Hello and Happy Sunday!
On the Home Front
Sunday ~ Holy shit. I'll begin this post with a little Saturday update by saying we watched the Hurricanes Game 3 of the Stanley Cup last night. Well, we watched the 1st 2 periods where the Knights scored twice on us, but had them taken away due to penalties. Then they scored 4 more times. Those stuck. By the end of the 2nd, Trip couldn't watch any more (he's schizoaffective and knows what triggers he needs to avoid), so we turned it off when we were down 0-4. He went back to watching Harry Potter and following a streamer on his computer. Comforting things to him. Then someone in the stream asked him about the insane Hurricanes 3rd period, so he went to look. Omfg. They came roaring out in the 3rd scoring 3 times in 39 seconds! A Stanley Cup record. Then, with only a 1:42 left, Svechnikov tied it up at 4 sending them into OT. No score in OT, so they go to OT2 where the Knights got lucky. Ugh. We lose 4-5 in double OT. Wow. How insane was that?!
So, Sunday. I did a few things on the computer then scrubbed my kitchen sink and put away all the 12 packs of pop I've been accumulating while they've been on sale. They go inside the kitchen bench (not on top where I've been dumping them) and I've just been too lazy to do it. Trip helped me put them away and clean up a mess we found inside due to two separate cases having 4 leaking cans of regular Pepsi (which Kyle and sometimes Anna drink - Trip drinks Zero Sugar). I emptied the cases, rinsed them off, he dried, and we put them in a plastic bin I dug up. He cleaned the inside of the bench for me and we finished tidying up. What a sticky mess! Anyway, I can sit on the bench again at my kitchen table. After that, Trip, Kyle, and I watched The Mandalorian Season 3. At a bit after 5:00pm we stopped so I could feed the furries and Trip walk the dogs. I started dinner of chicken and dumplings. While I was at it I dumped the last of the frozen chicken breasts into the Instant Pot for the dogs. While the chicken was boiling on the stove we started the last 2 episodes, stopping long enough to make the dumplings then finishing up while we ate. Whew! We're up to speed and ready to see the movie this coming Sunday. Before bed I shredded the Instant Pot chicken and put the containers in the freezer. The dogs are set for another month of nomnom chicken.
Monday ~ Anna & Kyle on OT all week. Worked on computer stuff and other misc things in the house. Tidied up my closet, bedroom, and office a little bit. Still have a ways to go, but at least it's a bit better. I finally put away the Easter decorations. lmao Too hot out to do anything and it's going to get hotter as the week goes on. Picked Kyle up at work since Anna had an app't. Leftovers for dinner.
Tuesday ~ Trip and I did errands. Went to CVS and Food Lion first and dropped that off at home. Put away perishables then went to the bank, got haircuts, dropped some stuff off at the Hospice Thrift store then did a little shopping there followed by TSC, Kohl's, and BJ's. Put stuff away then picked up Kyle at work since Anna had another app't. Leftovers for dinner. Game 4 of the Stanley Cup in Vegas. Hurricanes win to tie the series 2-2.
Picked this up at Hospice Thrift Store for $5.
If I tidy my kitchen island I'll take a pic of what I'm going to do with it.
I finally got an undercut. It is SO much cooler!
When my hair is down you can't even tell.
Wednesday ~ I went out to do some shopping on my own since Trip's birthday is Monday. Stopped at CVS and got cards for the rest of the year. Then later realized I forgot the eldest spawn. Dammit! I was checking them off in my head (April, Trip, Noah, Lori, George, Amy, Timothy, Anna, Kyle) and I know I said his several times, but then I forgot to get one. Fuuuuuck! I think it's because I saw one for Kyle and didn't go back. I have until next month, but still. I'm so irritated with myself. Then went to Academy Sports, car wash, Krispy Kreme, and Michael's. Picked Kyle up at work since Anna wanted to go to Chris's after work. Donuts for dinner. 97º today.
Thursday ~ Trip and I went out for a few more errands. I'm tired of errands. lol And it's fucking hot, hot, hot. Stopped at CVS to pick up Artemis's eye drops. Trip needed to get a present for Lori and one for Noah and we'd exhausted other places to get them, so we resigned ourselves to evil Walmart. Then I swung back by Kohl's for a few more jammies like the ones I picked up for myself on Tuesday. I haven't had new jammies in fucking forever. And these are super soft as well as tank tops (with shorts) so they should be cooler for me. Then I hit up Michael's again because I forgot yesterday to bring my mom's tapestry to get framed. Only to find out the lady who does the framing was out. Gah! She should be back Saturday. Not sure I'll go since Saturdays are horrible, but maybe. Picked up Kyle at Anna's therapy place. She went to Chris's after. I made 2 quiches for dinner: ham and spam. 99º today. Game 5 of the Stanley Cup in Raleigh. Hurricanes beat the Knights! We're up 3-2 in the series. Back to Vegas on Sunday for Game 6.
Friday ~ Puttered around on the internet, fed and watered critters and flowers (came in soaked in sweat), did laundry, took a shower, folded clothes, watched Murdoch Mysteries, updated this post. Leftovers for dinner. 99º today. When will we get rain?!
Saturday ~ Got up after 9. I really do not want to do anything today. However, after walking the dogs I got started on the cleaning. It is hot out. The dogs were panting like they'd run a 10K even though our walk was not strenuous. Did my bathroom then Trip and I did the laundry room and litterboxes. Used my little pressure washer to spray off the deck table and chair cushions to get the bird shit off. The umbrella I ordered came this morning so I put it out. I didn't realize it will need a base even though it goes through 2 holes in the table. As long as I keep it closed if it gets windy it'll be ok until I can get one. I vacuumed the hall rug then took it up, swept, mopped, and put a new rug down. I did dishes, shredded parmesan, ate lunch, put away pet food, and did laundry. There's still a bit of quiche left so had that for dinner.
I would have liked a brown or green umbrella instead of tan,
but that wasn't an option on the cheapie I bought. lol
Today I want to sweep and mop the entry and kitchen and put down clean rugs. We're also going to see The Mandalorian and Grogu. I'll probably make spaghetti for dinner. I'd like to scrub the deck now that I have extra vinegar and baking soda, but I'll wait until Monday or Tuesday. We'll watch Game 6 of the Stanley Cup.
New Year's Resolutions/Goals
I thought I'd keep a weekly record of these so I can see if anything is getting done. 😆

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: When filling your car's gas tank (if you have the money to do that) once the handle clicks off, do not try to top it off. Cars have something called an EVAP system with a charcoal canister. Topping off can get liquid in your charcoal and that's a potentially expensive problem. So, just don't. And don't be that person who says, "But I've done this for 100 years and never had a problem!" Because, like getting pregnant, it only takes once. Do you like playing Russian Roulette with your car in this ungodly expensive economy? Because I don't.
That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.
