Hello and Happy Sunday!
On the Home Front 🎄⛄
Sunday ~ I intended to relax and maybe putter around. Instead, I rounded up my trusty sidekick, Backpack Blower, and we ventured forth in the final battle of Leafageddon. Number V, I think? Anyway, we chased the last of the Leafy Horde off the driveway and into the woods, but during the midst of battle, Backpack Blower developed a horrible case of the hiccups and coughs. It may be time for exploratory surgery, so it can feel like new again. Anna and I did the litterboxes and cleaned the cats' new water fountain. When we set it up last week in the laundry room (when we moved the freezer back in), it took them a bit to actually use it. They were wary of this newfangled piece of equipment, stepping closer slowly, craning their necks, then backing slowly away. Sugarcube was the first to drink from it, but it took Captain Kirk a bit longer to trust it. Now we see them drinking from it all the time. I'm not sure if Eevee drinks from it since she's only out in the main area at night after Artemis is tucked away in her crate. I should set up a trail cam to see. lol Then I made boiled eggs in the Instant Pot before doing up a pot of rice then Mississippi Pot Roast. I did play Pokemon during Community Day (2-5pm) all while working in the kitchen or sitting at my table eating a snack and Halloween candy.
Monday ~ Up at 4am to take Kyle to work. I guess OT is on the schedule for this week. Went back to sleep when I got home then up at 8am. Puttered around most of the day but didn't really get much done. Since it's December 1st we're starting our Advent Teas from Plum Deluxe. I created a category of its own down below. Leftovers for dinner.
Tuesday ~ Changed the sheets on my bed. Waded through emails in the morning then went to see the divorce lawyer. I'll need to discuss with the wasband the options given. Chilly rain all day. I did very little in the way of sorting or cleaning. I'm just having such a hard time getting going. Ugh. I did manage to clean the shelves in Trip's room then I unboxed rugs to put on the bottom and put the sleeping bags up top. The two boxes with my storage cabinets came. They need to be put together. I'll just add them to the mile long list. I'm sure the boys will get to them this weekend. Made pigs in a blanket for dinner.
Wednesday ~ Had to scrape Kyle's car windows before taking him to work at 4:20. When I got back I scraped Anna's windows before going back to bed until 8. Tossed my clothes into the washer. Nancy came to do the dog nails at 9. Moved clean clothes to dryer. After awhile dryer was making a funny noise so I went to investigate. Turns out one of the strings from a pair of jammie pants got stuck up by the light. I could not get the damn thing out so I cut it as close to the rim as I could get. No further noises. I have no idea where the cut piece is inside. 🤷 Then at 11:15 I took Trip to a doctor appointment. He had a spot where his leg meets his torso that he thought was a pimple that got irritated, but I didn't like how it looked. Turns out it's something called hidradenitis suppurativa and it's fairly common but has no cure. He's had two of these bumps behind his knee which is one of the areas that can be affected. He was told to follow up with his dermatologist, but to keep it clean and covered. Then we stopped at ACE Hardware for an outside timer for the Christmas lights before moving on to Food Lion for some groceries. Put stuff away, put a frozen pie in the oven, dumped the compost can, and Trip helped me feed the critters. I put all the batteries and light bulbs I could find in the dresser that now resides by the patio door. I had already put all the candles in the bottom drawer a few days ago along with all my pretty thrifted saucers to set them on in the drawer above. Leftovers for dinner.
Thursday ~ Was going to get the oil changed in the Pilot then do Christmas shopping, but decided shopping would be more than enough to handle for the day. Trip and I were gone about about 3 hrs, but it felt like forever especially since the line at Kohl's was, like, a mile long. We hit the pet store, Lowe's, Hallmark, Kohl's, BJ's, BJ's gas, Five Below, and Freddy's before stopping back at the pet store because the lady forgot to give me a bag and I didn't even notice. lol While I was at Hallmark Trip was at B&N doing some shopping. I'm really beginning to hate errands and shopping of any kind. Especially this time of year.
