Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front:  Ok, what the hell did I do this week? lol

Well, Kyle worked OT so I was up at 4am (M-S) to take him to work. I compared how I felt going back to bed when I got home around 5:15, to how I felt last week when I was up at 5:30 to take him to work and didn't go back to bed. I wasn't as tired each day this week, but it's all relative. I was still tired, just not AS tired. lol

I got home with Kyle on Tuesday and there was a sheriff's car in the drive and the officers were talking to Jess. We had to wait until they left so we could park. Turns out Jess's uncle in Wilmington died and they were contacting her on behalf of a detective there. They are investigating if his death at home was natural or foul play. So she had to pick up her mom and drive her to Wilmington Weds. They were staying until today when Jess has to work. Ellie stayed with us until her dad picked her up after school on Thursday. Apparently there was also some strange woman claiming to be his beneficiary even though no one in the family knew about her. I have not heard yet how all of that went down. I'm sure I'll get the story later today or in the morning.

Did grocery pick up Weds since Trip had an app't Thursday to get his autism assessment results. Turns out he has Level 1 Autism,  ADHD, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and Anxiety Disorder as well as SchizoAffective Disorder (with BiPolar tendencies) which we already knew about. We got a list of resources to help him, but we're both feeling a bit overwhelmed with everything going on that we'll check them out in the near future. Got an email from the contractor with the revised estimate for the HVAC which I approved. The whole house generator though was $14K+ and I said, yeah, no. I asked for an estimate to just get a transfer switch wired and I'll get a portable generator. I also asked for an estimate for a little "house" to cover it since I'll have a concrete pad installed for the new heat pump and the generator can live next to it since the electric meter is also being moved to that same area. lol

Friday I had an app't at the bank and got some things done then came home to do the cleaning.

Saturday, Anna and I got our hair cut, did a couple of shopping stops, and hit the car wash in her car before picking up Kyle from work. On Saturdays they only work until 11:00. When we were all home we cleared the rest of the stuff from the back deck and nearly all of the stuff off the front porch since the inspector should be out this week and after that, the contractors can get started. After we finished, Addison (tree guy) dropped off my milled white oak. It looks and smells wonderful! I need to call the place in Winston-Salem Monday to get the mantel piece kiln dried. For dinner Kyle treated us to Texas Roadhouse which I placed online and picked up.

Today I'll probably putter around. Maybe read, maybe write reviews, maybe both or neither. I'm tired, so I'll just play it by ear. I still need to draft up my post detailing the house renovations, so that could also come into play. I'm not going to watch the Super Bowl, but we are going to have Super Bowl type snacks.

Touching Nature: Got a bit of rain and the weather turned a tad chilly again. Not horribly so, but enough to warrant a jacket. Worked outside moving things out of the contractor's way.

Book News: Still nothing to report here. Every time I want to sit and write reviews a million other things come up. I'll get there eventually.

Don't Touch That Dial!:  Started season 6 of Lucifer then got stalled. Got tired of CSI (Vegas) and switched to CSI:NY because Hulu starts with season 6 of CSI:Miami. 😡

At the Flicks: Nope

Cyberspace Playground: Wordle, Word Lots, Crossword Jam, Solitaire, jigsaw puzzles, the Finch app - is anyone wants to be friends just let me know.

Randomness:  Which may or may not get done.

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: I read the other day that if you are in bed and having trouble sleeping, don't get frustrated or give up and get up. Just try to relax your body and close your eyes. Just laying there can help much more than getting up and doing things. This is not the first time I've seen this advice. Most people will eventually drift off into sleep. Even if you don't, it's still beneficial rest that your body needs. And that's nothing to sneeze at. I don't usually have trouble sleeping. I'm usually so tired I drop right off. But on those nights where my mind is racing with the 1001 things I'll need to do when I get up, I just get in a comfortable position and close my eyes. Eventually my mind calms and I sleep. I keep my room pitch dark, chilly with cozy blankets (but not too warm and cozy because I get too hot lol), and a fan running for white noise. I sleep better that way.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. Chirp has some great deals. I'm excited to hear about the renovations as they go. I have been tired since November 2024 and can't seem to shake it. Maybe when the weather improves for spring? It's not bad weather now but this week will have lots of rain (we need it) and nights around freezing.
