Hello and Happy Sunday!

(image from internet)
Happy 27th & 56th Birthday to Anna (9/13) and husband (9/15)!

On the Home Front:  Busy, busy. Trying to car shop and not finding squat in Jess's price range. Ugh. We test drove one car that needs work, but the guy wouldn't come down in price. Some sucker is going to pay that price and then have to dump even more money into it. Oh well. Grocery pick up was Friday instead of Thursday because for some reason Thursday was marked full. Wtf? Ellie left for Disney World on Weds with her grandparents so Jess is having child-free time. Anna's new job is going well, but her feet are killing her by the time she gets home. They got her mini cupcakes Friday for her birthday and a Panera gift card. How sweet! She's only been there since 8/30. Had Duke Energy come out and mark a spot for a safety light and pole. It gets really dark here in the woods and my night vision is terrible. Got the estimate for a garage and about choked. Yeah, that's going to have to wait. Saturday cleaning got done as well as some laundry. Hoping to read today and do a few more loads of laundry. Kyle bought Texas Roadhouse for dinner Saturday to cover Anna's birthday Friday and husband's today. With leftovers, I do not have to cook.

Touching Nature: Very nice Fall-like weather. Got some rain that wasn't forecasted until next week. Grrrr. Don't have to mow yet. If I'm lucky, and the weather holds, I may have 1 more mow this year. Then it'll be time for Leafageddon! I planted some mums in planters and Trip and I wrapped 5 firewood racks with plastic poultry fencing to help keep them from toppling when the squirrels run across them. We'll see if that helps. Husband and I cut down a twin poplar tree by our Exterior Library. For those who don't know, a twin is a tree that starts off with one trunk then divides into 2 trees. They almost always rot in the "crotch" because water gathers there, so we took them down before they came down on their own. Good thing because they were rotten inside about 10' up through the trunk.

Book News: I have nothing to report here. This is just not my year for reading.

Don't Touch That Dial!: Criminal Minds and started yet another rewatch of Cold Case because I couldn't remember where I left off on my last one. lol

At the Flicks: Nope

Cyberspace Playground: Wordle, Word Lots, Crossword Jam, Solitaire, the Finch app - if you want to be friends just let me know

Randomness:  Who took this picture of me?!

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: Sometimes you just need a gallon of ice cream, a really sharp implement, and a backhoe. Not necessarily in that order.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. Another busy week for you! That rain was unexpected for me and I had just done the weed & feed which may be ruined (not effective). I'm a little more caught up but still tired.

  2. No rain here and none in the forecast. Everyone's grass is dying, so who knows we could be down to the last lawn mowing. My husbands bday is also today!

  3. It's suddenly autumnal weather here too -- last week it still felt like summer, and suddenly it's definitely turned.
