Hello and Happy Sunday!
On the Home Front: So, last Sunday our power went out around 9am until after 3pm. A bit over 6 hrs. It was pretty windy, so not sure what happened, but I'll guess a large limb or a tree came down. The lights flickered a bit before the power went out completely. I was kicking myself for not filling the bathtub when I got up and realized how fucking windy it was. In another month or so it won't matter because we'll have our generator. Woot! I managed to finish a book in that time, so yay! Kyle wasn't happy because he wanted to game all day since he worked OT all week including Saturday.
Speaking of...the renovations are set to begin Tuesday. The approval email came through Monday and the contractor was just waiting for the actual building permit which came in Friday. The dumpster and port a potty will be delivered tomorrow and the electrician will start Tuesday by moving the electric meter to it's temporary spot. Then the back deck will be demo'd followed by the front porch. We'll have temporary steps out front for access. The weather all week is supposed to be nice. Let's hope it stays that way.
I spent this week running around doing errands, doing a big grocery stock up so I won't have to buy anything for awhile, having Anna's car fixed (engine light was on, needed two sensors and the thermostat replaced) & getting a quote for some body work, taking Kyle's car in for oil change and safety inspection, and canceling all my subscriptions (18 of them) with Amazon. For pet stuff I was able to get most everything with Chewy. The rest I'll figure out as I go along.
Artemis had an app't Weds to check her eye pressures (a little low but ok) and get her Proheart 6 shot.
Kyle took Friday off so we did his car then and had breakfast at the diner next door. That was twice for me and Trip since we had Anna's car fixed Tuesday morning. lol We stopped at Academy Sports so he could get a new warm jacket (his was too small) and we attempted the car wash but it was packed. I guess everyone wanted the road salt off their cars. We picked up a tasty treat at DQ. Then I did a late grocery pick up including stuff for the critters, brought that home to unpack then decided to hit BJ's instead of waiting until Monday and swung back to DQ to pick up dinner. It was a long day.
Saturday I got the cleaning all done and cleaned and tidied 3 kitchen cupboards before showering. Anna spent the day traveling back from Alaska. Long layover in Seattle then a delay in Cincinnati meant I was late going out to pick her up in Raleigh. Her flight was supposed to land at 9:27pm.
Today I need to make a quick run to Food Lion and pick up some prescriptions at CVS. I may run to the pet store to get canned dog and cat food. Then I just want to read. However, we're going to pick up sticks and limbs in the back yard, remove the last of the things from the back deck (not much left there) and remove everything left from the front porch first. I have to move the trailer so the dumpster has a spot, too. But reading is definitely on the agenda.
Touching Nature: Got cold again and had some snow on Weds. And a bit on Thursday. Nothing much to write home about but it was pretty. We're going to warm up this coming week. Yay!
Book News: Did you know that Amazon is getting rid of the download to computer option? After February 26th you'll only be able to access your books through Amazon Cloud. That's it. I'm downloading as many of my books to my computer as possible. Especially of the docs I've sent over the many years. Since my old computer crashed I lost many of those files that I had sent to my Kindle. Plus, I'm downloading the ones I actually bought and didn't get for free. I am not pleased with Amazon's decision. Just another reason to ditch them.
Don't Touch That Dial!: Still CSI: NY. Anna is back so we'll finish Lucifer.
At the Flicks: Nope
Cyberspace Playground: Wordle, Word Lots, Crossword Jam, Solitaire, jigsaw puzzles, the Finch app - is anyone wants to be friends just let me know.

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: The Traitor in the White House is doing everything in his power to burn this country to the ground. Times are bleak and despair reigns. However, hope remains. People are standing up all over the country. Do not let President Musk and Puppet President Trump win. Rise Up and fight in any way you can. Sign petitions, call your reps every single day, and, if possible, speak with your money which is the only thing oligarchs understand. Buy nothing for as long as possible (except from small local businesses). And remember, there are WAY more of us than of them. Fight back or there won't be anything left to fight for.
That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.
