--- AVR News Update ---
Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front: Thankfully, things at the high school have been resolved and have, for the most part, settled down. Trip's schedule was changed and now he gets out early every day. I pick him up at 2:00 and go back for Kyle at 4:00. *sigh*  At least with Anna driving she can help me with carpooling. Do you know I've been driving kids to & from school since 1998? When we lived in Ohio my oldest (who is 31 now) took the bus, but when we moved to NC I drove him. The year he got his license Anna started Kindergarten, so no relief there. lol Trip is 17 with no permit yet (hopefully he'll pass the computer test next week) and Kyle (16 next month) should be taking Driver's Ed in November. My 3 youngest are certainly slow to get behind the wheel. Here in NC they can take Driver's Ed as early as 15 1/2 and get a permit yet they all waited. Yeesh!

I've also had things I've been working on for InD'tale Magazine. I've been reviewing for them since Dec. of 2012, but I also handle their Goodreads account and this year I've taken over their Twitter account. Then, this month, I started doing the Book Bargains email flyer and the monthly newsletter. I only observed the Book Bargains earlier in the month, but I did the newsletter that came out Fri. I don't do very well with deadlines, but I got 'er done. Good thing I have blogging experience otherwise I would have been lost. Whew!

Touching Nature: Nada. We've had rain, humidity, coolness, heat, grey, sunny...hell, ol' Ma Nature has been all over the  place this week. But if the forecast is even close to accurate *snorts* we should be getting normal Fall weather for the foreseeable future. That's more than we got this Spring.

Book News: I haven't read much at all and I finally had to give in and lower my Goodreads yearly challenge from 250 to 200 when I was showing 35 books behind. At the rate I'm going I'll never catch up. So...poop. Also, I know I've been a shitty blogging friend, but I'm hoping things are getting mostly back to normal now. I keep saying that and things keep happening, but maybe this time it'll stick. I appreciate everyone who has visited and commented!

In other news, I managed to draft 18 posts, tweaked a few more, scheduled all of October, and lined up my docs for 8 reviews. Then yesterday I wrote 2 of those reviews, but then I finished 4 more books as I doubled up on the monster porn in order to get October's and December's posts done. Sorry, but there won't be a November post since I plan to review all NetGalley books for NetGalley November. I still need to read 14 books for that. Hopefully I'll make my goal.

Don't Touch That Dial!: Managed a few episodes of NCIS, but that's about it. We're now in Season 4 and Gibbs has a porn 'stache! WTF

At the Flicks: None yet.

Cyberspace Playground: The Hillywood Show ~ Sherlock Parody
But they have others. I especially loved the Supernatural one! :D

Randomness:

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: Don't procrastinate. Easier said than done. This I know well.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. I'm glad everything at school worked out but feel compelled to hate you because you've put the rest of us to shame by being so organised with your blogging and posting!

  2. I'd rather be a disoriented John Travolta then what I got!
WHAT NO MONSTER PORN IN NOVEMBER!!!! ;) You should have told me I could have guest posted for you. I just read a bunch but now I can't remember which ones and would have to read them again.

Kids! Why would they learn to drive when they can just have you do it. :) I hope my kids drive soon but it's illegal for an 8 and 11 year old. I guess I have to wait but I'm not happy about it. lol

The Haunting of Bechdel Mansion looks interesting, need to look that up.

Hope this week is a good one my friend! Happy Reading! ox

  3. Disoriented John Travolta?! Did you make that up *snorts* that's like the best one I've seen yet - and of course you got it! LMAO! It's so funny, you're ready for your kids to drive and were resisting letting ours. Franky is 16-has been since April. But here's the thing, he so immature! He thinks everything is a game or a joke. And I just worry that he'll hurt someone or himself as soon as he starts driving. But doesn't really matter what we say, his mom will decide and she won't ask us (I'm not bitter or anything...) as usual.

I'm going to miss monster Porn Monday :( I guess I just need to stop and read some of my own...

    Have a great week!

  4. Gads all that carpooling. You crack me up about the reviews you need to write. I had 2 to write and finished another book bringing it to 3 and I am all in a panic wanting to get them done today. When Sophia was born I changed my goal from 300 to 250..sometimes you just gotta go with it.

  5. I have three sons who are all over 16 and none of them drive yet! I am trying to get them to practice and get their licenses, but they seem happy to use the "Mom Taxi". I think there was a report that there are so many new restrictions on licenses for teens under 18 that most kids wait until 18 so they won't have to comply with all the red tape. Have a fun, and productive week.

  6. That was my reaction to Gibb's stash too. I've caught up a little bit with the Goodread's Reading Challenge, and I'm now coasting at 15-16 books behind instead of 18-19. Have a good week! :)

  7. My goodness you are organised! One day I will have posts to schedule... One day. :)

I wish I could get my reading figures up near 200 but I'll be lucky to crack 100 in a good year! I need to find more reading time in my life!

Love your post and it's great to connect on these weekly memes. Here's my Weekly Roundup

  8. I am glad things are getting settled back down at school. I would say I am surprised that your kids are waiting to get their license but I didn't get mine till I was 18 and my mom pretty much had to drag me kicking and screaming as I hate driving and I still hate it...lol.

Thank goodness Gibbs doesn't keep the mustache!! I hated when he had that thing...lol. Can you believe season 14 is on now! You all got a lot of catching up to do. :)

    Have a great week!

  9. I was ahead with my Goodreads goal at the start of summer, and somehow now I'm back at basically an even keel since school started. It has taken me two months to finish one book! This is terrible! I don't even know if I'm going to make 52 books this year.
