Hello and Happy Sunday!
On the Home Front
Sunday ~ RECAP from last Sunday's post since I didn't post until Monday.
Up again for the sunrise and tea. Breakfast at Kate's. I showered then we packed everything up. Kyle wanted to go to Breeza (beach shop and gifts) on the Boardwalk, so we walked there before hitting the road. Home around 3:00-ish. Unpacked the Pilot. Kyle got his shower and started laundering his and Trip's clothes. Then while I was unpacking everything I tasked the kids to set up the new T-Mobile gateway. Because I knew it was going to be a PITA. And it was. Anna ended up calling tech support and finally got it going. Honestly? I do not think it is any better than the old gateway. In fact, I think the wifi signal is actually worse. We'll see if it's just bugs that need to be worked out of the system or it's actually just plain ol' crap. Trip and I picked up Bojangles for dinner. I was so tired. I was in bed before 9.

This is why we go to Kate's. SO much better than IHOP. lol
Monday ~ Washed towels and stuff from beach trip. Worked on the Sunday Post and went through a million +/- emails.
Tuesday ~ I don't remember what I did. Probably still getting caught up from being gone.
Wednesday ~ Countertop people came to take away the laundry room countertop and sink. Called an appliance guy to come look at the washer. It won't drain and spin. He showed up with barely enough time for me to leave to get Kyle for his dental app't. Repair guy said it might be wiring harness so he ordered part and told me he needs the washer emptied. Oh, joy. There's blankets in it. Also had him order a gasket for my fridge. And when he comes back I'll have him replace the light. It's an LED panel that I bought, like, a year ago, but was waiting for the light to go completely out. But it seems like it never will, so I'll just have him install it.
Thursday ~ Trip had a doctor appointment at 9:40 then we did the grocery shopping. Stopped at Lowe's to pick stain for front porch then hit BJ's, pet store, and Food Lion. Countertop guys came around 1:30 to replace newly cut countertop and install new larger sink. Perfect! Made a whole chicken with carrots and baby red potatoes in the Dutch Oven.
Friday ~ Guys here to finish backsplash and grout. Also, flooring guys came to replace the scratched boards by front door (from the counter guys bringing in the massive island top) and they injected some glue into an area by the pantry that was very bouncy. Said to give it 24 hrs to set before walking on it. Anna came home because she was feeling crappy. Took a Covid/Flu test and it was negative. Tile and floor guys left before I had to leave to pick up Kyle. Both electrical and plumbing inspectors here and everything passed. Yay! Just need final build inspection now. Picked Kyle up from work. Ordered Chinese for dinner.
Saturday ~ Took T-Mobile old gateway to T-Mobile store (because new gateway is square and flat and old gateway is a round tower) but they were busy and slow as fuck. So I hit up Petsmart for a few things then stopped at Goin' Postal for a different box so I could send back the gateway before I got charged for it. Stopped at Jeweler's Mark to pick up Trip's Christmas present and order something for Kyle, hit up Food Lion since it's in the same plaza, to pick up a few things I forgot, picked up prescriptions at CVS, then went to the BBQ sale at the local church. They're doing it differently now. You can get a package that includes a pound of BBQ, a pack of 8 buns, slaw, pintos, and a small bottle of sauce. Then I added 4 desserts. So we have more food I had to stuff in the fridge. Trip and Kyle spent the day putting together more items from Wayfair - everything except the desk I'll use for my sewing machine. I don't have the spot cleared out yet. Still waiting on 2 bookcases. I crossed a few items off my To Do List and then emptied the washer as best I could.
Today I need to pick up a new mop. I threw mine out yesterday because it pissed me off. lol I had bought a new head for it, but no matter what I did it wouldn't go on. Then my temper flared and out the door it went. I was already pissed about hand-wringing out a million blankets and bailing out 16 gallons of water with a cup, so 🤷. It was an old mop anyway. And I don't like the mop I bought for the new floors, so I'll look for something else. Maybe I'll make a trip to Lowe's. I need a piece of plexiglass for the top of Trip's buffet that they put together and he'll be using for his aquariums. And I need some white 1x4s and wall anchors to hang the cubes they put together. I may save the usual cleaning for tomorrow.
Construction News ~ Everything is nearly done. Final building inspection hopefully Monday then I can move my freezer back into the laundry room. That will mean I will have more room to move stuff around. I still have many boxes to go through and I need to empty Trip's soon-to-be room so I can paint it and the boys can put together his bed. Then they can take apart their bunkbed and put together Kyle's bed. Andy should be back Monday or Tuesday to put the doors on my laundry room sink cabinet. He was cutting a cat hole in one door since the litter boxes will be under the sink. After that, it's just some clean up, and Raul will be by to pressure wash the front porch before he stains it. I'll need to let the electrician know we're ready for the floor outlets.
Touching Nature: It was definitely chilly the beginning of the week then warmed up to the 70s. Supposed to drop again tonight for a few days then back up again. I fell like Ma Nature is playin' us like a yo-yo.
Book News: I've literally read nothing this week.
Don't Touch That Dial!: Finally finished Buffy and jumped to season 5 of Angel. Sometimes Anna and I watch her YT subscriptions, like Doctor Mike or Girl with Her Dogs, etc.
At the Flicks: Nope.
Cyberspace Playground: Wordle, Word Lots, Crossword Jam, Solitaire, the Finch app - if anyone wants to be friends just let me know.
Randomness:

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: There are days when the only reason my ducks are in a row is because they are decoys.
That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

Wow!
I just checked and I have 527 audiobooks in my Chirp Library. 👀
I really need to step up on my listening now that I'm not driving Kyle back-n-forth to work.
I picked up some more books this week. Some were Friday Freebies that I actually got on Monday because we were at the beach. Then a couple were on my wishlist and they went on sale. Then I hit up the Friday Freebies for this week.

You really got the audiobooks! I have a new plan to try to listen to more of mine in 2026. We will see if it works. Congrats for surviving Construction hell and having the nice new place. Thanks for sharing photos from your trip!
