AVR News Update
Hello and Happy Sunday!
Ok! Who is responsible for driving September away?! Huh?! Speak up!
On the Home Front: It starting raining Thursday evening and hasn't stopped. Yes, we need it, so I'm not going to bitch about it. Especially since it has not affected me leaving the windows open. I'm going to love the next electric bill. Oh, yes I am! I made refrigerator pickles and pickled jalapeños. Hubby and Anna said the jalapeños are yummy. The pickles have another day in the fridge then we'll give them a try. Yesterday I made cookies, brookies, banana bread and lasagna. I figured since I was going to crank up the oven for lasagna I might as well make some nommies.
Touching Nature: See above.
Book News: Last Sunday we went to the Friends of the Library Book Sale since it was Bag Day. We came home with quite the haul. The bags were actually much fuller. We had already seperated Jessica's books out.
Don't Touch That Dial!: We've made some progress on Buffy and Angel. Nearly done with Seasons 5/2. I really don't want to watch Buffy Ep:16 The Body, but hubby is going to make me. Must have box of tissues handy.
At the Flicks: Nada
Cyberspace Playground: Twilight fans be warned. This is not a favorable review, but one I found accurate and also hilarious. Sorry. I just can't stand Twilight and the various spawn. I also happen to love The Passion of the Nerd. He's so insightful and that voice!
Randomness: For Supernatural fans...

103 total books ~ $40 ($10 was Jessica's)
53 hardcover, 28 soft plus Jessica's books~ 5 hard, 17 soft (not pictured)
I'm still 30 books behind in the Goodreads Challenge, but I'm not worried. Yet. I had more acquisitions to read and they don't count toward my goal, but I do get paid for them. So, win. Also, I had extra books for InD'tale Magazine to do that will count once the mag publishes. Another win. Now, if I can just get the rest of my October blog posts done and work on NetGalley November, I'll be set.

And this. Sometimes these aren't as funny as you'd expect, but this one is really good! And funny!
Randomness: For Supernatural fans...
And this, courtesy of my eldest putting it on my Facebook wall. LOL

Omg I need to find myself the closest library for one of those bag hauls, major book jealousy here ;) I love the bad lip reading videos, they're so hilarious! Also, you've been quite the domestic goddess in the kitchen this week! Thanks for sharing :) I hope you have a great weekend!

One county always has this great sale and the other county...not so great. We got lucky for sure! :)
DeleteHoly cow, that is a lot of cooking and a lot of books! I am impressed. Also, could you adopt? :P
ReplyDeleteIf you help with the cooking then I have no hesitation in adopting you. :D
DeleteYou got so many great looking titles this week. I love cooking when I can find the time for it. I hope you love all your new books.
ReplyDeleteGrace @ Books of Love
Adding to the huge collection is always nice. lol
DeleteI know, right? Where the hell did September go? Haha yup, since the oven is on, might as well make a bunch of goodies. That's one of the main rules of bakers club. lol
ReplyDeleteI don't know but we should hunt down the party(ies) responsible. lol
DeleteExactly. If I must have the oven on then I need to make it worth my while. :D
WOW, that is a load of books...great haul! :) Thanks for stopping by my blog.
ReplyDeleteJust need to find room for them now. lol
DeleteThe bag haul is fantastic! So many pretty books. You've been doing some serious baking. I've been really wanting to do some bread baking. The pickled jalapenos sound delicious. There's a Vietnamese sandwich place here that I go to all the time and they use pickled jalapenos on their sandwiches and it's fabulous. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteWe always come out winners on bag day. LOL
DeleteThat is an amazing book haul! I have to find out if we have these sales in our area. I hope you enjoy all your new books and have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen another library have such an awesome sale as this one. The one in the county over is never as good.
DeleteOh my gosh that book haul. That is epic. Are you going to list/show all the books in a seperate post? I'd love to see that. Also, cute white kitty. Lasagna is so yummy.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
That would be a great idea, but I've packed them away for now. Until we can finish our Exterior Library. I just don't have the room for them in the house.
DeleteMy library never has sales, just a shelf with a few tatty old books on it which are usually crappy anyway. That haul is amazing!
ReplyDeleteI wish more libraries had sales like this one. Maybe it's because it's run by the Friends of the Library and they have a large membership. Who knows?
DeleteWow. 103 books. That is a massive haul. I wish there was a sale like that around here.
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
It would be nice, huh? :)
DeleteYum! Banana Bread! I hope the pickles turn out delicious :D I want to learn to pickle! I make jelly and thats about it. Oh and I bake. Lots of baking. :D AND HOLY MOLY THOSE BOOKS! *drools* I need to make it to our friends of the library sell soon, too.
ReplyDeleteI cut the sugar in half for the pickle recipe and I stil think they're a bit sweet though my daughter and hubby think they're yummy. I need to make jelly. One fo these days I'll get organized enough. lol
Deletewow thats a big haul
ReplyDeleteYep. Sure is. :D
