--- AVR News Update ---
Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front: This has been a busy event-filled week. We had the grandkiddos on Monday and then Tuesday was voting day, but hubby broke his crown Monday night. Luckily, he was able to get in to see the dentist Tues to get it fixed. Thanks to whoever cancelled their app't thus making room for his 2 hour visit. So we voted in the afternoon instead of morning like we usually do. We have a new President and even though I didn't vote for him (or her, I went 3rd party) he's still the CiC. I will be optimistic that he will do what's best for us and take comfort in the fact that he can't just come in and mess shit up. There's a process in place for a reason. And if our reps let him get too out of hand, well, in 2 years we, at least, can vote some asses out. So, take heart, and stay strong.

Thursday was the Marine Corps Birthday and Friday was Veterans Day. Hubby had to work on Thursday, but he was off Friday, so while we were out doing the foodstuffs shopping we went to Red Robin to get a free lunch for him. We wanted to go to Texas Roadhouse, but holy shit! That place was packed and a line out the door. So even though Red Robin was very busy, we got right in and served fairly quickly. Plus, he enjoyed his burger and I always enjoy the cod.

Last night the church down the road had their yearly All-U-Can-Eat BBQ. We look forward to it all year long. It's delicious and it's for a good cause, but most of all I don't have to cook or do dishes. Winner winner, BBQ dinner!

Touching Nature: While I've been busy in the house this week, the wind blew a lot of the leaves down and some of them even took off into the woods and places unknown. I wonder if they'll send postcards? Anyway, I will still need to saddle up my trusty sidekick, Leaf Blower, and commence Battle II of Leafageddon at some point this coming week.

Book News: After I finish my InD'tale books and reviews, hopefully today, I will be free to read whatever I want until the next batch is due. Which won't be until January 5th. Woot! It's my own fault for agreeing to review 5 books (I usually only do 2) when I have so much other stuff going on, but oh, well. I'll survive. I hope. I am seriously burnt out though. *sigh*

Don't Touch That Dial!: Managed a few NCIS, but other than that, nothing.

At the Flicks: Not yet

Cyberspace Playground: Nada

Randomness: This is dumb, yet it cracked me up. lol

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: Life's too short to be stuck in a crappy relationship. If you share a home and/or have kids together, make a plan and get the fuck out. If you're not at that stage yet forget making a plan and just break it off. Seriously. Your time on Earth is finite. It's bad enough politicians waste your money. Don't let anyone waste your time.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. You had a busy week! And the BBQ sounds fun. My church I attended growing up had a yearly ham and bean dinner that I always looked forward to.

Sounds like you need to slow down on review reading, take a break and read for fun.

I see I missed some reviews this week, will catch up later. I'm working on holiday books for the Ho Ho Ho Read-A-Thon for a few more days.

You can win Leafageddon, I know you can!!!!

  2. Great post this week. I've been reading so much about the elections and nice to see someone has a semblance of hope. And so many lovely books. I may have to grab a couple. Love the dinosaur moves. Poor guy. If only he had real arms. I wondered what those tiny ones were for. LOL

  3. You have been busy! I love Red Robin and I am glad they were giving free lunch to veterans. Tell him for me Thank you!

ALL YOU CAN EAT BBQ sounds awesome! I wish they had those around here. The church has a spaghetti dinner but no thanks. I only like my gravy (sauce, marinara, whatever you want to call it)
Good luck with the Leaves! We have a ton of them all over the streets but no trees in out yard so thats a good thing.

Have a great week, Carol! Happy Reading! oxox
I had to make this short because you keep messaging me and I can't do both! LOL

  7. I had to stop taking reviews copies from about 20 authors a month as the stress and deadlines were building around me! I still do the odd one but need to concentrate on Mount TBR for a while! I agree with you on your nuggets of wisdom...I had to endure years of a friend moaning about the deadbeat boyfriend, who she then married, and began moaning about the deadbeat husband, then had a kid with him and he became cheater deadbeat dad! ARRGGHH! Also agree with your common sense approach to the election. I'm seeing friends unfriend each other because of how one voted and I hate that. I don't ask my US blog pals how they voted as that's their business unless they want to talk about it, and their choice does not make any difference to me. It's a shame that others on both sides are still name calling against everyone who voted the other way.
