AVR News Update
Hello and Happy Sunday!

Another week has passed and I don't really have much to report. I've read, worked on the blog, wrote up some reviews and have ventured out to get Christmas presents. I really don't like to shop. Online shopping is better, but it's still shopping. lol

In other news though, my daughter's phone croaked. Bit the dust. Went to the electronic heavens in the sky. So, I have a 17-yr-old whose phone does not work. Yeah, feel my pain and stop laughing! Also, why are cell plans so fucking complicated?! I've been so frustrated and then yesterday I found out our friend who used to work at a Verizon store is back there part-time. Oh, thank the phone gods! I'm going tomorrow to throw myself at her pretty feet.

And finally, I have decided I'm taking January off. I will be around with an occasional post, like the Sunday Post, but I'm going to attempt to build up a back log. I'm lagging behind again (according to my own questionable schedule) and need to at least attempt to get more organized. Hey! Stop pretend coughing. I can tell you're really snickering! It could happen! But most likely not. LOL

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. OMG, a teen without her phone! I am biting my tongue and trying not to laugh at the reaction I can definitely imagine.

My daughter, who is no longer a teen, is the same way about her phone...and my granddaughters seem to be physically attached to theirs.

Enjoy your week, and all the new books; sounds like last week was full of scary stories.

    Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

  2. A break is always needed every so often, I have been actually thinking of taking sometime off after my COYER Challenge is done. I usually get back logged with COYER since I use that time to visit and run the challenge I don't get to write my reviews as quickly. So I might take time off to write a bunch of reviews and set up posts :)

Broken phones are the worst and why are they making them SO BIG! I want a nice compact phone that I can keep in my pocket not one that looks like a mini laptop.

I do all my shopping on-line also I hate the stores after Thanksgiving and avoid them like the plague. I even do my grocery shopping on-line and pick it up because the store by us is always so crowded with angry little old people that run you over with their carts. It's dangerous :)

Have a great week Carol! Happy Reading!

    1. Yeah, I take a couple a year. I look forward to them. lol

I agree about the phones. They started out huge, got very tiny and now they're getting huge again. lol

I'll take shopping online over in stores any day. lol Thanks!

    1. I might be able to get an early jump on the backlog at the end of this month. That's the tentative plan anyway. :) She's actually been very good about it. And now she has an iPhone to play with. Got it a few hours ago. :D

  4. I like to take breaks now and again too. Blogging can be intense and we all need time off to recoup. I usually come back really motivated too as I find I miss it when I'm not doing it.

    1. I'll be around, just not posting every day or even much at all. I want to get at least 30 days ahead. More would be better, but I'll take 30, so that's the goal. :)

  6. Yikes, no phone? Poor you... it's hard to imagine a teen without their phone nowadays LOL. That must be fun... :)

The City on the Edge of Forever doesn't sound as if it's much of an improvement over the show version, in spite of the hype. Good to know.

    1. It's been...interesting. She now knows what it will be like during the zombie apocalypse though. LOL We just picked up an iPhone for her. Better her than me. I prefer Android. Even better, it was free. :)

It was a nice read, but I liked the show better.

  9. My eldest daughter (13) wanted a specific phone as a Christmas present this year. She had it in advance (I couldn't resist her pleas) and she found it how it worked in 3 seconds flat. She gave me her old phone and I'm still trying to figure out how to pick up a call on it lol ! Have a great week - sans freebies !

    1. I swear kids these days and technology, it's scary sometimes! lol My daughter spent most of last night getting to know hers and transferring music to it. I had to make sure she was also doing her homework. LOL