Friday ~ Work had a 2 hr delay so Anna took Kyle to work when she had to go in. It was cold and sleety, but not really slippery here. I puttered around most of the day. I did get my clothes folded and my bed linens then did a load of towels. I reorganized the Christmas presents and counted everything up. And came up short on Trip. How?! He's the easiest to buy for! lol Anyway, I placed an online order (not from evil 'Zon), so that completes my shopping for kids and grands. Only thing left is stocking stuff which I'll get at Five Below this coming week. Oh, and a stop at the Hallmark store for cards. I also rearranged the shoes in the shoe shelving in my office so I could put pet blankets on some of the shelves. I'm slowly emptying boxes which feels good, but there's still so much stuff. It keeps getting shuffled around because not everything is in its place yet. If I can just get Trip's soon-to-be room cleared and painted, at least the boys can put his bed together and that big fucking box will be out of the craft area. That will only leave Kyle's bed, also in a big fucking box in the craft area. lol
Saturday ~ Up at 4am to take Kyle to work then back to bed until 8. Slow to get up and then lazy until around 10. Loaded his car with things to drop at the Hospice Thrift Store then took off. There was no one waiting in the loading dock line, so I was able to drop off and get back on the road quickly. Which put me at Kyle's work about 10 minutes early. No worries though. I just listened to (and finished) my book. When we got home Trip was already putting together one of my craft cabinets. Kyle started on the other while Anna and I took the ewaste to Greensboro then hit Red Wing for work safety boots for her. When we got home we cleared the entertainment center in Trip's soon-to-be room and when the boys were done doing assembly work they loaded it into the Pilot. Afterwards they were finally able to remove the window A/C unit in their room. Yay! Anna and I dropped the entertainment center off at the Hospice Thrift Store right before they were closing then we hit up Lowe's where I returned a register cover that was too large and picked up some velcro tabs so I can stick them under the laundry room sink with some clips to hold up a pee pad against the back wall of my new cabinet in case Sugarcube pees over the side of the new litterboxes I just got. They have higher sides and are a bit longer then the slightly less new litterboxes. She was peeing over the shorter ones every single fucking time. It's like...why?! Anyway, I'm just trying to keep my cabinet walls and floor from smelling like cat piss. Andy did bring the cabinet all the way to the floor with no toe kick. There is no cabinet bottom in that section. So, just in case the worst happens, it's easier to replace the flooring than the whole damn cabinet. However, I worry she'll blast the back wall, so I'm just trying to do some preventative measures. Some sticky velcro with clips attached should hold a pee pad vertical. I'll try it out tomorrow. Ordered Domino's for dinner.
Today ~ Need to do the cleaning, especially the litterboxes. The kids want to get to the decorating, so I'll have to unload the closet so I can get to the decorations. I figure Anna can help me put the lights on the tree then we'll do ornaments. After that, Trip wants to put up the Christmas lights so we'll need to stick the Command hooks I bought to the new ceiling. However, I want to measure between each clip so they are uniform. It'll take more time, but once it's done they can stay up all year round since they are clear. Actually, Kyle could probably help him with that while Anna and I do the tree lights. I'll need to clear off the top of dad's entertainment center so we can put the village up. And if we could get the china cabinet out to the living room from my bedroom I can clear off the mantle to make room for Christmas stuff. We'll see how it goes.
Coming week ~ I have to get out of my apathetic funk and get some shit done around here. I bought some wood glue to fix 2 chairs, so I'll tackle that. Craft stuff needs unboxed and put away. I don't even care if it's any kind of order at this point. Just get it put up to free laundry baskets, tubs, and boxes. lol I need some shorter ethernet cords for the computer area, so I'll have to find those somewhere, probably Lowe's. I need to take some gravel up to the top of the drive. I'm not really ready to tackle putting it under the deck yet. Plus, the weather has been shitty. Need to build a firewood holder for the back deck. It's just a matter of cutting 2x4s the right length because I bought some metal corners at Lehman's and they all fit together. Paint Trip's soon-to-be room if I can get it emptied. ←Top Priority
