Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front

Sunday ~ Went to BJ's to get gas and get some groceries. Then took Trip to B&N to spend his gift cards. On the way home the battery light came on in the Pilot so instead of going to Food Lion I took it home and parked it. Then I took Kyle's car to Food Lion for groceries and Biscuitville for everyone for lunch.

Monday ~ Flooring was installed. They did everything except the shoe moldings and the transitions. They'll be back in the morning to do those. I corralled the cats in their room and the dogs in my office so the guys could go in and out unmolested. After taking Trip to his doctor appointment to check the abscess on the back of his knee, I worked on my computer. The dishwasher has been leaking for some time if the mold inside my kitchen cupboard is any indication, so I declared it condemned. I put an X of tape on it so no one would load it. I'll have to do dishes by hand until the kitchen is remodeled. I already have a new dishwasher. I bought it in January.

Tuesday ~  Guys came to finish up the flooring. It looks so nice! I worked on the computer for most of the day.

Wednesday ~ Trip and I worked outside. We sorted and moved leftover lumber then he did the weed eating and I did the mowing. It was so bad out I thought I was manscaping Satan's taint. I had to take a break doing the side yard then had Trip finish the small amount in the front while I went inside to hydrate with water and a V8 and put my feet up. After about 30 minutes I felt better so I went out and finished the other side yard. I did not attempt up the drive. While mowing the left front wheel suddenly kicked out 90º from the mower. I limped along until done then looked at it. I thought I lost a nut and/or bolt, but no. The frame is broke where it attaches. So we'll try drilling 2 holes and zip tie it back together. It just needs to tide my over until I decide on a new push mower. Maybe an electric one. I had a nice long cool shower when done then picked up Kyle from work. When we got home I got in the Pilot, which thankfully started, then drove it to Black's Tire with no AC nor any windows down. I wasn't sure how much of a charge my battery had left and I didn't want to tax it. I made it, sweaty but still running! Anna was already there from work to pick me up. Is it weird that I said all kinds of nice things to my Pilot to make sure she got me there? After we all went to bed we got thunder and lightning and about 1/2" of rain.

Thursday ~ Electricians came to do their portion of the build. They were soaked with sweat by the time they left in the afternoon. They'll be back in the morning. Andrew and Bryant dropped off the skidsteer. Got dark, but no thunder and no rain.

Friday ~ Busy day! Got up at 5:30am to take Kyle to work and it was freezing in the house. I checked the thermostat and even though it was set for 72º it said it was 63º. Yowza! ❆When I got back home it had dropped to 62º and it was still blowing cold air even though I had raised it to 78º. I knew the contractor was coming at 8:00, so I went about doing my usual morning shit, like making my tea, emptying the dish drainer, feeding the furries and walking the dogs. Trip and I were just starting outside when the contractor, Bryant, showed up along with Andrew and Larry. I told Bryant about the A/C and he called the HVAC guy who said he'd send someone out. I showed the guys what I wanted saved and where to put it and Bryant told me what backfilling they were going to do. Trip and I got to work moving some very old cut wood that was where I wanted the leftover brick and block to go. Just as we finished Andrew came over with the brick on the skidsteer. Perfect timing. Trip and I started clearing out a pile of the wasband's hoarded wood and, using the Kubota, started tossing it in the dumpster. Just as we decided we needed a hydration break the electricians showed up. Bryant was getting filled in on what Ron and his guys were going to be doing and Bryant told Ron about the freezing house. Ron said he was going to work slow so he could enjoy the coolness. lmao While we were resting another of Ron's guys showed up in another van. That now makes 4 vehicles plus Kyle's. Getting crowded down here. After our break, Trip and I were throwing more junk in the dumpster when the HVAC guys showed up. Another vehicle! And after I showed them inside where the thermostat was and supervised the dogs greeting them, I went back out to a FedEx delivery. Holy shit. It's fucking Grand Central Station around here today. Bryant finally finished what he came to do (cut a piece out of the built-in that was in the way of an outlet cover), so his truck cleared out. HVAC fixed a shorted circuit board and said there's too much moisture under the house. That I should close all the outside vents because of the high humidity. Okaaaay. Ron and I discussed that later and we both thought that didn't make a lot of sense but I did it anyway. I didn't appreciate the HVAC guy's attitude. He acted like it was my fault the board shorted and I was lucky he had one on his truck. Well, ok, asshole. I've never had a unit under the house. Mine was always in the closet in the laundryroom. No one instructed me as to how to keep the humidity levels down or that it would even be a fucking problem. Ron suggested a dehumidifier and I asked if there was a socket under there to plug one in and he said he might know a guy who could install one. lmao Ron is hilarious. Anyway, A/C was fixed and they left. Then Andrew and Larry finished their stuff and they took off. Which was when I realized the truck and trailer for the skidsteer was up the drive on the road. Duh. lol That left the electricians and one of the outlets was giving them fits slowing them down, so they took off around 2:00ish with a few more things that need done. They'll be back Monday morning. They had to install my lights in the access spaces so they were once again dripping in sweat. I told them to go hydrate and have a good weekend. I mean, they didn't even take a lunch, so leaving at 2:00-ish was no big deal. I picked up Kyle then when we got home I took Trip to get his Pokestop. Bryant texted that the wood burning stove would be delivered around 5:15. They showed up right on time. They brought it in on a rolling dolly. Then it took the two guys, Bryant, and Trip to lift it up onto the platform while I pulled the dolly out of the way. Whew! Heavy fucker. Bryant left and the stove was installed by 6:30-ish only to find out it was missing something to attach my dragon brackets that hold up the side shelves. So the guy is going to call the place Monday and find out why they weren't sent and when they'll be delivered. In any case, the stove is installed for final inspection. Yay! I ordered Domino's for dinner. What a day! Timothy had texted that the Pilot was ready and I was going to pick it up, but with so much going on I told him we'd pick up tomorrow.

