Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front

Sunday ~  Mostly rested and relaxed.

Monday ~ Anna and Kyle on OT all week. Again. Mr. Puggles had a morning appointment. Don't remember what else I did. Nasty storm rolled through in the evening. It got so dark at 7pm the pole light came on. Lots of wind, some heavy rain ~ 2" worth.

Tuesday ~ Trip and I did the grocery shopping. Had some grub at Biscuitville. Picked Kyle up at work. Your guess is as good as mine as to what I did the rest of the day. Must not have been exciting or traumatizing. Made some Korean Inspired Beef Udon that I got at BJ's for dinner. Pretty tasty. Must get again.

Wednesday ~ Actually nice out. Trip and I took the Pilot to get an inspection for my plate sticker. Breakfast at Pano's. Stopped at Krispy Kreme for their summer donuts. And 4th of July ones, too. Like we need that sugary shit. *whispers nom nom nom* Got the backpack blower out and blew all the storm debris off the driveway. Then decided what the hell, and mowed. I thought, ok, just do the front and side. But then I kept going and did the other side. I just didn't do up the driveway. Holy shit. I was dead by the time I was done. Showered. Because stinky sweaty. Had a late lunch. I helped Kyle make Russian Tea Cakes (or as I call them, Snowballs) for a co-worker's birthday tomorrow. Donuts for dinner. Chris spent the night. He brought curry for him and Anna. I'm just gonna say it: I loathe the smell of curry and hate the taste, too. Ugh. Stinky kitchen. Sorry. I just hate it. Not quite as much as fried liver and onions, but it's close.

Thursday ~ Usual morning stuff, worked on computer for a bit then took Captain Kirk to his appointment. I hate this time of year. Everyone is due at once. Made a whole chicken with baby carrots and baby red potatoes in the Dutch oven for dinner. Got it in the oven then picked Kyle up at Toros Cantina in Mebane where Anna dropped him off for his co-worker's birthday party. He had a rum drink (not sure why when he absolutely hates rum lol) and ACP tacos. Trip likes the ACP dish at San Marcos, so I need to try making it at home. Anna went to Chris's after therapy but was home by 10pm. She took the dogs out, I gave everyone their night night treat, and went to bed.

Friday ~ Usual morning routine followed by 10:20am doctor appointment. Got there at 10, checked in then waited. And waited. And waited. At 10:50 I asked if the doc was running behind. What followed was so weird. I was asked if I could come back on the 2nd. I was like wtf? I'm here. I've BEEN here. Waiting. Why would I come back? The receptionist disappeared and came back. Ok, this is a long story so I'll cut it short. Ish. All I really wanted was my bloodwork done and to maintain current patient status since it had been nearly 2 years since I saw her. And I was fasting, so I was able to get that done. When I went through the lab door, the receptionist was there and finally admitted it was all her fault. She took my info, but didn't actually check me in, in the system. I was supremely irritated, but I at least got my blood drawn and rescheduled the physical for the 8th. Then when I left and was running errands, she called and asked if I could come back at 3pm. So, I did. When I finally saw the doctor she told me that they thought I was a no show and the receptionist should have come back to tell them it was her fault, that I was there since 10am, and they would have seen me. The receptionist apologized many times, the nurse apologized, and the doctor apologized. ANYWAY, by the time I got there and saw her my bloodwork was back lmao. So she went over it with me. All good. She also ordered an immunity check for MMR since I'm old and I wanted to make sure I'm still immune to measles, etc. since the US is a fucking shitshow. We also discussed weight loss which I'm planning to tackle soon. She asked if I wanted a nutritionist, and I said no, then said wait. Why not? There's a lot of info out there and it's overwhelming. She said because I'm not diabetic insurance may not cover it. I sighed and said, "I'm Gen-X. If that's the case, I'll just muddle along and figure it out for myself like I've been doing my whole life." Leftovers for dinner. Anna spent night at Chris's.

Saturday ~ Took Kyle to work. Went back to bed. Got up, did morning stuff, walked dogs. So fucking humid out! Puttered around then left at 10:30 to pick Kyle up. After hitting up DQ for shakes, went home and started the cleaning. Since it was Anna's turn for litterboxes and she wasn't home, she and Kyle swapped chores. So, I started with the laundry room. Swept, mopped, cleaned the cat fountain and dishes, Kyle dumped litterboxes and threw away 2 garbage bags of turdy litter, I cleaned litterboxes and he dried and refilled, did laundry, cleaned my bathroom, cleaned Eevee's dish and water fountain, swept and mopped floors, picked up Texas Roadhouse order, ate, fed furries, emptied and refilled bird baths, filled feeders (Trip helped), cut up fruit for outside critters, cleaned and refilled feeders for Tiny Patrons, scrubbed kitchen sink, folded towels, changed bedstuff, did more laundry, showered, and worked on this post while eating waaaaay too many of my snack-size chocolates. Bed before midnight.

Today Rest and relaxation are on the menu. Kyle and I might make some Russian Tea Cakes for ourselves. I also have 1 packet of brownie mix left. Maybe I'll whip that up. We'll see.

New Year's Resolutions/Goals
I thought I'd keep a weekly record of these so I can see if anything is getting done. 😆
More reading, less tv ~ Not really. I need to get out of this funk.
Go back to the beginning and revamp old blog posts ~ Nothing this week.
Exercise ~ No, though I did mow.
Tidy up outside ~ Yes. Did some of that.

Touching Nature:  Hot, humid, some rain, still hot and humid. Gross. Still in a severe drought. The rain, about 4.5" total, helped to pause it, but did not help much in the way of making up the water deficit. I did mow on Weds and I got the backpack blower out to clear the twigs, leaves, and small branch debris off the driveway. I was dead by the time I was done.

Book News:  Not much here.

Don't Touch That Dial!: Murdoch Mysteries

At the Flicks: Nope.

Cyberspace Playground: Wordle, Word Lots, Crossword Jam, Solitaire, the Finch app - if anyone wants to be friends just let me know.

Randomness:   My local Food Lion is doing a complete renovation. So yes. This. And I'd like to add...the app does not have the aisle it's in! Come on!

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: This! Get started now! And while you're at it, start copying any photos and videos you have stored in the Cloud to a hard drive of some sort. Either an external drive, your PC, a large flash drive or all of the above. Because, one day, the Cloud is either going to be hijacked, destroyed, or they'll just ransom that shit out to us at highway robbery prices. AND, while I'm on the subject, get a fireproof box to store those drives in. Then set a schedule to copy the new Cloud items once a week or once a month. That way it doesn't take forever.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. Because I pretty much only use my iPad for everything I have been very slack about backing up everything in my cloud and google drive even though I rely so heavily on them, so just last week I downloaded everything to my PC. I even exported copies of my blog, Goodreads etc I need to copy it all to USBs now.
As for recipes, every app I’ve ever had ends going from free to subscription so I’ve given up on using them and now I just paste them into notes.
Thanks for sharing your week, happy reading!
