My Rating ~ 4 bites and a nibble

Social worker Megan Crunk is traveling back from a home check when she creams Garrett Terago on his motorcycle. But instead of being dead, he’s very much alive. A bit tattered, but Megan is hurt worse and she had a car and airbags protecting her. Garrett is a mystery to her that only deepens when she starts digging into the community where she did the home check. Are there such things as vampires? Surely not. But Megan is about to find out the world is not what she thought it to be and her association with Garrett combined with her curiosity has landed her in the middle of a supernatural war.

The beginning of this story is a little confusing as it jumps in time, but once it settles down it gallops off at a steady pace. The characters are well-developed and while the storyline falters a bit in places, it nonetheless held my interest hostage. I had to keep reading to see what would happen next. The heat between Megan and Garrett is off the charts, but I’m so afraid Megan is going to screw it up because Garrett is unable to express himself fully. He lacks creativity and it seems this lack bothers Megan. A lot. If she fucks things up because of that I will have to bitchslap her from one side of the country to the other. Seriously. Also, she says “’Kay” way too much. Stop it. Garrett is adorable. And hot. *drools a bit* Anyway, the author’s take on this world and the supernatural beings in it is a little different than I’ve read before and it’s quite interesting and refreshing. However, the ending is a bit of a cliffhanger. I hate cliffhangers. As cliffhangers go though, this isn’t horrible. I’m dancing around, wanting the next book really bad. Like, right this instant. Because I’m dying (not literally) to know what’s up with Megan and why Garrett is so important in the Big Bad’s scheme. Bring on Book 2!
