--- AVR News Update ---
Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front: We dropped our Montana off at the mechanic's to have them give it a going over and there wasn't anything more to fix that we didn't already know about. However, they recommended we not put anymore money into it. They suggested we look around for a used van or SUV instead. And we're going to listen to them. Even though it would be cheaper now to fix the van, down the road there could be a couple more major problems that could pop up and then we might as well call it a money pit. So vehicle hunting it is.

Friday was the Marine Corps birthday and Saturday was Veteran's Day. Hubby had to work Friday but he took Saturday off. Frankly, I think all veterans should get the day off paid, but most employers don't give a shit.

Touching Nature: I waged Battle II in Leafageddon and came out victorious in record time thanks to hubby's co-worker letting me borrow his backpack blower. Man, I want one of those! It's gotten chilly enough at night these last couple nights that I readied the fireplace and we've had a fire going. Pretty but useless when it comes to actual heating.

Book News: I had 6 reviews to write and I managed 4 of them before a massive headache rolled in. So, I'm still sitting at 2 and I'm nearly finished with another book. Then I have 6 more NetGalley books to read to reach my November goal. I'm pretty sure I can do it.

Oh, and also this happened...
I originally set my 2017 goal well below my usual mark since I've been so busy. When I reached it at 100 I decided to up my goal to 150. I've now reached that. I'm not going to raise it again. I'll just let it stand and any that I finish after will be bonuses.

Don't Touch That Dial!: Trip and I started and finished Jessica Jones and then started Daredevil. I thought Jessica Jones was ok, but I'm really liking Daredevil so far.

At the Flicks: Thor: Ragnorak. WOOT! Great movie. But...Mjölnir...nooooooooo! I think Thor's hammer is my most favorite non-person character in the Marvel universe. And now it's gone. I'm so sad.

Cyberspace Playground: Nothing.

Randomness:

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: When the local BBQ has their All-You-Can-Eat BBQ dinner wear expandable pants.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. Why couldn’t we make that a rule? All veterans gets Veterans’ Day off.

    I like it.

  2. Oh no. Dinovember. That picture is too funny! And service men and women have been in my thoughts this weekend. There's not enough thanks I can give for all they do to keep us safe. Loving your new books this week. I spy a few I'd lie to try.

  4. I'm glad you've decided to look for another vehicle. My first (technically second, never got to drive the first) car became a money pit. Within three years I sank more money into it than what I paid and still was having issues. I would like to have a fireplace just to have a few roaring fires going once or twice a year. I've only really had one experience before. Most houses around here don't have fireplaces. Congrats on finishing your Goodreads goal!!
