Title ~ The Slayer
       (The Legend Chronicles, #2)
Author ~ Theresa Meyers
Publisher ~ Zebra
Published ~ 3 April 2012
Genres ~ Paranormal/Romance/Steampunk

My Rating ~ 4 out of 5

Winchester Jackson is the oldest of three brothers who were trained by their father to be Hunters. They hunt the Darkin and keep humanity safe. Except, after a serious incident shakes Winn up he turns his back on Hunting and becomes the Sheriff of Bodie, California. Until the day Contessa Drossenburg, Alexandra Porter comes looking for him. She needs his help in locating a third of The Book of Legend and as one of The Chosen he can help her find it.

Winn and his brothers scoff at being The Chosen, but they can’t let any of The Book of Legend fall into the hands of the Darkin. The Gate of Nyx between Hell and Earth is weakening and a demon named Rathe is determined to come through and enslave Earth. In order to close the Gate and save them all the three brothers need to unite the three pieces of The Book of Legend to close the Gate. It’s a race against time and Darkin. Will the brothers be able to win even as they don’t believe in the Legend?

This is Book Two of The Legend Chronicles and I was just as swept along as I was with the first as they raced to find a piece of the Book of Legend. Winn and Alexa are interesting characters and the fact that she is a vampire and Winn is a Hunter made it even more interesting to see them overcome their differences. The story flowed smoothly and the plot was excellent. I look forward to Remington’s book The Chosen due out March 5, 2013.
