Hello and Happy Sunday!
On the Home Front: Last Sunday was Community Day for Pokémon GO and we all went. Hubby took the day off and Anna was done at her job in time to get some playing in. We had fun! Then, as we were heading home, strong storms rolled through and a tornado hit Greensboro. Not close enough to affect us, but close enough for us to go WTF. Our power was out, but only for about 2 hrs. We were very lucky. There are people still without power and not able to go home yet due to damage.
My new front doors were installed Friday afternoon. I LOVE them!! Which I better love them since they cost us $1700. Yep. You read that right. We had to have them custom-made. Who knew that having a home that was a doublewide we had built to modular specs would have odd-sized doors and windows? I can't even go to the store and buy off-the-rack blinds because our windows are odd-sized. So, when we replace the back doors we'll be paying out the ass again. But...I really do love them. And they appear to be SO much more energy efficient. Our old doors leaked cold air like you wouldn't believe. And we would get ice on the inside of the storm door when it was freezing or below. ICE! Guess I need to save up to replace the back doors before winter gets here.
In other news, I hope to get all the vehicles (4 of them) washed and vacuumed out today. I especially want to get the Pilot clean so I can finally put all my stickers on it. Then it will truly be mine, all mine. lol I just need to convince hubby to get the pressure washer out. It's a power tool. Shouldn't be too hard to convince him, right?
Finally, at some point this coming week, I really need to take Trip and Kyle to college and get them registered for Fall. Ughhhh. Kyle graduates high school in June and Anna will get her Associates in Science in May. She's not sure what she's doing next and that's fine. Trip took a year off while he (and we) are adjusting to his diagnosis of schizoaffective disorder and medicine routine, but we think he can handle some online classes.

Touching Nature: It has been so damn windy! WTF?! It got a bit chilly too. Then on Tues it got up in the 80s and I said fuck it and turned on the A/C for a day. But then I had to turn on the heat the next morning because we were nippling with temps dipping back down. I'm so sick of heat then A/C then open windows then heat again. Make up your damn mind, Ma Nature! FFS!
Book News: I had 7 reviews to write and I whittled that down to 3. Then I finished another book, so I have 4 to write. The endless cycle continues. *sigh*
Don't Touch That Dial!: Trip and I finished Jessica Jones season 2. Can I just say how much I loathe Trish? We have not started The Flash yet. Hubby and I continue to watch an episode here and there of CSI (the original).
At the Flicks: It opens next week! For those who don't know what I'm talking about...Avengers: Infinity War! I do not go to opening weekend movies no matter who much I want to see one. We'll probably go the first part of May.
Cyberspace Playground: Still nothing except Pokémon GO and Wordscapes. I'm so glad Wordscapes had an update. I was getting worried because I was down to my last 6 levels (which have 5 levels each). I now have plenty to keep me occupied, at least for the time being.
Randomness: I was gifted this lovely tea spoon from Plum Deluxe. I suggested the saying in a poll and it won. O.O I don't even want to use it. I want to display it. LOL
Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: When life gets you down, see above ^^.
That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

The door looks great! Our house has some strange measurement when it comes to our windows too. Make buying mini blinds a pain in the butt! Your kids sound like they are doing really good. I don’t have to worry bout college with our for a little while longer. Whew! Our oldest finished 2 years ago and teaches at one of local high schools now.
ReplyDeleteI just wanted smack Trish in the second season of Jessica Jones.
Hope you have a wonderful week.
Omfg, I'm so glad I'm not the only one who wanted to just beat her ass. Gah! lol
DeleteI am loving on that spoon. The town I was visiting last Friday was hit with a tornado, power was out, everything sounded scary. Luckily it only hit a stretch of unopened businesses, so little damage and no one was hurt.
ReplyDeleteGah, tornadoes are scary! Ours hit a neighborhood including an elementary school, really hard. Only one death occurred (a tree fell on a guy's car while he was in it) which is actually kind of a miracle considering. Tornadoes suck.
DeleteI love the spoon, excellent quote. Yay for new doors and it always seems things aren't the one size fits all for everyone. I hope you get your stickers on.
ReplyDeleteI did it! I got my stickers on. I need a few more though. lol
DeleteMy old doors and windows used to get ice inside them, too. I don’t miss that. The new door looks great. I love that spoon. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
There is something seriously wrong when you get ice anywhere *inside* your house. It sucks and I'm actually anxious to see how they do this winter. Gah! Looking forward to winter. Now that's just wrong. lol
DeleteSo scary about the Tornado - so glad it didn't get y'all. Not only would that be super scary, but could you imagine... after you just got that ridiculously expensive door?! That would so be the way of things! Love the door though and it looks great - sounds like it will be a big improvement.
ReplyDeleteGet those stickers on :) Make her yours! Yeah, getting out power tools shouldn't be too hard. LOL. Hope your week is off to a great start Carol. HUGS!
Thank the Chocolate Gods for insurance because that would be the first item on the list. lol
DeleteI got them on! I love them, but the right side needs two more. It's kinda unbalanced. lol Just need to decide what to put there. Hmmmm...
