--- AVR News Update ---
Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front: I. Am. Exhausted. The Room Renovation Project is nearly complete. The big stuff (and my contribution) anyway. Just her art cupboard to move and her desk to build and my part will be done. Well, except for sorting through all the shit I took out of the spare room and closet (which took me 2 days to do! 1 day longer than I anticipated as I kept running into glitches building the shelves and I broke hubby's 1/16" hex drill bit, but I replaced it with one from Harbor Freight) and is now in my living room. Ugh. It's chaos. I am SO over this mess. I sorted through some of it: threw some away, put some out in the shed, put some off to donate, and electronics out to go to ewaste and rearranged other stuff from the room into the now organized-with-shelves closet. I did manage to convince my daughter to put the new bed in the spare room instead of taking apart her loft bed, moving it there, and putting it back together then creating her new bed in her room. This was SO much easier. We took everything (except a big heavy dresser) out of the spare room, Kyle cleaned the carpet for me, I washed down all the walls, door, and window, then cut the plywood with Kyle's help, and put the bed together. I should have pics next week, but here's a couple of images. Please note: I am not sharing the current mess that surrounds my Christmas tree. lol
Fans are drying the carpet.

We're in the home stretch!

In additional news: I was sound asleep and was rudely awakened Thursday night at 2:30am (or is that considered Friday morning?) by a loud crash. Investigation revealed that a shelf we had installed over our garden tub in the master bath decided to do a Peter Pan (shitty fucking brackets!) and it, as well as everything on it including a plant, landed in the tub. I went out to the living room where hubby was still up (he works 2nd shift) and asked, "Didn't you hear that noise?" He, and then Kyle who got up from his computer, said they thought it was one of the cats knocking something over. I'm glad I'm not the one who fell. No one would have checked on me! Anyway, at least all the mess was in the tub which I did not clean up until late today. Not only did I clean up the mess, but I went out to the shed and found a board that would work better and better brackets I bought for something else and never used and hubby installed it while I showered. Oh, um, we have a separate shower from the garden tub otherwise that would have been an awkward activity.

Touching Nature: A bit chilly in the mornings, but basically nice.

Book News: Not much to report here. I do need to write a review for a tour tomorrow. Better get on that.

Don't Touch That Dial!: Did I mention last week we watched Die Hard for our Christmas movie watch? Anyway, we are way behind on our Christmas movies. Watched some Forged in Fire with Trip and The Mandalorian last night.

At the Flicks: Nope

Cyberspace Playground: This Facebook page is hilarious. Don't be a Karen McScrooge.

Randomness: That's some serious shade there.

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: Don't do large renovation/decorating/rearranging projects by yourself. Ever. You'll regret it. Or maybe that's just me.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. Phantom loud bangs are always the worst! I am glad you found what it was and not like me that sometimes has no idea what that noise was.

I love that you are almost done and that is such a cute bed, my daughter has a loft but it looks different. She needs a new bed soon since I think she is getting too big to climb up the tiny ladder.

I hope you have a great week, Carol! Happy Reading!

  2. I can laugh because the men in my house would be similarly uninterested in investigating.
I hope your daughter will be suitably appreciative of all your hard work! If not, feed her to the Christmas gargoyle :)

Wishing you a great reading week

  3. I love renovation projects and all kinds of projects but they are definitely easier with help.

  4. Fortunately, nobody was under that shelf when it crashed ! My daughters would probably come and see where the noise comes from, but my companion would remain stuck to his computer... You're exhausted now but imagine the pride when everything is finished and the funny stories you'll tell later ;)
