Hello and Happy Sunday!
On the Home Front:
Sunday ~ If you missed last Sunday's Post (that actually was on Monday because we went to Carolina Beach for the weekend lol) I've c&p'd it here: We had breakfast at Kate's Pancakes. I took Trip to Kure pier which turned out to be closed so he fished from the surf. Kyle went along and helped me search for shells. Anna stayed in the room to relax. Then we went back, packed up, checked out, loaded the Pilot, and went down to the beach one last time before heading for home. On the way we stopped at McKay's in Mebane so Trip could look at the Funko Pops. We rolled in to the homestead around 4:30ish. Unpacked the Pilot and our bags, fed the furries, ordered Dominos then relaxed.
Monday ~ Spent the day playing catch up from being gone over the weekend and not doing much social media or even looking at emails. Jess spent the weekend moving stuff out since she and Ellie have an apartment now. Yay! I bet they're happy to have their own space again. She's working all week so can't move anymore stuff, but I'm thinking I might rent a small U-Haul this weekend and load up all her stuff so we only need to do one trip. I'll play it by ear.
Tuesday ~ Made a trip to the B&N in Greensboro because Trip was looking for a specific Funko Pop. He didn't find it but found two others he liked. Hit the Five Below next door while there. At noon I went to get a third piercing in my left ear because the 2nd one I got many many many years ago that I had re-pierced a few months ago is too close to the other piercing and the earring backs fight each other. I was going to let the second hole close but then decided I could just use it for danglies that have a fishhook or similar post. Then I decided, what the hell. I'll just get a set and went for a second piercing in my right ear. So that earring now has a companion after 47 years of being solo. lol My first ear piercing was for my 10th birthday. My mom and aunt went and had theirs done with me. Only for my mom to find out later, when she attempted to wear costume jewelry, that she's allergic to nickel. So it had to be the good stuff or nothing for her. Anna has inherited that allergy. She can't wear plated gold and even has a hard time with stainless steel. I, on the other hand, can wear any ol' piece of junk. 😬 Anna came home and said her car was acting up and when she came out of her appointment the radio said "enter code". Sounds like a battery thing so I'll have it checked tomorrow.
Wednesday ~ Trip and I did the grocery shopping (BJ's and Food Lion) but forgot to hit the pet store. 🤦 We'll go Friday morning. We also hit B&N in Burlington and he found the Demon Slayer Funko Pop he was searching for so he was happy. Anna took Kyle's car to work so I could take her car to O'Reilly's and have them check the battery. It passed on that, the alternator, and starter, so not sure what's going on with it. Trip and I had lunch at Waffle House. Talked with the contractor and was told lumber and trusses would be delivered tomorrow and the framers starting on Monday. Woot! The masons came to add the additional vent in Anna's room addition that the inspector said it needed. I made the kids grilled cheese for dinner. I wasn't hungry, so I went out and used the Kubota and then a rake to spread what was left of the construction glitter (backfill lol) around the drive in anticipation of the deliveries. Then I made a frozen Healthy Choice meal for my dinner and then completely ruined the healthy part by having a Hostess cherry pie for dessert.
Thursday ~ Got up a bit late. On the weeks that Kyle is working OT (like this week) I shoot for 7:00 or 8:00 depending on what the day looks like since I go back to bed after dropping him off and coming back home (around 5:15). I knew lumber was coming but didn't know what time so set an alarm for 7:00. Turned that off then woke up with the 8:00 alarm. Dozed a bit more before getting my tired ass up at 8:20. It's ok though because the lumber didn't come until afternoon. Anna and Trip went to Kyleigh's soccer game which was a win. I may have fallen victim to a Chirp bundle sale. I really need to stop opening those emails.
