Hello and Happy Sunday!

Happy early Valentine's Day!
(for those who celebrate it)
I prefer February 15th when the chocolate is on sale.

On the Home Front: This was one of those weeks where I didn't really do much of anything. Kyle had to work overtime so he had to be at work at 5am and worked until 3:30pm. Since hubby or I drive him that made for a tired week. Yes, he will practice at some point so he can start driving himself. We aren't going to keep doing this forever. Although, I did say I'd start charging him and he said ok. LOL We did take hubby's CR-V to be inspected so we could get the new sticker for his plate, which meant breakfast at the diner next door. We always enjoy that. Anna's Civic will have to be this week since it also needs an oil change. Then the last one is my Pilot, but not until June.

Friday we got the grandkiddos for a sleepover. Even though this is hubby's 3 day weekend he has to work an extra Saturday every 8th week and this week was it. So, after dropping them off at home he had to go to work. Anna's friends Amanda and Garrett came over to help wrangle Anna's room into some semblence of order while I finished the Saturday cleaning.

Today and tomorrow are supposed to be rainy so even though I wanted to read as much as possible, I think I'll go through some of the boxes from the office. Probably until I get sick of doing it then I'll read. Win-win.

Touching Nature: It's starting to look a lot like Spring!

Book News: Not much going on here. I did manage to write a review though. Woot!

Don't Touch That Dial!:  Bopping between Lucifer and Bones. Hubby started rewatching NCIS and every time the theme song comes on I think my mom is calling. Picking theme music for ringtones is an awful idea because when that person has died it's a shock to hear it.

At the Flicks: Nope

Cyberspace Playground: Wordle, Word Lots, Crossword Jam, Solitaire, jigsaw puzzles

Randomness:

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom:  This image is awesome. Memorize it or save it to your phone. I am because I always have to stop and think about it.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

Purchased ebooks

Ok, so I've already read and reviewed these books, but the author was diagnosed with Pseudo-tumor Cerebri or IH (Intracranial Hypertension) in late 2012. It's a rare disease and her condition has been deteriorating over the years. It has taken away her ability to sit and write (migraines that never end) and she's slowly losing her sight. She has no insurance and can't work. Her disability payments are a joke in this economy and she has to rely on the kindness of friends and her church. Something that's hard for her as I'm sure we can all sympathise. I know giving up my independence and having to rely on others for rides and help with bills and just everyday expenses would drive me batty. She struggles with depression every single day, but keeps fighting on. She's a wonderful person with a great sense of humor and I hate that she's going through this. So, I bought her books and I hope others will, too. They're a great read!
Here's a picture of her dog, Snickers. He keeps her going when she's at her darkest. She calls him her turd monkey. He's definitely a sassy pants.

  1. A sleepover with the grandkids sounds fun. My youngest son wants so bad to spend the night with my parents, but they're in the middle of moving so their house isn't good for company right now. Hope you have a great week!

  2. I hope you got through some boxes and got to read. Healthcare is in a horrible state in this country. It is out there waiting to bankrupt all older or seriously ill people and their families. Often if you lose your job and are in the worst place financially for a bit, you also lose your healthcare. The ACA is an improvement on nothing but they want to take that away. This country has enough wealth to have better care but we are 32 out of 33 countries worldwide. I hope we get some more spring like weather - Saturday was gorgeous.
