Hello and Happy Sunday!
On the Home Front
Sunday ~ Didn't do much. Just some laundry, did a bit of reading, took a nap.
Monday ~ Went grocery shopping. Hit Dollar General, Harbor Freight, BJ's, Waffle House (for breakfast lol), and Food Lion.
Tuesday ~ The chair we bought for Anna had been sitting near the kitchen since we bought it, so we finally moved my chair out of her room and put her chair in its spot. Looks good! Anna and I went to Lowe's so I could buy a portable work bench that was on sale and we got a cedar plank to make a birdhouse. Then we stopped at Biggby for a drink and then hit Food Lion again because I forgot a few things. Because of course I did. lol Anna went to therapy then stopped at Food Lion yet again because I forgot turkey lunch meat. For fucks sake. lol
Wednesday ~ Raul and his uncle came to give the mantel a clear coat and touch up the wall around it. It looks so awesome! The porta potty was picked up. The little things from Phase I are getting done. Anna and I mounted her tv to her wall. I also wanted to get her winter things hung in the closet but that didn't get done. We'll get to it. She really wanted her tv done so the important thing got crossed off the list. lol
Thursday ~ The contractor came to touch up some mortar that fell off with all the heavy banging during mantel installation. It is complete! We can start decorating now that we don't have to worry about moving stuff out of the way. It's nice that we can decorate something in the new addition. Everything else has to be squished together and stacked in prep for Phase II. That leaves the only outstanding thing from Phase I, the ceiling panels that need replaced on the porch and the back deck where the holes for the can lights were cut a little too big. Kyle had a doctor appointment so I picked him up at 2:00 and after he was done we decided to all go to Texas Roadhouse for dinner and use up his gift cards. I had tried at one time to use them with an online order and kept getting an error, so now those are off my desk at least. After we got home I fed the furries and then Anna and I hit Dollar General and CVS for some things to make a care package for Kyleigh who just got her first period. She's 11. So glad I don't get that anymore. lol Then we hit Food Lion (again!) to see if the rib eye on sale was in stock. It was.
Friday ~ Not as hot as it's been and cloudy. Worked outside and while I didn't get done what I really wanted to get done, I did get some things done. lol I wanted to smooth out the area between the house and the ramp so I could put down the extra flagstones and sand before building outdoor shelves. It's something I saw on Facebook, using some of my milled white oak and leftover brick, blocks, etc. Then we can put mom's outdoor critters, cool rocks, plants, etc. on the shelves. On the bottom, Anna wants to build a Toad Abode. Anna and I didn't get to that at all. Instead we pulled weeds in the raised bed out front, washed birdbaths, cleaned the pavers that has the hose out front (they completely got covered with dirt when it rained super hard a few weeks ago), hung my hooks and new hoses out back, replaced the hose out front, and the gravel guy called saying he could bring my gravel. So, I sent Anna to pick up Kyle from work while I waited for him to bring the first 16 ton of crush and run. When he dumped that and went to get the second load, I hopped on the Kubota and smoothed out what I could then grabbed Trip to help rake. The 2nd load was dumped in 3 spots. 32 ton didn't cover as much as I had hoped, but when Phase II is complete I'll see about getting regular gravel. That will spread father. Crush and run is meant to fill in potholes and such and I needed that this go round. I used the Kubota to spread one pile into smaller piles that we raked, but mostly left the other 2 piles because I was just so done for the day. I wanted a shower and to warm up my Texas Roadhouse leftovers and just chill. Besides it was cooling down (finally!) and looked like a storm was rolling in. While Anna and I were outside, Trip went through the DVD boxes and put the ones we watch the most in the cool storage trunk I got about a month ago. That leaves quite a few still in boxes. Not sure yet where we'll store those. That's a Later problem. lol
Saturday ~ Kyle didn't have to work, so I got up at 8:30. That sounds like an extra good sleep in except I went to bed around 11:30. lol It was still misty when walking the dogs in the morning. Around 10:30 Anna, Trip, and I left to go take Anna's car & tires for Timothy to mount on her car. Yay! That's done! We had breakfast at Pano's while we waited. On the way home we hit Harbor Freight yet again. They drop new coupons, and I have to go and pick stuff up. Glad I bought that year's membership since I have to stock up on my own tools. I think I'm good on regular tools now. I just need some power tools like a circular saw, jigsaw, sander, and maybe a band saw. They have the ones that are battery operated and I'm waiting for them to go on sale. There's also a pressure washer type tool that's stronger than a hose, but not as strong as an actual pressure washer and I want that. lol I do have a pressure washer, but I think this tool will work in most of the cases where I drag the washer out. I'm not sure it will clean the siding as good, but just spraying off the decks or vehicles? I think it will work just fine. We stopped by Biggby for drinks (I might be obsessed with that stupid Mango Blood Orange Freeze) then hit Bojangles for food for Kyle since he didn't want to leave the house. I did the regular cleaning and the 1st weekend of the month cleaning. Fed the furries and then Kyle grilled us the rib eyes I bought Thursday. 10 steaks for 4 of us means leftovers tomorrow. Yay! While Kyle and I were doing the litterboxes we discovered a bird's nest on the back deck in the bucket he usually puts under the grill to catch any grease overflow (not on my new deck!). We put a bag in it for easy clean up so there wasn't any grease in it. Inside the nest are 4 little speckled eggs. Later, I went out to get my rugs off the rail and I scared the bird out of it's nest. It looked like a Carolina wren.
Today The plan for today is R&R - relaxation and reading. Though I may try to hang Anna's winter stuff in the morning. I really want those 2 boxes emptied. lol
Construction News ~ Talked with the contractor. Andy, the cabinet guy, has 3 jobs to do before mine, so we're looking at September. That's both a groaner and a relief. Groaning because we can't put furniture where I want it since I have to leave room to pack up the laundry room and kitchen and store in the new livingroom. I absolutely do not want another Pack Rat. It's a relief because that gives me time to sort, pack, and store stuff. So, we'll be unsettled for about 2 more months +/-.
Touching Nature: Hot 🔥and humid. Really tired of this shit. Friday evening a storm rolled through and the temps dropped like a free falling anvil. We went from the upper 90s to the 70s and it's wonderful!
Book News: Audiobooks and that's it.
Don't Touch That Dial!: I have 3 episodes left of CSI:NY, but I want to watch them in a row. Since I've been sitting down with not enough time to do that I switched back to Buffy.
At the Flicks: Nope
Cyberspace Playground: Wordle, Word Lots, Crossword Jam, Solitaire, jigsaw puzzles, the Finch app - is anyone wants to be friends just let me know.
Randomness: Not just the over 50 crowd! Anna was like this with me Friday watching the hummingbirds fighting over the feeders and she's only 27!

Another busy week for you. It's not all bad to have a break on renovation in August. I really enjoy the Elizabeth Hunter books. I'm loving the cooler weather but looks like next weekend it is back to the overn.