Friday ~ Trip and I ran a few errands: CVS, ACE Hardware, and the pet store. Contractor had the OSB dropped after lunch. That should be all that's needed for the framers. I hope the rain holds off on Monday or it just rains Sunday. 🤞🤞 Dumpster is scheduled for Monday. It'll be smaller than the first one. Thank goodness since we're tight on space down here. I did my usual Saturday cleaning since it didn't get done last weekend. I folded approx. 1 million towels, my clothes, Anna's clothes, and I washed up all the blankets and pillow cases from the living room and 2 loads of pet blankets. Cleaned out all the questionable food from the fridge, put away pet food, and washed the dishes. Forecast is showing rain for Sunday and Monday. Sunday is ok, but no rain on Monday. Absolutely not. I want the framers to get going on the porch and then the additions. It got up to 79º in the house. I need those additions to move along so we can get the new heat pump. I hate being hot! After picking up Kyle from work we stopped at the jewelers to pick up the cute as fuck earrings I ordered (dolphins, starfish, sea horse danglies, and octopus earrings that remind me of Cthulhu lol) when I had my ears pierced. My new ring I bought a few weeks ago was also ready. I had dropped it off to be resized. It just needed to go up in size a tiny bit, about 1/4 size. I told her to go up just a scooch which is a term my very first employer used to indicate a small amount, like just a bit or a smidge. lolol
Saturday ~ Woke up around 8:00. So nice sleeping in. Stripped my bed and washed the bed stuff. Toddled around the internet for a bit before going out to play on the Kubota while Trip and Anna went to Kyleigh's soccer game which they won 3-1. I evened out the dirt out front first with the Kubota then a rake and shovel and uncovered the cement pads for the porch support posts that had been buried with a hard rain. I took the extra dirt and created a dam in the driveway so if we do get thunderstorms the rain doesn't flood down the drive straight into the lumber. I cut up 2 quarts of strawberries, cut a large pork loin into chops, and cleaned the pantry before taking a shower. It is currently 81º in the house. I hate this. Read for the rest of the evening.
Today ~ Since the lumber is currently in front of the storage pod I decided not to get a Uhaul for Jess's stuff this weekend. It should be gone this week if the weather cooperates so I'm aiming to rent one next weekend. Anna and I will strip her bed and wash her stuff as well as the bunkbed where Ellie was sleeping. While stuff is laundering I want to start packing up the stuff in her room. She has so many knickknacks and shit that it's going to take awhile to do and we need to have it all out by the time the contractor is ready to knock out her wall. I also need to get more boxes.
Touching Nature: Chilly then warm, chilly then warm. Our temps are like a roller coaster.
Book News: I really don't have much to report here. I am approaching 40 reviews that need written, mostly audiobooks. It's a bit overwhelming, to be honest. But I know I can knock out a few here and there once things settle down a bit. I have been re-reading a few favorites by Dianne Duvall, simply because I didn't get to read all day for my birthday and I did no reading and no audiobooks on our beach trip. Instead we listened to some podcast of Anna's. Creepcast I think its called. The story was about a guy and his friend who went spelunking and found something super creepy.
Don't Touch That Dial!: Nothing. I have watched a bit of some things Anna has been watching, like this pet groomer she likes and a lady in Australia who has an interesting channel about science.
At the Flicks: Nope
Cyberspace Playground: Wordle, Word Lots, Crossword Jam, Solitaire, jigsaw puzzles, the Finch app - is anyone wants to be friends just let me know.
Randomness: Holy shit. This is the truthiest truth that ever truthed.
Randomness: Holy shit. This is the truthiest truth that ever truthed.
Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: Don't doom scroll. It's too fucking depressing. Catch up quick on what's going on then attack your day. Don't linger over what Felon47 and his traitors are doing. Just do what you can to thwart them, but don't neglect yourself.
That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

Nope
Chirp sucked me in. Again.
Damn you! Ok, not really.
However, I should probably stop opening their emails for awhile. lol

I also like the Chirp bundles. I got the first 7 of Ilona Andrews' Kate Daniels on Graphic audio. Thanks for sharing the last week as I missed it. You seem to be making lots of good progress. Even when it is supposed to rain we don't seem to get very much. I'm needing to water the garden some.