Bonus picture of my new ceiling fan.

Saturday ~ I got up at 6:30 to feed the furries and walk the dogs so we could head over to Black's Tire to pick up the Pilot and have breakfast at Pano's. Kyle decided he wanted to stay home. His loss. We ate and I grabbed the Pilot and we came home. Then Anna and I went thrifting. We hit the Hospice store, Living Free Superstore, and the Habitat for Humanity Restore looking specifically for patio furniture for the back deck and rugs and a few other things for the new rooms before we had to head home so Anna and Trip could go to Lori's 3rd birthday party. I don't do birthday parties. I send presents with Trip. Trip and his dad used to do the party scene, but that's not an option now so Anna takes Trip. Right after they left it got dark, started thundering, and poured. Anna called and said it was storming at the park where they were and everyone was stuffed under a shelter while thunder boomed and lightning bolted across the sky. I had lunch on the front porch, appreciating how it doesn't leak. Then I feel asleep on the couch for a bit. Fed the furries before researching dehumidifiers then working on this post. I'm so tired. I just want to sleep for 100 hours.

Today I'm not getting up earlier than 8am if I can help it. Then I need to do the cleaning. Anna and I might hit 2 consignment places that open at noon. I need to go to Lowe's (or somewhere) to get a dehumidifier and some kind of swiffer for the new floors.

Construction News ~ Monday the electricians will finish their part, hopefully in the morning so there's time to see if an inspector will come out in the afternoon. Raul, the painter, will need to come out to do touch ups and bring the shelving he painted. The siding guy needs to come back and fix some ceiling panels on the front porch and back deck where he cut the holes a little too big for the can lights, so the cuts show. A complete building inspection will need to be done, also hopefully this week. Once inspections are done I will start moving furniture back in to Anna's room from the Pack Rats. Then I can call to get the 8' one picked up. Hopefully I can fit all the other stuff in the new livingroom, stacked against the walls so I can get rid of the other larger Pack Rat. I really need them gone. Not only do they cost me money every month, but they take up too much room. The generator platform still needs built and the generator hooked up with a house to cover it. And my front flower boxes need built. Oh! And my mantel pieces are still outstanding.

Touching Nature: Hot, hot, hot! And humid! So gross. Much disgusting.

Book News: Audiobooks is all I've done here. No reviews have been written.

Don't Touch That Dial!:  Still watching CSI:NY. Anna and I will get back to Lost at some point.

At the Flicks: Nope

Cyberspace Playground: Wordle, Word Lots, Crossword Jam, Solitaire, the Finch app - if anyone wants to be friends just let me know.

Randomness:  Rude.

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: When it is so hot and humid, if you have to work outside, take frequent breaks and hydrate. Not just with water. Drink something with nutrients, preferably caffeine-free. V8 is especially tasty to me when I've been sweating a lot. And I was sweating so much this week even my ponytail scrunchie was soaking wet.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.
