AVR News Update
Hello and Happy Sunday!

I have been busy doing some work for InD'tale Magazine. It was a lot of time-consuming work that took me nearly four straight days to do, but it is *done*. Yay! I'm so happy and my ass thanks me for finishing it. I know I spend a lot of time at my desk dicking around on the internet, but I never realized until this past week how much I actually get up and move around or sit with my feet up on my desk. I was adding all of the books the magazine has reviewed since May 2012 to their Goodreads profile, so I was glued to my keyboard, typing, copying and pasting. I cross checked against each issue of the magazine, shelved them and then fixed over 500 links from when they overhauled the website and the links changed. It was one of those huge jobs that when you volunteer to do it you don't realize how much is actually going to be involved. I was happy to do it, but holy shit! LOL

So...I was busy and didn't get much else done. I'm now down to 12 days of drafted posts on the blog and I'm antsy to get the reviewing machine cranking again. I never thought I'd say that. Ever. But there ya have it, folks. :D I'll be finishing my KLL (Kindle Lending Library) book today, so I may slip that into the Fri or Sat spot I have blank. Then I'll be picking my Monster Porn Monday reads and revving up the September 99¢ books. *rubs hands together* This is gonna be so much fun! I have also decided that November is going to be my NetGalley month. I added my ARCs to my BookLikes shelves and there may have been quite a few. *cough* Quite...a few. *ahem* Yeah. Time to clear those out.

In other news...kids start school in one week. Freshman Orientation is Tues and we'll be getting school supplies this week. Oh...yay. On the one hand it's nice having the kids home and on the other, it'll be nice to have them back in school and in a routine. Plus, I'll get my living room back.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. Lots of glossy looking new books! Enjoy...and while I am tempted, I have said "no" to NetGalley. Vine books keep me busy enough, and I do enjoy books I can buy, too.

Have a great week, and so glad you finished that huge project.

Here's MY WEEKLY SUNDAY/MONDAY UPDATES POST

    1. I've been tempted plenty of times with Edelweiss and I even have an account there. However, when I was on the site initially (about a year ago) it was confusing and hard for me to navigate. I haven't been back yet I get the weekly updates. NetGalley is my Kryptonite. LOL I have only a vague awareness of the Vine thing on Amazon. I think I'll avoid looking into that for now. :D

  2. I am so behind on reviews at the moment but I just feel like reading lately. I plan to work on them this week since I don't want to forget and have not taken notes. I have been a bad book blogger girl Lol.

That sounded like a HUGE job but sometimes those busy work things can be a lot of fun.
I can't wait for my kids to go back to school then I get my blogging Fridays back again. I will miss them but I wont :)

Have a great week! Enjoy all your new reads!!!

    1. You and me both sister. lol I am really trying to not get so far ahead in my books read (like I did a few weeks ago) that I have a hard time remembering what the hell the books were about. I've told myself, no more than 3 books before writing the review. I finished my KLL book today *and* I even wrote the review! *gasp* I know!

It was, but it's nice knowing it's all up-to-date. At least, as far as I can humanly tell. lol

I know exactly what you mean. :D

  3. Those NetGalley emails are so tempting. I mean there you are being good, not visiting, not requesting and then they come to you! Who can resist?! Not me!
    Enjoy your reads.

    1. I know! I sit there and say...Don't you click that email. Don't do it! Stop! Oh...look at this one...LOL I don't accept every one I get, but I shouldn't be accepting any at all right now. lol

  4. I spend so much time sitting at my desk - right now my butt is starting to hurt actually and I'm going to have to take a break. I've been seriously thinking about getting/making a treadmill desk because think of all the walking I could do! I'm so behind again - I just can't keep up! I'm going to have to spend a month just getting caught up and another getting ahead LOL - like I could stay away from the blog that long.

My stepson had his freshman orientation this past week. He's excited and apparently already has senior friends. So cool calm and confident that one! He's my little ham :P Have a great week Carol!

    1. I really dont' want to get behind again. I'm finding out how much I love having a cushion that's not my big ass. ;)

If I had to walk on my treadmill to access the internet Iw ould be scary skinny in no time! LOL I do have a shelf on mine that my husband made, so I can read while walking. It holds a book or my Kindle. Pretty nifty! :)

  6. Great books this week! I know what you mean about kids going back to school. I'm glad to have them home but now that we have everyone back on their routines it's really nice. Tomorrow is officially our first day where everyone is back and I plan on having myself a celebratory breakfast biscuit when I drop off the Tornado! Good luck getting all your school supplies taken care of! You've also reminded me how I need to get my goodreads profile under control!

    1. It will be nice to get back to a semi regular routine. I loathe shopping, so schoolshoping with 3 teens should be fun. *rolls eyes* lol

My own Goodreads profile is a mess. I was there a year or more before I realized I could make my own shelves. I have 5700 books on there now. Yeah...so not fixing those anytime soon. I joined BookLikes not quite a year ago and I'm still tweaking my shelves, but then again I only have something like 300 books on there. I'll get it...eventually. lol

    1. I think I might have turned into one of those pod people. Who took me and replaced me with someone organized?! LOL I am not cleaning up my shelves. 5700 books and I was there a year before I realized I could make my own shelves. Yeah...it's not happening. :D I hope I don't run out of monster porn freebies! hehe

  8. I have a week and a half left until my own school starts. It's all online, which is handy, but then it also affects time for blogging, etc.

    1. When I was going to college back in 2002-2006 online classes were really starting to get popular. And boy was it easier to do with some of the classes. I loved it. It'll take up some blogging time, etc, but think of the time saved if you had to drive to class. :)

  9. We have two weeks left til school and it's starting to sink in around here that summer is almost over. My kids don't seem to mind, which I guess is nice- I always hated it. :)

Nice Untreed Reads post- all three of those sound like good books. Hope your wek ahead is good too.
