--- AVR News Update ---
Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front: Kids were off school Mon-Weds for the snow which melted some then froze again (it was seriously cold for this area) into lots of ice on the roads. Because NC is just not equipped to deal with the wintry stuff. Anna and April started a delayed Spring semester on Weds and the boys went back to high school on Thurs. This coming week will be our first full week of a new schedule, minus the MLK holiday, but the trial run this week looks promising that we'll be covered on babysitting for everyone's convoluted schedules. Bonus that April is off weekends and has offered to cook dinner Sat & Sun. They can live here for all eternity. :D

Touching Nature: Last weekend we had nearly 9" of snow and it even dropped down to 4º Monday night. Then we had 70º Thurs and Fri. So...yeah. Everyone got to use the one sled we had though, so there was much rejoicing. Saturday it was kinda slow going but as it melted then turned to ice the sled really flew down our drive forcing them to bail or hit the house.

Book News: I had 10 reviews to write and I managed 6 while the grandbabies were napping knocking that number down to 4. Then I finished Buffy Season 10, Vol 6, 2 monster porn, and 1 for the magazine bringing that number back up to 8. However, I now only have 2 to write - the ones for the magazine. So, yay me! Of course, those always give me fits because I have to be professional. No swearing or funny gifs. *pouts*

Don't Touch That Dial!: Managed two episodes of The Walking Dead. And I snuck in a couple of the X-Files which I'm rewatching on my own since everything else I watch I'm doing so with other family members. And basically getting nowhere.

At the Flicks: Nope

Cyberspace Playground: Just catching up on The Passion of the Nerd's Buffy and Angel episode guides when I get the chance.

Randomness: Metatron, you are so much more of a douchebag than Booger.

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: If you're struggling to save money and feel like you just can't save a damn thing, start small. Throw your change in a jar and do your best not to touch it. Even better, never give the correct coins. Bill comes to $2.43? Pay $3 and throw the change in your jar. It adds up fast. Want it to grow even faster? Take that $2.43, pay with a $5 and throw the $2.57 into the jar.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. I need to re-watch the X-Files, I've never seen it all and loved it, and now it's on Amazon Prime, I really think I should give it a go. Hope you have a good week :)

  2. I am glad the schedule will work out. You have a lot going on in that house and being able to not cook on Sat & Sun, total bonus.
The Weather needs to get itself together because I can't keep up!

    YAY! Monster Porn! I can't wait!!! :)

Have a great week, Carol! Happy Reading! ox

  4. Snow can be so pretty, but it often seem to cause some trouble too. We only had a bit of wet snow here that disappeared quickly again. That's neat you got a bunch of review written this week.

we're currently watching Star gate and rewatching the Harry Potter movies. It's been fun. i never watched the X Files or the Walking Dead, I don't think the latter one would be for me as I don't like zombies. Have a great week!

  5. I haven't watched Buffy in years! Nor have I watched the X-file, ever, but I am curious.

Thanks for sharing those money-saving tips.

Enjoy your week, and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

  6. Oooh! X-Files! I need to watch that show again! Good advice about saving your money! I do the same thing with my change as I just put money in a jar and I don't touch it unless it's for an emergency.

    Here’s my Sunday Post!

  7. My image of kids bailing on the sled as it flies toward the house is just hilarious LMAO! Glad everything worked with schedules, that's always fun trying to manage so many people. Enjoy your Buffy reading - I SERIOUSLY need to read the Buffy graphic novels. I have no excuse, but time. *sigh* have a great week!!

  8. Vegan Vamp. That title cracked me up! It was freezing last week but this week was in the 70s and humid. I'm not complaining. The snow never reached down here but we did get freezing temps for a couple of days.

  9. I love the x-files though I have never made it through all of the episodes I get started then I get side tracked with something else...lol. I need to start over again. :) Glad we didn't get that snow, but we got a little ice, so might rather have snow. :) Now it's rain, rain, rain, and then back in the 50's and 60's this week...this weather is so weird.

    Happy reading!

  10. That sounds way too cold for me! Our area isn't equipped for snow at all, and not very well for ice either. It sounds like you all enjoyed your snow days at home! That's a lot of reviews you wrote! I struggle with just two on my list (now down to one!).

  11. 70 degrees, I am so jealous. Highest we got up to last week was 50.

I would imagine that switching gears when you write the magazine's reviews is a challenge at times. But you get to showcase all your multiple personalities! :D
