Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front

Sunday ~ Went to bed late, but the dogs also went to bed late, so getting up later didn't make me feel guilty. Did the usual morning furry routine, puttered around the internet for a bit then went to Food Lion for oranges and whipped cream which I forgot on Friday. Also picked up some things we didn't really need, like cookies. Never shop hungry. lol In no particular order I got some things checked off my long long list: fed the critters and gave them fresh water, put away the Chewy order (birdseed, not stuff for the furries this autoship), fixed 2 feeders that had broken cables so they are serviceable again, put out my new solar lights, watered my plants, broke down the boxes on the front porch since this week is recyclable week, I saved one of those boxes and put Irene's photo albums & misc things to send to her brother in Texas, cut up 2 containers of strawberries, folded some pet stuff, caught a bee in my bathroom and released it in the wild (this was not on my long long list), restocked dog treat containers, restocked Anna & Kyle's work snack center (a repurposed breadbox), and cut up baby red potatoes & carrots and seasoned a whole chicken to cook in the Dutch oven for dinner.

Monday ~ Did not have to take Kyle to work. Yay! Did some blog and other related work on the internet. Filed the wasband's taxes. Emptied the trash and recycling so Trip can take the cans up the drive with the Kubota. Did laundry. Leftovers for dinner.

Tuesday ~ After the morning routine, did some stuff on the computer then got Trip up. We took the Wayfair boxed return of the patio table to Goin' Postal to drop off (Trip carried in since it was heavy) then drove into Burlington to BJ's to gas up the Pilot. We wanted to hit Five Below for some charging cords and a few other things, but they were closed for inventory. WTF. So we consoled ourselves with some Freddy's fries. When we got home I decided to cut down the smallish tree by the critter feeding area. It was only about 8" in diameter, so the battery chainsaw had no issues with it. I was a bit worried the top might hit the corner of the house, so I had Trip ready to give it a push the other way. However, where I was cutting, it ending up splitting straight up the trunk and it fell in super slo-mo, so we had plenty of time to guide it. Success! We cut off all the limbs and dragged them off to the woods then I cut up the trunk. I had Trip bring the Kubota over, loaded up the bucket, and had him dump the wood over by the other wood we saved from the huge brush pile. I'll eventually plant some fruit trees in the area. I'd like apple and pear, but need to do some research first. It was HOT out by then and we were dying, so I declared us done for the day. lol After cooling off I packed up Irene's Hummels in bubble wrap to go with the photo albums already in the box to send to her brother in Texas. The metal guys dropped off the siding and trim for the equipment shed, but no roof material yet. Still waiting on the green. Since it was only about 3:30 I decided to drop the box off at Goin' Postal. Trip rode along again since it was kinda heavy. Had the lady throw some packing peanuts in to fill out the box and we taped it up. Off it goes. Got home just as Anna and Kyle were parking the car, home from work. Chris came over after work, too. I made spaghetti with sausage and garlic bread for dinner. Anna left to spend the night at Chris's but checked with me first since I'd have to take Kyle to work in the morning. I was planning on getting up early anyway to work outside before it got to Lava Temps, so I gave the ok. Fell asleep in my chair watching Bones.

Wednesday ~ Up at 5:30 to take Kyle to work. Stopped at BJ's on the way home to gas up his car. Did some blog stuff while drinking tea then got going with the morning routine around 8am. Trip and I headed outside to work. I had him dig out around my flower box out front then wipe them down and paint the bare wood with the stain. Then I had him take the pressure washer to the patio chairs. I worked on the pavers at the door under the living room addition, then the pavers at the bottom of the deck steps, and finally started at the door to under Anna's addition. Didn't quite get that one finished before the sun was beating down on it, so I stopped. Hot, hot, hot! Trip and I moved all the stuff on the left side (as you look at it) of the porch so I can give it a second coat, but didn't get it pressure washed. Fed the critters. Went back to working on the entrance to under Anna's addition then Anna texted to remind me that I was picking Kyle up from work. Fuuuuuuck! I reached a stopping point then went in the house to cool off a bit before heading out to get him. It was his shower day so I let him shower while I dug up some dirt with the Kubota to dump by Anna's door. Then I painted the patio chairs only to find out I severely underestimated how much it would take. Two was definitely not enough. Once that was done I decided it was time to shower. Ahhhhhh! After being so sweaty, gritty, overheated, and gross all day, a nice cool shower followed by lotion, jammies, and Lazy-Boy is way better than sex. I said what I said.  ๐Ÿ˜‚ Leftovers for dinner.

