AVR News Update
Hello and Happy Sunday!

Whew! It has been quite the week! I don't even remember what news I was going to share last Sunday before the storm hit Thurs night and we lost power on Fri morning. If you missed my update you can read all about it here. I've spent all week playing catch up (and missed 2 tour dates) and now that I'm pretty much got things back to normal and under control that freakin' wench Mother Nature is throwing another storm our way. The forecast says freezing rain starting late tonight and lasting until basically Tuesday. So, if I disappear again (we do not have smartphones; yes, we live in the Dark Ages because I refuse to pay Verizon's outrageous price for a data package) it means we've lost power again. I sincerely hope that is not the case! At least this time I have bags of ice stored in the bottom of the chest freezer.

So, I was going to do the Indies of March, but instead I'm taking the rest of March off to build up a review reserve and get my tour books read and ready. I have two tours yet this month and I may have a review here and there, but for the most part, I'm reading for the month of April.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. So sorry about the storm inconvenience you experienced. We went through 6 days of Superstorm Sandy without electric, heat, water, so yes I feel your pain. The Mary Burton title looks good to me also :) Thanks for sharing your news and books.

    1. 3 days was plenty long enough, I can't imagine 6 or more days. Yikes!

  4. The weather is just crazy! I can't wait till it makes up it's mind because it's making me insane!

All your books look great! I do hope you enjoy them all! I also want to spend a month reading for the next month, I think I plan to do that soon, since I tend to lack the review I want on my blog. My outside the blog life tends to get in the way of me reading like I want to but once summer comes I usually make up for it. I just wish I could read like that during the winter/spring too.

I hope you have a great week! Enjoy all your new books!!!

    1. It would sure be nice if it would stay Spring for awhile.

I don't have much of a choice. I need to get some reviews written and drafted, but they'll only last a week. So, it's time to stockpile. lol

      Thanks and you, too!

  5. Freezing rain is the worst, I'd rather have snow LOL. Hope you avoid an outage this time! Good luck with building up the review reserve... have a good week.

  6. Mother Nature has not been your friend. I have been sneaking in April reviews between my TBR reads and so far it is working, and on the plus side I have posts scheduled in May already..LOL

    1. Mother Nature hasn't been anyone's friend this winter, IMO. We had beautiful days on Friday and Saturday. Last night is was SNOWING when I went to bed and it was below freezing this morning. Is it summer yet?

    2. I guess that's what we get for having a couple mild winters in a row. :P Kimba, if I dind't luv you so much I could hate you for being so far ahead. LOL

@Terri ~I just want a month or two of Spring. We went from winter to summer last year with about a week of Spring. I do NOT want to turn on the A/C in April! lol

  8. Losing power sounds scary, it doesn't happen that often here. I can only remember it happening twice due to an outage, but both times it was fixed soon. I also don't have a smartphone, I don't want to pay for it and I am usually at home and don't really need a smartphone.
I really like the cover of Bite Me, the half tiger and half men face, it's done really well.

    1. It's a real pain since we're in the country and don't have city water. It really doesn't happen often enough to justify buying a generator though. *sigh*

I like that cover, too. *psst* I already read it during the power outage. lol

  10. Oh my, hope you are ok now, it does sound like non-stopping at the moment in your part of the world. They do charge ridiculous amounts for smartphone contracts here as well and what annoys me as well is that if something goes wrong with them and you didn't pay for even more ridiculous insurance, you are basically stuffed with a expensive contract and no phone.
Great book haul for you this week thought, I can't decide which one would be my favourite, Tunnelville probably, and Bite me
Have a great week and Happy Reading!

  12. Everyone at our house has smartphones, but me. I stay at home, so I just can't justify paying for data when I am at home and my phone would connect to our wifi. I have a texting phone only. *shrugs* Works for me. :) Enjoy your week.

    1. I would only need it if the power was out, so there's no point in paying through the...ah, nose for it. I mostly text with mine anyway though we dropped the landline, so I do occasionally make family-related calls like app'ts and stuff.

      Thanks and you, too! :)

  17. Mother Nature's been a real bitch lately! I really shouldn't complain, I'm in Texas - but she's not giving me the weather I expect from her here either! I really hope the storms aren't too bad for you this time - Good Luck! And enjoy reading your way to April, it sounds like an awesome plan :)
