Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front

Sunday ~ Worked on tomorrow's year end post. Puttered around.

Monday ~ Trip and I went grocery shopping. The new small 11.6 cu. ft. refrigerator came in the afternoon. I love it! Anna and Kyle can keep their drinks in it, I keep the extra gallons of milk in it, and there's plenty of room for any overflow from the kitchen fridge. It has a small top freezer and the only thing it had in it was their freezer packs for their lunchboxes, so I moved all the ice cream to it, freeing up space in my bottom freezer in the kitchen. Anyway, it's taking the place of the mini-fridge, so now I need to decide what to do with that. One of the minis (the one that used to be in the laundry room) is in Trip's room. Anna said she'd take it, but right now there is absolutely no room for it. I doubled the space in her room with the addition, but it's like there's no room at all. I know it's because we haven't unpacked all of her shit and got it organized, but she keeps bringing home more and more stuff. It's frustrating. I worked on tomorrow's book round up post. Made pizzas for dinner.

Tuesday ~ Puttered around, worked on my year end posts, and went to Food Lion because I forgot some things. Made sausage and 1/2 spam (for Anna and me) quiche for dinner.

Wednesday ~ Went back to Food Lion yet again because I forgot grapes yesterday. Glad it's just 2 miles down the road. lol Also stopped at Subway to get sandwiches for tonight's dinner. Trip and I filled the feeders for the critters. Anna and Kyle's last day of work this week. They'll have 4 days off to vegetate. We stayed up until midnight to usher in the New Year with champagne, but I'm getting too old for this. It was a struggle to stay awake and I know I'll feel like shit tomorrow.

Thursday ~ Happy New Year! I was right about feeling like shit even though I got up at 9am since the dogs went to bed at 10:30. I pretty much just puttered around all day, feeling guilty that I wasn't being more productive then reminding myself that I decided productivity could wait until Monday. Well, I intend to take down the tree after Timothy, Summer, Lori, and Noah come open presents Saturday, but unpacking and organizing in earnest can wait until Monday. Made a chocolate sheet cake since Kyle loves it and I didn't make it at Christmas. Realized I had no buttermilk for it so went to Food Lion. What is that, the 100th time this week I've been there? lol Anyway, they were completely out of buttermilk. WTF. I bought the powdered stuff that I've never used before. It worked fine for the cake, but the frosting was way too dry, so I added some heavy whipping cream I had when I made the quiche. Much better and tastes fine. I wonder if I can just use the heavy whipping cream all the time for the cake. Buttermilk isn't something we drink and there are no pints I can get. The recipe calls for 1/2 cup and 6 tablespoons. The conversion for the powder is tricky for the frosting which is probably why it came out too dry. When this cake is gone I think I'll try it with the cream instead and see what happens. Made pork chops for dinner.

Friday ~ Woke up at 7:30, but lazed in bed until the 8am alarm. After the usual morning chores and breakfast I emptied a tub of books and sorted some Halloween plushes into it. That just leaves a partial box of misc. plushes that are for other holidays. I'll need to find another clear tub to put those in so I can see them or go buy a tub. Emptied a box that had puzzles and games in it and some of Trip's stuff. Changed out my mailbox banner, Christmas curtain, and Christmas rugs. Cleaned all the ceiling fans, changed the furnace filters and air purifier filter. Kyle had a doctor appointment in the afternoon. Made lasagna for dinner. Stayed up too late watching Bones.  Zack is gone and now it's a rotation of the interns. Boo to Zack, but yay to interns!

Saturday ~ It rained. Got up way late at 9:30. Hurried to get the furries fed and the dogs walked. Even though they went out late last night I hate making them wait to go potty. Actually, I just hate being off schedule. Started the usual Saturday cleaning. Did my bathroom and laundry room. Timothy, Summer, Lori, and Noah came to open presents. Later Jess came and opened her presents and took Ellie's with her. I made a pot of potato and broccoli soup for her to take home. Anna had a bowl of it and the rest of us did a fend for ourselves. I had a plate of cheeses, meats, buffalo chicken dip, hummus, crackers and naan with some grapes. Watched some Bones and finished this post.

Today We need to dig the tubs out of my closet and put away Christmas stuff. The tree needs to go outside to join the 3 other trees we've never gotten around to burning and now birds are sheltering in them. lol I need to store some things under Kyle's bed, so I'll have him help me do that. His bed frame lifts up on hydraulics to store stuff under it, but I don't know how hard it will be to lift with his mattress on it. We'll see tomorrow. After the Christmas stuff is put up, I may rearrange my closet. That will take some time. I plan on making meatloaf and Hamburger Helper for dinner.

Touching Nature:  Cold, warm, cold, warm. So...typical NC weather.

Book News:  Listened a bit to a book while Kyle was at his doctor's appointment.

Don't Touch That Dial!: I've just been mindlessly rewatching Bones and recharging my batteries.

At the Flicks: Nope.

Cyberspace Playground: Wordle, Word Lots, Crossword Jam, Solitaire, the Finch app - if anyone wants to be friends just let me know.

Randomness:   Did that rock come from ACME?

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: You have ONE life. Live it the way you want and don't feel guilty about it.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.
