Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front

Sunday ~ After the usual morning stuff I washed the ton of dishes in my sink then scrubbed the sink. Tossed dog blankets in the washer. Made French Toast Bake and Cinnamon Roll Apple Pie Bake. Since Chris was here there were no leftovers. I mean, there were enough people to finish it all off and not implying he's a piggy. lol Then he headed home. I completely cleaned the living room in prep for Halloween decorations, but did not get to the decorating. Too pooped. Swept, mopped, moved furniture, took everything off the mantel, tidied entertainment center, pulled cushions off the couch and vacuumed (yikes), washed all blankets, pillow cases, and pillow protectors, and cleared off the drop leaf table. Leftovers for dinner. Trip finished off the mac-n-cheese. Kyle finished the popcorn chicken. I had half of the pork roast and mashed potatoes. I have no idea what Anna ate.

Monday ~ Usual morning stuff. Worked on the computer. The wasband dropped off Kyle's birthday card. Woke Trip up to go to Food Lion for some stuff then took a shower when I got home. By the time I was done doing the shit I needed to get done I didn't feel like decorating. Made a Chicken Dump casserole from Drew Cooks, a guy I found on Facebook. Here's the recipe. Everyone liked it. Anna and I weren't impressed with the chicken though. It tasted like it had dried out. Honestly, it would be good with no meat. Or add zucchini. Or mushrooms if anyone besides me liked them. *sigh* I like recipes that can easily be tweaked. Like, I had no panko crumbs, so I crushed up Everything Ritz crackers (in my Geedel cheese grater! lol) and it was delicious. Watched CSI: Miami then went to bed late, like around 11:30. Oops.

Tuesday ~ Did some things on the computer then Trip and I did the Halloween decorating. Took us longer than expected which is really what I should expect. lmao Mostly because when we decorated last year, it was abbreviated because we didn't have things unpacked/situated enough. There's still some decorations I didn't put up because I need to figure out how to do it without poking holes in my ceiling or walls. Probably with Command clips. It's only the 2nd Halloween with the new and improved look, so we'll figure it out. Had a Jimmy Dean's bowl for a late lunch then picked Kyle up from work. Changed my bedstuff and washed them.

Wednesday ~  Did the usual morning shit. Went to CVS to get Anna's prescriptions and Food Lion to pick up a few things including Kyle's birthday cake. Wrapped Kyle's presents. Then piddled around until it was time to go to my oral surgeon consult at 3pm. I need to have a broken molar out. That one's fairly easy and straight forward. More complicated is having a wisdom tooth removed. Unfortunately, over the years, the back molar has allowed a crevice to form funneling food to the wisdom tooth underneath. Food it totally did not need. And that has not only caused a cavity to form in the wisdom tooth, but an infection has started in my gum that, if left unchecked, will be a huge problem. So, he asked what I wanted to do about the molar when he removes the wisdom tooth. And I told him honestly, that back molar is so squashed back there that I was just going to have him remove it, too. Which it's already becoming a tad loose (not that I noticed, but he did). On top of ALL this, the nerve that runs through my jaw is right the fuck there, by the wisdom tooth. So, he's going to be very careful about the extraction and clean out any infection. I'm on antibiotics right now, so hopefully that will clear it up as best as possible. In the meantime, Anna is my ride, but she's scheduled to have her wisdom teeth out on the 14th. So, I'll need to schedule after she's better and we're planning on going to the NC State Fair on the 21st and I must be able to eat fair food or why bother going? Amirite? I'm hoping to get in on the 22nd since he does surgery on Thursdays. I'll see next week. It all depends on Anna getting her FMLA approved in time for her surgery or will she need to reschedule. Ugh. I hate the uncertainty. And I hate that she's my ride (since she doesn't have any vacay) although I guess I could ask April (my stepdaughter) or Jess (my bonus daughter), but they work, too. I do not want to ask the wasband. In other news, the issue I had with my toe (it was a ruptured blood vessel) that I went to the podiatrist about months ago (it got better) has suddenly decided to be a bitch again. All I was doing was walking across the floor. WTF So now I need to see if it will heal itself again or will I need surgery to correct that, too? Anyway, Kyle requested tacos for his birthday dinner and since Chris was over I made 5 lbs of taco meat. Luckily, I had that in the freezer since 5 lbs is now $24.99 at Food Lion. Fuuuucccckkk Trump! Vote BLUE! After dinner, Kyle opened presents and then we had cake.

A giant Squishable (not to be confused with Squishmallow)
chocolate chip cookie from the Comfort Food Collection. lmao

Thursday ~  Usual morning shit followed by some blog post drafting and misc stuff on the computer. Trip and I fed the critters and I cut up some apples for the deer. Picked Kyle up at Anna's therapy app't. She went to Chris's afterwards, so I dropped Trip off at Kyleigh's 6pm soccer game and then picked him back up at 7pm. Had leftover Chicken Dump then fell asleep in my recliner watching CSI:Miami. Trip finished off the last of the Chicken Dump and Kyle had tacos.

