AVR News Update
Hello and Happy Sunday!

Here we are again in yet another month of 2014. I swear the time flies faster and faster. Three weeks left until school starts. Summer break is packing up and preparing to leave the building. *sigh*

I have been a busy little bee getting reviews written (at one time I had 18 to do) and posts drafted, not to mention getting my Review Excel spreadsheet mostly up to date. I'm really liking my Google calendar with all its lovely peach days. Peach, for me, means the post is ready to rock and roll. Still have a few red (means I need to write the review), but I should have those five done today. A few more books to read for August and that'll be all she (or me) wrote. My mind is boggled that I have so much done. For once. :D

In other news...hmmm, not much. The tomato plants have tons of tomatoes. All green. And they've been green for like *forever*! I have a feeling they are all going to ripen at the same time and it will be chaos. We'll survive as long as it's not this...

If you don't see me posting daily, send help. Tell them to bring a food processor and canning equipment.

Finally, I have a need to bake something today. I have a Mississippi Pot Roast in the Crock-Pot, so I won't need to prepare hardly anything for supper. I have bananas ready to use, but I'm a bit tired of banana bread. I think I'll try a recipe I spied for banana-pineapple muffins. And I have a box of puff pastry and a king-size Hershey bar for making chocolate pastries. I can rummage around in the cupboard for a cake mix and I know I have a brownie mix. If I'm going to have the oven on for the muffins I might as well be productive, right? Besides the boys like the brownies and cake better than the pastries or any muffins.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. Nice haul this week, you have some interesting books there that I will have to check out myself.
Hope you have more "peachy days" ready to post very soon.

    1. My haul is always so diverse that I wonder if people think I'm weird. lol

I didn't get any reviews written today, mostly because I'm tired and my brain doesn't want to work. lol I'll get them done this week though. No problem. Thanks! :)

  2. This year is going WAY to fast, I feel like just when I get settled into a month it's already the next month Lol.
I do the same thing..If the oven is going to be on better to be productive and create something amazing then just making one thing and leaving it at that :)

I will keep my eye out before I send in re-enforcement to save you from the crazy tomatoes. If they don't turn out to be killers I hope you enjoy them all :)

Have a great week Carol and Happy Reading!!!

    1. I totally crapped out today. I didn't bake or write reviews. I did get some treadmill time in though, but I'm just tired. Tomorrow is a new day even if it is already August. Gah! lol

      Thanks and you, too!

  3. Wow, lots of enticing books to read! Enjoy....I remember the gardens I had back in the day, and how zucchini and tomato dishes were an every night affair.

    1. I really need to plant zucchini next year and see how it does. We're surrounded by trees and we just don't get enough sun for growing certain foodstuffs.

  4. Happy Baking Carol..I will trade you some ice cream cake for some pastries. Mhm K? I giggled about your peach Google calendar. I use the same method expect light blue skies means reviewed and posted. Red means tour do not change date and yellow means need to read & reviewed. Have a delightful week. The bridal shower will be the 24 of August so keep your shoes on ..August will be moving at warp speed!

    1. *grabs hold of desk with both hands when Kimba engages the Ludicrous Drive* Kimba! Nooooo!! lol

That trade would be lopsided since I did no baking today. Didn't write reviews either. Was just plain tired though I did get my hiney onto the treadmill at least. :)

  5. I will be prepared with my salsa making equipment. I do a lot of bruschetta and roasted tomatoes this time a year because tomatoes can be a vindictive little plant and are all about feast or famine! Good luck! Love your Google calendar system! I have an organizational system that works for me but it's out of date so I need to get on it. School for us starts this Tuesday for the bigger ones and next Monday for the little so I'm hoping I'll get some breathing space then. Have a great week!

    1. Bruschetta?! *swoons* That is our new favorite to eat. I just need to make it myself instead of getting it at a restaurant. Once I make it the first time then I'll feel better. lol

Kimba put me on to the Google calendar. I only glanced at it until she did a post about it. I'm sure there are other things that can be done with it, but I keep mine fairly simple. I have 5 colors I use and I can see at a glance what I need to do. It doesn't replace my Month-at-a-Glance because I like it, but it does help.

  6. Attack of the Killer Tomatoes... LOL! Looks like some pretty good reads this week... a couple of those look like good October reads even though that's a ways off yet... have a great week!

  7. ::snort:: My tomatoes are doing the same thing. I'm going to have a TON of them this week I think.

  8. Oooooh! Angelfall. I loved that book. I'd almost given up on angel books after two of the more popular series really didn't grab me, but I was glad I gave that one a shot! So good. I hope you enjoy it!

I am soooooo behind on reviews. Fortunately they're mostly books I own and have read and am under no actual obligation to review, so I don't feel too bad about it. :)

    1. Oh, yay! I had a hard time finding a KLL book that interested me. I hope I enjoy it, too. :)

Well, that's ok. Do those only if you want. :) I read 7 Anita Blake books recently simply because I wanted to revisit the series, but I haven't written those reviews. I may not ever write them considering how the series has degenerated. Ah, well.

  10. Oh man, I'm coming to your house for dinner! Yum.

Monster Porn Monday, I can hardly wait. Though, shouldn't that be the Anita Blake book? LOL

That cover for Simon, it looks like there's a wolf's head growing out of his back. D

    Enjoy!

  12. Monster Porn Monday!!! Yay!!! I'm ready :)

And can I come over and help can in exchange for some of those baked goods?

I grabbed the exact same two books from Curiosity Quills and I devoured How to Date Dead Guys. Like in 1 day. It was so good and not at all what I expected. Haven't read Guild Assassin yet, that's up in a few days :)

I didn't get the baking done, but by time you get here I should have some nommies. *winks*

I'm really looking forward to reading them. Hopefully in just a few weeks even though I want to crack them open right now. This instant. lol

  14. Our friend has her own garden and jarred 80 jars of tomato juice, and spaghetti sauce last week. I told her I am coming over to eat at her house. :) Banana bread sounds good, but I am the only one who eats it at my house. :( Enjoy the new books!

    1. I'm coming, too! Think she'd mind? LOL I make banana bread all the time. I really like it with raisins or chocolate chips, but Anna only likes it plain. I love to nuke a slice in the microwave for about 20 seconds. So good!

I hope to be reading Angelfall really soon, so I can turn it in and get my August KLL book.

      Thanks! :)

    1. I have one, too, but I tend to forget to add to it. Then I have to go back thru my emails and it's a pain. But I can't seem to get my brain to do it when the books come in. LOL

I have a tomato that's almost ripe! I hope it's not the start of an avalanche. :D

      Thanks!
