“You’re not the bad guy in this story,” He whispered
“I know. I know that’s not what you’re saying.”
“And neither am I.” He continued
“I know.”
We are,” he said, finally looking right at her.
“Both of us. We’re the bad ones. Together.

Dulcie is the girl from the wrong side of the tracks. Living in the trailer park with a prostitute mother, a drug dealing step-dad and a junkie half-brother; she has resigned herself to the fact that she will never leave her small West Virginia town. Con is the high school golden boy. He lives in a monstrous home with his Mayoral father, checked-out trophy wife mother and is the star quarterback of their high school football team. Dulcie spends her days hiding away in her sketchbook, trying to fly under the radar and go unnoticed. Little does she know that Con has been watching her, waiting for his time to strike. What happens when a chance encounter, alleged arson and a costume party brings these two together? You think you know this story, I promise you do not.

Stylo Fantome blows it out of the water, yet again for me. Prepare for a bumpy ride, that will leave you wondering what the hell is wrong with you for rooting for these two characters. On the surface this looks like a story that has been told time and time again, but never has it been told like this. Ms. Fantome gives us two dark, sociopathic characters who bring out the best, or is it the worst, in each other. Thriving on their lust for destruction and one another, they are beyond redemption, and neither is looking for it. My only complaint in this tale is the speed with which these characters lay claim to one another, I would have enjoyed more build up and interaction between these two. They know very little about each other but recognize their own darkness in the other’s reflection. Con and Dulcie feed off of one another, leaving a trail of lies, heartbreak and blood behind them. With steamy sex, graphic violence and plenty of turns, this is not a book for the faint of heart. However, if you are looking for something that will keep your attention, make your heart race and make you question your own morals, this is the book for you!
