--- AVR News Update ---
Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front: With April not working 3rd shift I actually have more time than I anticipated. I thought I'd be watching the grandkiddos more, mornings while she slept as well as when she was at school, but instead I actually have more time to read since she's home and awake. :)

The boys have survived their semester exams and are starting the new semester. Trip graduates in a little over 4 months. GAH!

Touching Nature: It's cold again, but not too cold and no precipitation of any kind. The next week looks about the same. I knew I should never have bought those sleds. But at least I'll be ready if Ma Nature decides to shit some snow all over us again.

Book News: I'm on a reading roll here. I've taken on extra books for the magazine and I have a CQ review book for Feb 20th that I finished yesterday. Woot! I have 3 magazine reviews to write and the CQ review, but I'm hoping to have those done today. It's early days yet, but I just might be able to read more than the 100 I anticipated on my yearly Goodreads Challenge. *fingers crossed*

Don't Touch That Dial!: I got nothing and it's pissing me off. I want to get caught up on Supernatural and finish Psych and Bones, dammit!

At the Flicks: Nope

Cyberspace Playground: I discovered this guy's channel and while I've only seen a few videos I've enjoyed them. Maybe because I'm such a huge fan of Whose Line Is It Anyway? and he seems to like it, too. Among other things.

Randomness:

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: No matter what fucked up shit is spewing about out there, stay strong and positive. Only by coming together can we overcome. It may seem hopeless, but remember what Nemo told Dory and all the other fish caught in the net...Swim down together!

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. YAY! For more time! I am glad things are working out so well.
So it's your fault we aren't getting any snow! Never buy the stuff that snow likes otherwise no snow.
Awesome job on the reading! I wish I could get my reading groove on. I seem to have slowed down a lot, I think I need a complete reading day, might kick start me.

Have a great week, Carol! Happy Reading! ox

  2. I got snow tires for the first time this year and so far haven't really needed them. I am not complaining about that! :) We still have to get through February and March though.

Glad you had some more time and were able to get more reading done. Good luck with the review writing too. I hope you get a chance to catch up with your shows. I need to do that too.

Love the Star Wars "alternative facts". When I feel down because of current events, I watch Trevor Noah's Daily Show videos on YouTube. Sometimes that helps. I'll have to remember that Nemo quote. Is that from Finding Dory? I haven't seen that one.

  6. It sounds like the less time babysitting is translating into more reading time which is great. I tend to waste extra time I find!!!

  7. I will be having my students incorporate alternative facts into their big project in May (about sharks and challenges). I think they will love it and it's another way to tie in real-world connections. That's all we keep hearing in the teaching field...

Good to hear you are getting some more time for yourself. Happy reading!

  8. They always say if you prepare for something, it never happens so since you got those new sleds you have chased off the snow...lol. It's going to be nice this week, then it could snow a little...I mean one day it's 60 and the next it will be 37. :( I am so ready for spring.

Have a great week!!! happy reading!