Thursday ~ Up at 7:00. Folded my clothes I washed the other day and my bed stuff. After the usual morning routine the guys came to start on the metal siding and roof. The green material came in (Yay!) so Fogleman dropped their truck and trailer off with it. Went to CVS to pick up Artemis's eye drops, stopped at Goin' Postal to mail the little fishing pole to a Hummel boy figurine to Irene's brother because I fucking forgot to put it in the damn box, then went to ACE Hardware to see if they had the paint I needed to finish the patio chairs. They did not. But I got some wasp spray and some dianthus that was on sale. A color called strawberry parfait. So pretty! Planted my flowers in the flower boxes, watered all the flowers, and cleaned the bird baths then I pressure washed the left side of the porch so I can give the floor a second coat of stain. Tossed some dirt around Anna's door because of how it slopes. I need to bring a few more cement blocks over from the stack, but didn't have the Kubota key with me. I didn't want to get too sweaty because I needed to go to the new dermatologist at 1:15. She checked my rosacea, sent in a new prescription because I was almost out, checked a burn I got Sunday (which she accurately guessed was from reaching into the oven!-she must see that a lot), checked a mole I've had on my leg since I was born (I wasn't worried about it, but Anna wanted me to have it checked-like I said, I've had it my whole life). and she checked my back. Got chastised for the sunburn on my neck which I admitted was a miscalculation on my part. All good though. No worries. Go back in a year unless I need her. Anna had 2 appointments back-to-back so Kyle did not get his ice cream cone from Dairy Queen. I told him that I would pick up DQ food after I dropped Trip off at Kyleigh's soccer game at 6:30. So I did, but stopped at Lowe's first for 3 more cans of spray paint. Then the food at DQ took forever. Anna went to the game late (her virtual app't ended at 7pm), so she brought Trip home. I got home nearly at 8pm. That's usually when Kyle goes to bed. Ugh. Then they made the 4 double cheeseburgers for the boys wrong. Instead of plain they had ketchup and pickles on them. Which we had to clean off. I knew it would be fucked up. *sigh* Anyway, I also picked up an Oreo Blizzard cake with his points. lol Went to bed late-ish.

Friday ~ Up at 7:00. Did the morning furry routine then went out to finish spray painting the patio chairs. Ran out of paint. Again. Dammit! That's 5.5 cans so far for 4 chairs and I still need to turn 2 of them over to do the undersides. Guys here to finish the metal on the equipment shed. Gravel delivery came so Trip and I went to do errands and get groceries. Hit Harbor Freight for utility hooks for new shed (to hold the aluminum poles from the 3 canopies), Lowe's for more paint and utility hooks (some that would hold the heavy ass 8' fiberglass ladder and some for the aluminum extension ladder), Five Below for phone charging cords, cap gun ammo & a few other frivolities, BJ's for some groceries then had lunch at San Marcos. I told ya we'd go back there. Delicious! Came home and unloaded. I put away the perishables, but everything else is just sitting on the counters. One patio chair looked completely done so I had Trip carry it to the back deck. I touched up the other one then flipped the other 2 over to do the backs/underside. The guys finished up the shed and left so I went out and started dumping loads of gravel in it with the Kubota. Except we'll need to walk around and pick up all the small trash pieces before we spread it around. ๐Ÿ™„ One of the patio chairs looked pretty good so I had Kyle carry it to the back deck, but the other 2 showed some areas that needed a bit more. I did that and they are drying. Came inside to work on this post before I forget everything I've done since Tuesday. lol Fed furries. Picked up trash around shed with my grabber and an old Easter bucket. Had Kyle carry the last 2 chairs to back deck. Stained left side of front porch. Thank goodness for the porch lights. I had to turn them on since I finished around 8:30. Finished my audiobook. Had a snack bag of Lays and a sleeve of Thin Mints for dinner while relaxing in my Lazy-Boy watching Bones. TIRED. Anna spent the night at Chris's.