Friday ~ Up at 9. Oops. Did the usual morning shit. By the time I scrolled through emails, listened to yesterday's 7 voicemails (all scammers), and did the Wordle it was time to take Mr. Puggles to get 2 more vaccinations. I was irritated that when I had him there 2 weeks ago they didn't tell me he needed his lepto and bordetella as well as the rabies. They need to get their shit together. Got back home, woke Trip, then we took off to do the grocery shopping. Hit Big Lots first looking for some Halloween decorations for the porch and some more baskets to contain clutter in the entertainment center. Then grabbed the new Halloween donuts at Krispy Kreme. I have no will power. lol Stopped at the Farmer's Market at the mall to look at pumpkins and mums, but ended up buying some pansies. Then stopped at the place we usually get our Christmas tree and got two 8" mums and two large pumpkins. Headed over to BJ's for some groceries and they had jumbo pumpkins for $7.99. Well, shit. lol Oh, well. I bought one for Anna since I know she'll want to carve one. I'm just using the other two for decoration. Once done there Trip bought us lunch at Smithfield's. We haven't been there in a hot minute (as Anna says lol). I love their chicken coating. Headed home, unloaded, Trip walked the dogs while I put stuff away then I went out and searched all over for my Halloween pots (finally found them - I really need to get all that shit in the garden shed instead of scattered here and there), repotted the mums, planted the pansies, watered the tomatoes, and sprayed off the porch where I made a mess. Anna and Kyle got home from work. Kyle had some stuff for his birthday and a bag with 12 tamales. Ooooh? Yum! Took a shower. Fed the furries. Made Mystery Tea. Worked on this post.

As you can see, the front area is not done yet.
I'm working up the energy to tackle that rather large project.
Probably not until after the tomatoes are done producing though.

Saturday ~ Even though I went to bed at midnight, I was up at 7am. I wanted to get a good jump on the cleaning so I could tidy up my office. Did the dishes in the sink and scrubbed the Instant Pots that were soaking in the laundry room sink. Then I did the usual morning stuff. Walked the dogs in a very light rain. Had some Krispy Kreme donuts for breakfast. Cleaned the ceiling fans and Kyle's air purifier. Cleaned my bathroom. Folded my clean bedstuff and the grandkiddos blankets and jammies. Washed the rugs from both bathrooms, 2 loads of towels, the petstuff, and my clothes. Cleaned the laundry room. Anna's turn to do the litterboxes. I had some KK donuts for lunch (lol) before scrubbing the kitchen sink. After that, I felt like that was enough cleaning for the day. I played some Pokémon since it was Community Day and tidied up my office a bit where the tools are kept and the dresser that holds the dog stuff. It has needed it for quite awhile. I bought 2 baskets from Wayfair and put all the dog things that were in the dresser drawers in them then stuck them behind the dogs feed and water area. I have extra room behind their dishes due to the deep cabinets above. I put my holiday rugs in the drawers thus getting them up off my floor. I had removed 2 shoe shelves from my closet when I was tidying up in there, and they fit in the office. I'm storing some tools on them. I really need to get rid of some rugs and other things, but sorting shit is exhausting. I'll do it another day. At least the area is mostly tidy and navigable again. Finished this post while listening to an audiobook and trying to think what to have for dinner. More KK donuts? Ugh. I want something salty. Maybe soup. It's certainly a good day for it, since it's still cool and rainy. Oh! I have some chili in the freezer. That will work.

Today  It's supposed to rain all day. Sounds like a good day to snuggle up with a blankie and book. I may end up puttering, but who knows?

Mystery Tea

Monday ~ Nope

Tuesday ~ Hammock Blend Black Tea ~ Black tea, orange peels, natural crème flavor ~ best by 8/2023
We've had this before and like it. There's enough for one more pot before it's gone because I don't think I ordered any additional bags of it.

Wednesday ~ Zip

Thursday ~ Wise Counsel Herbal Tea ~ Olive leaf, lemongrass, liquorice root, peppermint, ginger root, lemon myrtle, apple pieces ~ best by 1/2024 - killed the bag
This was one of the five that had really bad reviews, so it got canned from the Plum Deluxe line up. Of course, when I saw the newsletter about them, I bought one of all five. lmao We finished Carrot Cake which was absolute ass. This one is not horrible. We didn't mind too much drinking it, but it would definitely not have been one I reordered. I'm not sure I have any left of the other three: Tea Break White, Best Friends Advice, and Royale Ceylon.

Friday ~ Gratitude Blend Black Tea and a bit of Lemon Raspberry Green Tea ~ no best by for either bag - killed both bags
Trip picked the Lemon Raspberry bag first and for some dumbass reason I left only a miniscule amount in the bag. There probably wasn't even enough for an 8 oz. mug. WTF was I thinking? lol So we tossed in the Gratitude Blend. I honestly thought we wouldn't taste the Lemon Raspberry, but surprisingly we could. Just a hint of it and it worked with the other. Nice!

New Year's Resolutions/Goals
I thought I'd keep a weekly record of these so I can see if anything is getting done. 😆
More reading, less tv ~ Probably half and half. Mostly audiobooks.

Tidy up outside ~ Repotted some mums I bought and planted some pansies in 2 pots that the other flowers from this Summer died.

  1. Thanks for sharing the photos. You have some great furniture pieces but it looks like more dusting I don't do. We are working the Democratic party booth at the State Fair on the 22nd and we have never been to the State Fair here. I went to the Iowa one with 4-H growing up and the Minnesota one. At least our weather is pretty good now and we are getting some rain. The rain is making me sleepy though.

  2. That’s a lot of decorations! All my free surfaces are piled with books so I don’t do decorations at any time of year.
Our family’s favourite Chicken Dump Casserole at the moment is 1kg bag of Southern Chicken Tenders, baked and then sliced into chunks, I can Condensed Chicken Soup, I pot of Sour Cream, 1/2 packet French onion soup mix, two cups of mixed frozen veggies ( I use peas, corn, red capsicum (pepper) but anything is fine. Mix everything together in a 9x13 dish, top with shredded pizza/Italian cheese. Bake for 20-25 mins or until cheese is golden. Serve with salad.
Thanks for sharing your week, happy reading!
