Hello and Happy Sunday!
On the Home Front: So, Christmas week. What a busy one! Last Sunday I got my new gaming computer set up with a hard drive and Windows 11 then shut it down because I don't really have a place to put it yet. Not until the interior renovations are done. I was going to finish wrapping presents but that didn't happen until Monday.
On Monday, Anna had to work half a day then the company took everyone out for lunch and Dirty Santa. Kyle took the day off. I finished wrapping presents.
Tuesday was Christmas Eve and I fiddled around online in the morning then in the afternoon made the sides for the honey-baked ham. We watched some Christmas movies, talked with family in Ohio, and the kids opened 1 of their presents. I put the rest of their presents around the tree and put their stockings out before going to bed. We had sooooo many presents under and around the tree this year what with Jess and Ellie living here and presents to the grandkids.
Wednesday. Christmas Day! I got up around 8:00 to feed the furries. Trip walked the dogs while I put together French Toast Bake to pop in the oven. While that baked we opened presents. I think everyone enjoyed what they got from me and each other. We didn't enjoy the rancid smell emanating from Mr. Puggles who, Trip informed us, rolled in something on their walk. So right after presents Anna took a shower and took him with her. I had to spot clean his harness. Gross. The wasband let me know he put some stuff in the mailbox for me so I had to go grab that. I especially like the slippers. They are warm but have an open weave so my feet don't get too hot which is why I rarely wear stuff on my feet in the house. However, when we use the fireplace the rest of the house gets chilly since the thermostat is right fucking there in the room with the fireplace. So, my office and bedroom gets cold. lol I put some of my new loot away and the boys informed me I needed to make my Steam account because they did theirs on Christmas Day in 2009. So, I did. I am now the proud owner of a Steam account, same name as my blog (AVoraciousReader) if you want to friend me. lol In addition, Kyle created this family account thing where he's the parent and we're (me, Anna, and Trip) his children. lmao The nice thing is we can each play the games that everyone in the family has. So, I have access to nearly 600 games in their libraries. 😲
Thursday I took Kyle to work at 4am, napped from about 5am to 8am, did the usual morning chores, met the wasband to give him a Christmas card and money for the mortgage which is still in his name for now, worked on the blog, picked Kyle up from work, took Sugarcube to the vet for bloodwork then relaxed in front of the tv for the rest of the evening.
Friday I took Kyle to work at 4am, napped, did the morning chores, then Trip and I did grocery pick up and filled the Pilot with gas. Put away groceries and worked on the blog until it was time to pick Kyle up from work. The vet called with the results from Sugarcube's bloodwork. She said they were beautiful. lol Her kidney values are a bit high so she can go on the same diet and supplement as Captain Kirk, but there was nothing overly concerning considering she's 13. After dropping Kyle at home Trip and I picked up the grandkiddos for a sleepover. They opened presents and seemed to love everything. Oliver especially loved his Spider Man tool box I got him, with real tools! Except the hammer which is wood. Every time he came over he would get the boys' old plastic tools out so I figured he'd enjoy it. I didn't anticipate how much he would love it. It's his favorite thing right now. lol Anna took the dogs out for before bed potty and Artemis ran off. It was raining and everyone went out into the woods looking for her, but no luck. I went to bed near midnight and she still hadn't returned.
Saturday I woke up to still no Artemis. We did things like put out her blanket and a dog bed she likes and Kyle grilled some bacon hoping the smell would lure her home. They went out searching again. Nothing. I made breakfast for everyone then around 2pm took the grandkiddos to their mawmaw's. Timothy, Summer, and their two, Lori (2) and Noah (6 months) came over for their presents. While here, Timothy fixed Anna's bumper which she messed up while looking for Artemis. Just before they left, Kyle went out searching for Artemis again and found her at the neighbors. So, she's home. She slept most of the evening and when it was time to go out for potty she was so stiff and moving slow. I guess her unexpected adventure was more strenuous than she was used to. Plus, she's 11 now and no spring chicken. I ordered pizza for dinner, so there will be leftovers tomorrow. Anna went over to April's and took her presents and a few things the grandkiddos left. I finished up this post then went to bed around 10.
Today I need to do the usual cleaning I didn't get done yesterday though I did do my bathroom on Friday. Then I'll probably just relax. It's been a busy week and I'm fucking exhausted. It's supposed to be rainy and dreary, so I'll probably fall asleep on the loveseat.
Touching Nature: It was cold then started warming up again. Rain on Friday and Saturday, but a bit chilly.
Book News: Um, I may have Stuffed my Kindle with 42 books. Oops.
Don't Touch That Dial!: Hulu started fucking up because I had an account for forever then signed up for Verizon's perks plan, so I ended up having to cancel my old Hulu account. Then I couldn't get logged in and it pissed me off. So I started watching Lucifer again on Netflix. Which wasn't fucking up with the Verizon plan. I have no idea what fucking Hulu's fucking problem is, but fuck it. They are the only channel that won't fucking cooperate and I had no patience for it this week. We also watched The Santa Clause, Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas, Polar Express, Santa Clause is Coming to Town, A Christmas Story, and Gremlins. Then the grandkids came over Friday evening for a sleepover and Boone watched Home Alone and How The Grinch Stole Christmas.
At the Flicks: Nope
Cyberspace Playground: Wordle, Word Lots, Crossword Jam, Solitaire, jigsaw puzzles, the Finch app - is anyone wants to be friends just let me know.
Randomness: Read in whatever way works best for you and let others do the same. Personally, I like all three vehicles.

Okay, so, here's the thing...I picked up 42 free ebooks on 12/26 through a Stuff Your Kindle event by Romance Bookworms and I really don't want to link them all.
I haven't even added them to my Goodreads shelves yet. lol
Ok, I know, I know. You're really curious as to what I picked up.
But I'm honestly too damn tired. Maybe next week.
Sounds like a really active family Christmas this year. Makes it special.
ReplyDeleteYou had a nice holiday but it is tiring. That 4am and I complain about 6:15 but I don't get to go back to sleep. Happy reading Carol!
