--- AVR News Update ---
Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front: I was the family Uber driver again this week. We continue to play Pokémon. The training of Artemis continues, slowly but surely. We did buy her a bigger crate, so she now has a spacious getaway for nights and when we are gone. Her other crate was big enough for her size, but we wanted to get the next size up. She seems to like it, so yay! We've also been researching enrichment for her. She's 5 yrs old and much more active  and easily bored than Taco or Snowy were and more so than 10-yr-old Vengeance is, though he does play with toys occasionally and loves when we throw sticks outside for him. I've also crossed some more things off my To Do List. Life is busy and I'm exhausted.

Touching Nature: Too much rain again, but at least it was fairly warm for a bit. Then it dropped below freezing and all that wetness froze. I'm beginning to miss those years of drought.

Book News: I finished 3 books and have the reviews to write. I better get on them because 2 are scheduled for this week. Oops.
In other news: I need a really good read to show up. My ratio is too far in the bottom of the ratings. But at least I continue to whittle away at my backlog.

Don't Touch That Dial!: We're caught up on NCIS on Netflix. And frankly, I have no desire to continue it after they add season 16. I'm done. We're going to pick up where we left off with Supernatural, so Season 11 here we come.

At the Flicks: Nope

Cyberspace Playground: Nope

Randomness:
Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: I saw a tweet where a book blogger was nervous because she was going to post a negative book review of a popular book that everyone loves. My advice was this: You have to be true to yourself. If you fudge on reviews then how do we trust your reviews? Not everyone is going to agree about everything. And that's ok.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. I will secretly tell you that some people's reviews I don't believe especially if it is an ARC review or something they got from the publisher. I feel like they do that to stay in good graces with the company. It might not be true but that's just my opinion.

I am glad Artemis is doing good, it will be slow for a while. Calliope peed on everything in this house for a month, made me switch litter boxes and would draw blood when you gave her a treat but she is much better now. Thank goodness lol

We have not been playing pokemon as much the last few weeks, I sort of got mad that the next event wasn't the new gen 4 pokemon. They sort of just forgot about them. They also seem a lot harder to catch lately. Not making it much fun, plus it's nipple cutting glass cold outside.

Have a great week, Carol! Happy Reading! xx

    1. I tell it like it is and I don't care what anyone thinks. lol Ok, I try not to hurt feelings, but I don't care where I got the book. You're going to get the truth about how I liked it. Or didn't. That's one of the main reasons I quit doing tours. Don't ask me to review a book then say I can't post my review on the tour unless it's a 3 or more. Uh, no. That's not how reviewing works.

She still has major cat aggression issues, but having a solid barrier up is better for her training and it gives me peace of mind. She's peed in the house 3x but I think it's because we haven't learned her signals. Snowy used to come nudge us with her nose and stare until we realized she wanted out. Vengeance doesn't signal us at all. He just goes when we take him. He's easy. lol

Pokémon is seriously pissing me off. We go out to get our spinnies for the day streak, but that's about it. We'll do a raid here and there, but meh to everything else. I finally got Meltan. Two months after the research was released. It's stupid. And I loathe the Alolan shit. Can we get something new FFS?!

Watch those nipples in that cold weather. Dangerous, they are. lol

  2. I agree you have to stay true to yourself when you post a review be it for ARC or not, popular book or not! happy Sunday. Sophie @bewareoftheredaer

    1. If you aren't honest about a review then all of your other reviews become suspect. No reviewer wants that.

  3. We love Pokemon in this house! We're all Pokemon Go aficionados and my husband and son have started with Pokemon Let's Go at Christmas... I haven't been sucked into that one yet though!

I agree with you on posting negative reviews. You've just got to be honest. It may be harder for some when a book is universally loved but each person is different.

    1. We're getting kinda tired of the same old crap on Pokémon. I hope they can come up with some new stuff soon. I mean, how long must we put up with the Alolan eggs? Ugggghhhhh! lol My 21, 19, & 18 year olds also have the Pokémon Nintendo DS, but want to get the Switch eventually. Hubby and I aren't interested. Yet, anyway. We just play on our phones.

  4. LOL, to the randomness photo. Love it. Awesome that you read 3 books. I have a bad habit of not writing them up when I am done. I have to do some posts and for this week and still haven't. Have a wonderful week.

  5. I hope the dog training is going well. I’ve read a lot of 2 and 3 star books this month, too. Hopefully that changes soon. I’m not afraid to be honest in book reviews, but it is disappointing to dislike a book that everyone else loves. I always wonder what I missed. Have a good week!

    1. It's going fairly well. Still lots of work to be done, but she answers to her name on a more consistent basis, so yay!

I wonder sometimes, too. But it is what it is. :)

  6. I say what I think but not without tact. If it is for a blog tour and I end up with a low rating, I tell the publisher / publicity. Sometimes I don't do the tour, but just post the review on Goodreads. I have done a review with comments about what didn't work for me and no rating a couple times also.

We are still having the 4-5 day shifts from 30s to 60s, but the cold spell was a bit shorter and it's supposed to be 70s next week!

I gave up on Stephanie Plum; they all seemed the same to me. I hope you enjoy it and are having a great week. Anne - Books of My Heart
