genres. They send out a list and you can pick. It's extremely flexible. I'd love it if you joined!
