Hello and Happy Sunday!
Happy St. Patrick's Day!

On the Home Front:
Last Sunday I survived my first plane ride(s) since 1997. I made it through security with little fuss even though I slept through my 4:00am alarm and woke up at 5:20 and needed to get to the airport for my 7:00am flight. Hubby got me there at 6:05. Whew! B
oth flights were uneventful. Well, flight to Atlanta was uneventful but there was some turbulence going into Akron-Canton, and I thought it was fun, so yay. I also forgot how much fun it is taking off. I love roller coasters so there you go. The ear thing is definitely a pain though. I've only flown a handful of times, but never into Atlanta. Holy shit, that's one big airport! Glad I had an hour and 40 minute layover. It gave me time to get where I needed to go, go to the bathroom, and play some Pokémon as well as do some exploring. Our drive from OH to NC on Monday was smooth sailing. Beautiful weather and hardly any traffic. We couldn't have asked for a better ride. Our stop at my big brother's was also a nice break. We got to meet his new roommate who has the absolute cutest puppers. We got in around 7:30pm and had a serious issue with Artemis. We made the mistake of having my mom go into the house instead of bringing Artemis outside to meet mom. On top of an all day drive I had to deal with an aggressive dog who wanted to eat my mom. It was not a fun end to the day. We did some intense treat training and by the next morning when we switched to high value treats (chicken) she had accepted mom into the pack. Now you would never know that she considered mom a threat. She's all lovey with her, begging for pats, and giving mom kisses. Personally I think Artemis is hoping for more chicken.

We have things planned this coming week. My hubby has put in for vacation for the whole week. Yay! Among the other things we'll be doing, my 51st birthday is Tuesday and we'll have the grandkids Friday. Since we now know Artemis has a territorial problem we're going to drop her off at doggie daycare for the day so we don't have any issues with her around the little ones.

Touching Nature: It's been fairly nice. Except for the rain all day on Friday. The weather is supposed to be nice all week. It's about damn time. Maybe we'll sacrifice the Christmas tree to the S'mores Gods one evening.

Book News: I have no news on this front. I still have 3 reviews to write and I'm hoping to get those done today.

Don't Touch That Dial!: Watched a few Twilight Zone episodes with mom and a couple Criminal Minds with hubby.

At the Flicks: We're going to see Captain Marvel this week. Woot!

Cyberspace Playground: Nope

Randomness:

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: Training a dog takes a lot of work. The end.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  2. Atlanta airport is a bog one. I've flown into/out of there a few times and I think if I didn't have my husband with his freaky navigational abilities I'd never be seen again. (Seriously, I have no sense of direction under any circumstances, lol.)

I hope you have a good week!

  3. I’m glad your flights were uneventful. Sorry about the dog problems. Every dog I’ve had has been sweet, but the current one is dumb as a rock and scared of everything. Training her was a lot of work.

    1. Dogs who just don't get it do require a lot of work. Vengeance still doesn't understand the treat ball. What a doofus. lol

  4. Wow, you've been traveling like crazy! I'm glad your flights went well, even with the late wakeup. I haven't flown since 2004 and when I finally do fly again (assuming it will happen) I'm pretty sure I'll be super freaked.

Happy Birthday!!! I'm glad you're getting such a treat for your birthday with all this travel and time with family :)

Dogs are a lot of work. Period. But gah, they are so worth it. I'm reading a book now - "Tell your dog your pregnant" - because even though Buffy is trained, she can be territorial and I have NO CLUE how she's going to respond to baby. So time to train some more! I REFUSE to have to pick baby over her. They will co-exist happily, I'm determined. She's just too important!

Anyway, have an amazing birthday! HUGS!

    1. I was really anxious before the flight because I hadn't flown since 9/11. I had no idea about security or anything. I couldn't remember how big a carry-on should be. I mostly worried I wouldn't be able to pull up my ticket on my smarter-than-me phone. Turns out, it's actually pretty simple especially so early in the day.

I think as long as you give Buffy plenty of attention after baby comes home she should be pretty good. Right after the birth have hubby take one of the blankets that was used home for her to sniff and sleep with before you bring the little one home. I'm sure there are more things you can do, but off the top of my head that's all I can think of. Also, huge congrats to you!! I'm so happy! Time to start stock piling audiobooks to listen to, like I did with my kids. :)