Saturday ~  Up at 8:00. Did the morning stuff, woke Trip up because he was going to Kyleigh and Oliver's soccer games. I wasn't sure if Anna would be back to take him, but she and Chris picked him up about 8:50 leaving me free to get started on the gravel for the shed. Kyle ran the Kubota and I ran the shovel and rake. lol I lost track of how many loads he brought me. At least a dozen. I filled in all the post holes, got it all around the inside and outside walls and filled out a bit more in front. Trip got home in time to help with that last bit. I also had Kyle carry me and my trusty rake to the top of the drive with a load and told him to bring me one more. Hopefully, that will keep the water from running from the road down the drive. Anyway, it started getting hot and, it turns out, throwing gravel and raking it is very tiring. Who knew? lmao I took a long break then started on the laundry room cleaning. It was Kyle's turn for litter boxes, but halfway through Timothy, Summer and the grandkiddos (Lori 3 and Noah 1) came over to shoot their guns. So Trip mostly watched the kids while they did that so Kyle and I could finish. Then we entertained the kids until Timothy and Summer were done having fun. After they left I cleaned my bathroom. Since Kyle was grilling a fuckton of hot dogs (one of those giant Nathan's packs lol) and some brats I ran to Food Lion for more buns and picked up Trip's Rx at the CVS drive thru before coming home to shower. Just as I finished the food was ready. Yay! I meant to eat and watch 1 episode of Bones then work on this post, but I'm here to tell you my peeps, I was slap worn out. I fell asleep in my chair and woke up at 10:00pm when Chris brought Anna back to get some clothes for another night at his place. After Anna took the dogs out I went to bed.

Today Since I'm late with this post, I'll say that I got up late-ish, around 8:30. Kyle was just finishing showering in my bathroom, so I got the morning going. After walking the dogs I filled out the rest of this post. I plan to feed my critters with Trip's help then make us some sausage gravy biscuits. After that, it depends on if it rains or not. It looks like it wants to and we need it super bad. If it passes us by then I'll finish working on the door area under Anna's addition. It's a very cool cloudy & breezy 53ยบ out. Ahhhhh! If it rains I may pressure wash the other side of the porch so I can stain it tomorrow. I may do that anyway so it has time to dry. There will be leftovers for dinner.

I have to figure out something to do with that slope on the left.

Not finished yet.

Time to move stuff in!

New Year's Resolutions/Goals
I thought I'd keep a weekly record of these so I can see if anything is getting done. ๐Ÿ˜†
More reading, less tv ~ Just an audiobook.
Go back to the beginning and revamp old blog posts ~ Nothing this week.
Exercise ~ Worked outside.
Tidy up outside ~ Yes. A lot. And it was very HOT!

Touching Nature:  Hot, hot, hot. We're under severe drought conditions. And there's a No Burn notice for the entire state. Which I'm going  to ignore next week to burn a brush pile in the woods. However, I will keep it low key (no giant Castaway or Pirates of the Caribbean type of fires) and will be right there. Hope we get rain Sunday.

Book News:  Nope. I got nothing to really report here.

Don't Touch That Dial!: Bones still. I'm thinking of cancelling everything except D-Stream. In fact, I probably will. I'd cancel that, too except Trip needs it.

At the Flicks: Nope.

Cyberspace Playground: Wordle, Word Lots, Crossword Jam, Solitaire, the Finch app - if anyone wants to be friends just let me know.

Randomness:

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: If at first you don't succeed, try again. And again. I don't know anyone who became an expert on the first try. If you keep trying and "failing" it's ok to take a break and try something else. Just be sure to revisit whatever it is you're trying. Unless you're just like, ugh this is not what I thought it would be like and it's just not for me.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.
