--- AVR News Update ---
Hello and Happy Sunday!

Goodbye April, Hello May!
2016 is now 33% uploaded.
Let's hope this month is better than the last.

On the Home Front: Still getting a handle on hubby's sugar readings. We went grocery shopping Friday and he went too long without a carb snack. He ended up with low sugar. I know it sounds counter productive that he had to drink 4 oz of pop to spike his sugar, but with his medicine working all day long he really needs to snack about 2 hrs after a meal. From now on I'll be sure to carry a carb snack when we're out and about, so that doesn't happen again. Silver lining is he knows what a low sugar feels like now. He's also gotten up in the morning and had his sugar be really low, not as low as Fri, but low enough that we know now he needs to have a carb snack before bed. It really is a learning curve.

Touching Nature: Got some more planting done. I may or may not have 18 or so zucchini plants and about a bazillion jalapeño plants. Don't ask. My beans and peas are taking off and the watermelon, gourds and cucumbers look promising. Also, how the hell do I have tomato plants and marigolds coming up in our front raised bed when we dug the shit out of it. Well, actually we added shit to it (manure), but you know what I mean. So I have 8 tomato plants (varieties unknown at this time) and 16 marigolds freebies. I'll take them. I am all kinds of sore today from all that physical activity though. *groans*

Book News: I've made little progress on the reading front. Currently 13 books behind. But that's ok. I'm not going to stress about it. I have all of May scheduled and drafted now, plus a good jump on June. I'm just waiting for my guest reviewer to read her books and send me her reviews and my calendar will be complete. :D

Don't Touch That Dial!: Made a bit of progress on our Supernatural rewatch. Yay! Yesterday when hubby had to work and the weather was kinda crappy, Trip and I had a Season One Star Wars: Clones Wars marathon. It was fun. I'd never seen it before. :)

At the Flicks: Captain America: Civil War comes out Friday, but we won't be able to go until the 15th.

Cyberspace Playground: Nada. I'm really getting behind on my YouTube subscriptions. I'll need to do something about that soon.

Randomness: I'm not sure exactly why this makes me laugh. It's not that funny, but I LOL every time I see it on my FB wall. :D

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

From the library
I brought a giant stack of graphic novels home.
I don't have time to list them all here.
Let's just say there are some Marvel, DC, Star Wars
and a few others and leave it at that. Okay? :D

Freebies
Free at time of drafting.
Always wear clean underwear.
(though I don't know why because if you're in an accident
I doubt they'll stay clean)

  1. When they come up I would like you to ship me Zucchini, Jalapenos and a few other things. My garden is still bare because it keeps raining and I can't get out to till it and get the plants in the ground. I think I will have a late crop this year :)

I saw that picture on FB and laughed out loud too. I still laugh every time I read it.

Have a great week, Carol! Happy Reading! ox

  2. Sounds like you have a huge garden. I have a smaller one. I will have tomatoes, corn, peppers, potatoes and not sure what else at this point. It is still a bit early for us, as it still gets pretty cold at night.

Hope you have a great week.

  4. I love tomatoes from the garden. Yeah I drown em in salt but still... and yay for Civil War. Can't believe that bad boy is about to come out, but I'm pretty anxious. Although I spoiled myself on line ha ha. Still be fun though...

That FB quote is great. And I like the cover of Miranda warning. That and steampunk Fairy Tales look interesting...

  6. That doesn't like like a nice situation with the low sugar, but I guess it good your husband now knows what low sugar feels like and can recognize it. It sure sounds like a learning curve with everything you have to know and be aware of.

That's great you have so many plants. It must be fun to grow your old plants, although I can imagine your get quite sore from that.

I love Star Wars the clone wars, it's really good. It really ads to the story and Ashoka is a great character. I hope you'll have a great week and enjoy your new books!

  7. The Fram and The Isle books are going on my wish list! You got some great ones this week. I'm behind on my reading too. I'm sure I always will be as I can't resist a new one. LOL It sounds like you are starting to figure out the sugar and carbs thing. I have to monitor my mother and it's a delicate balance until you hit the right combination. I also did some more yard work. Mostly cutting back and now everything is growing and blooming gloriously!

  10. I'm a little behind on my reading. All my planning ahead has caught up with me and now there is nothing planned ahead. :/ I'll be working on that in the coming weeks. It is great that you and your husband are navigating his diabetes and the adjustments so well. It is definitely good that he knows his thresholds when the sugars start to get low. Have fun out in the dirt this week!

  11. I'm glad you're getting used to your husband's diabetes, even if you're still in the trail and error phase. It must be a huge adjustment for both of you.
And now I want cucumbers in my garden, too. I love cucumbers, they are so yummy with absolutely everything. And tomatoes keep coming back here, too, we have no idea what varieties will show up or when - it's fun, though, and we usually have fresh tomatoes all summer long.
I was laughing out loud and snorting at your quote - it's very, very funny :)
Have a wonderful week and happy reading.
