AVR News Update
The weather around these parts has been warm. Very weird. But we're supposed to get some nasty ice coming in around 4am Sunday morning (this is Saturday night), so we'll see how yucky it gets around here. Hopefully no power outages will happen. Those suck since we have well water. No power=no water. At least we have firewood for the fireplace and kerosene for the heater. I'll fill the bathtub up with water to flush the toilets, just in case. For those who don't know, if you dump a bucket of water in a toilet it will flush down even without power, so no marinating of excrement in the throne needs to be endured, which is ewwww.

I dropped the van off Monday to the body shop and picked up the rental. It was a Chrysler Sebring 200 and was nice but I didn't really like how it drove. Anyway, the rental went back Wednesday, but the van wasn't done so the body shop (which is a dealer) gave me a Honda Odyssey to drive. Oh. My. That was a nice van. When they called on Friday afternoon to tell me the van was being washed and I could pick it up around 4:00 I asked if they didn't need to keep it a few more days. You know, just to be extra sure it was dry and the window seal was set. No dice. *sigh* So I picked up the van and reluctantly turned over the Odyssey keys. Our van was so shiny! I haven't washed the thing for quite some time and it showed. lol It looks good and a big plus is they used our window glass so I only lost the big sticker that was on the hatch and not the ones on my window. Yay!

Starting Friday I will be doing a 12 Days of a Kensington Christmas where I feature a Kensington book for the 12 days leading up to Christmas. I wish I had planned this a little better and had more waiting to be posted. As it is I have 2 down, 10 to go. I better get crackin'! Yeah, yeah, I know I'm supposed to be on a Blogging Vacation, but I just can't help myself. LOL

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. I saw Red Rising on NetGalley. I'm interested in it, but I'm TRYING to put myself on a NetGalley ban for a while until I can get caught up. Hope you enjoy all of your new books!

  2. Looks like some pretty good acquisitions there. Glad to hear the van saga is over, isn't it tough giving a vehicle back when you really like it? :) Hopefully you guys avoid the worst of the bad weather.

I read your Saturday Shorts post and was kinda intrigued by the Dresden files one. I keep hearing about this series I may have to look into it further, everyone seems to really love it.

    1. I certainly hope the saga is over. *fingers crossed* So far so good on the weather front. Just rain, though it is hovering near freezing.

I happen to love the Dresden Files. I even read the graphic novels and watched the show. Not everyone loves it as much as me, but that's ok. :)

    1. My 13yo son is going to read The Beggar King and then I'm going to fit it in. If he likes it I may use his review. He's so picky about books and I'm not sure if this one will appeal. At least he's going to give it a try. :)

  15. Ugh we've had warm and rainy weather recently too...sucks. I hate living GA during the winter, because it can't decide if it's going to be winter or just gross all the time. You definitely picked up a lot of books to read this week, so I hope you enjoy them all!

  16. I hope y'all stay safe during the ice storm. It isn't going to come close enough to us here, we are going to tons of rain, but snow on Tuesday. We live out in the country, so we have a well too and gas for heat. No electricity means no heat. Enjoy the new books.
