Hello and Happy Sunday!
On the Home Front: This social distancing is really tiring me out! I.Am.Beat. Let's recap:
So, hubby works at a gentleman's club and the NC Gov ordered restaurants and bars to close at 5pm on Tues. So while hubby is laid off he wants to get done as many projects around the house as he can. And by he, he means him, me, and the boys. lol
Tuesday was his off day anyway, so we worked outside cleaning up along the front of the house, tilling the garden area, moving gravel, and starting seeds in egg cartons.
Weds, I finished the front of the house while he worked on the tiller (broken belt) and a few other things.
Thursday was my birthday and I did abso-fucking-lutely nothing productive. I played some Two Point Hospital on Trip's Switch, watched a lot of Supernatural, started a Buffy rewatch, had dinner from Texas Roadhouse that I ordered online and hubby picked up (he said it was a madhouse), had cake, and opened presents. It was a good day.
Friday, hubby, Trip, and Kyle moved wood out from under the shed, moved shit around inside the shed, and put up some plywood on the inside walls so we can start building bookshelves. I helped after I finished cleaning out 2 fridges and a small chest freezer in prep for our appliance delivery on Sat. It was too fucking hot for all of that outside work, but we did it anyway. Also, I now have a full-blown cold despite efforts to stave it off. If it continues my usual cold pattern, I will blow my nose off and sneeze continually for 3 days straight before it tapers off. Much joy. Such sarcasm.
Saturday, the new fridge, upright freezer, and mini fridge arrived! It took nearly ALL DAY to get the old ones out, the new ones in and set up then transfer all the stuff from the two coolers and laundry baskets into the new appliances. In addition, I had to clean up the mess from all of the to-ing and fro-ing. OMFG, I love them so much! I will no doubt be moving shit around in them until I get everything situated the way I want. Right now, I'm happy everything is at the proper temperature even if it is all willy nilly for now. After I fed the dogs at 6pm, hubby and I ventured out into the apocalyptic wasteland that are grocery stores. I hadn't been since last Friday and was totally shocked at how many empty shelves, fridge cases, and freezer cases there were! I mean, when I was out on the 13th mostly what stores were out of was toilet paper, wipes, and bleach. THIS, last evening, was so surreal. I mean, I've read plenty of books with this scenario, but never, in my lifetime, ever expected to live it. Anyway, I need meat and veggies, so we'll go hunting mid-week. I seriously picked the wrong time to get new appliances, but it is SO worth it. PS: It's so funny hearing ice being made again. The ice maker in our old fridge quit many years ago and we never fixed it. lol
Touching Nature: It kept warming up each day until we hit 85º on Friday. WTF Luckily a front moved through that night and yesterday was pleasant again.
Book News: I have nothing to report here. No books finished and no reviews written. I still have 12 to do.
Don't Touch That Dial!: Supernatural binge with hubby. We're now well into season 5. I also started a Buffy the Vampire Slayer rewatch, but only got through episode 1.
At the Flicks: Nothing
Cyberspace Playground: Nothing
Randomness: Truth!
Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: Stay calm and carry on. This too shall pass. Don't forget the first line of defense is hand washing followed closely by don't touch your damn face!

Here's the new appliances. Sorry there's nothing to compare them to but it's 11pm Saturday night and our internet is so fucking slow right now pictures are taking forever to upload. I'm past ready to go to bed.
Final note: I took all three dogs to doggie day care (where my daughter Anna works) while all this hulabaloo was going on and because we needed to take down the cat gate for the delivery guys to fit in the hall and get into the laundry room. For those who don't know, Artemis tries to eat the cats and not in a fun naughty way, so they each have to stay on their respective sides of the house seperated by a homemade gate. While they were at the pet lodge Artemis got into a fight with a Great Dane (wtf) in her play group. Anna had to seperate them and in doing so got a nasty puncture bite on her palm. In addition, Artemis required 3 staples and some meds. Luckily, the vet is right next door to the Pet Lodge. Anna doesn't want to go to the ER or an Urgent Care with all the virus crap going on, so she's emailing our Dr via MyChart to see if she should have a round of antibiotics. If she doesn't get an answer Monday I'll call the office because I think it would be prudent.

ReplyDeleteI hope everything goes okay with Anna, and take good care of yourself. :)
I’m jealous of your new appliances!
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed your birthday, Buffy is next on my rewatch binge I think.
I have a cold too so I sympathise.
Wishing you a great reading week, be well.
Yay for the birthday do nothing! I love the new appliances. I felt that way with the new fridge and mini-fridge when we moved into our house last July. I'm just glad my 27 yo freezer is still doing the job well. It's full to the top right now. So great you got the garden going, I'm not quite there yet.
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better soon and have a healthy week with some great reads!

ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! Wow, you’ve been busy. I’ve done pretty much nothing during my isolation. I read a few books and watched Jurassic Park. I feel lazy. I hope you have a good week!
