--- AVR News Update ---
Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front: Not much to report here. Boys had exams on Tues & Weds, but were off Mon, Thurs and Fri (holiday, teacher workday, teacher workday). I spent all of Weds and most of Thurs preparing for the snow storm.

Touching Nature: Snow, sleet and more sleet. But thankfully no freezing rain so no power outage and the temps are supposed to warm up to 50º by Tues. Someone get Ma Nature laid or something because she is in definite need.

Book News: I'm not doing too bad on the reading and reviewing front. I do have 5 reviews to write, but I've also nearly got February all set up and good to go. Michelle over at Limabean Designs has finished all my memes and I can't wait to show them off! They so shiny!

Don't Touch That Dial!: Trip, hubby & I had a massive Supernatural marathon and hubby & I managed a some episodes of Angel. Other than that I got nuffin.

At the Flicks: Nope, Not yet.

Cyberspace Playground: For Harry Potter fans everywhere.

  1. That's funny, I imagine a Tauntaun might be kinda useful for those on the East coast. Hope it's not too bad where you are- sleet's no fun. We got lucky it went south of us so no problems here, other than cold. Have a good weekend and stay warm!

    1. Ikr! There were plenty of times when I lived in Ohio I wished I had a tauntaun. lol It's not horrible here and the temps are rising. It'll all be melted soon. :)

  2. I'm glad to hear you're doing okay with the winter storm!!! 50 degrees will be awesome to thaw everything out!!

OMG - Angel... I miss that show! I actually liked it as much as Buffy. Call me crazy!!

Stay warm and have a great week!!!

    1. The weather is just crazy. lol

I'm not much of an Angel fan, though I loved season 5. Probably because I'm a fan of Spike. lol I like David Boreanaz much better as Booth on Bones. :)

  3. You made me want to watch Angel, now, too! I've never watched supernatural, actually, in the past few years, I've watched a lot less TV to have time to read :)
Your new books look great, you went on a freebie treasure hunt this past week, did you?
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

    1. We're bopping back and forth between Angel and Buffy. I'm not looking forward to season 4 of Angel. I think there were only 1 or 2 episodes I liked in that season. But I loved season 5. I'm curious to see if my husband agrees. :)

I went from no books last week to well, an overload this week. lol

  4. I grabbed a few of those freebies this week too! I definitely remember grabbing Cupid and The Curse of Gremdon, not sure about the others.

If you've got all reviews through Feb. good to go, I think you're doing better than like 90% of bloggers. Definitely better than me. I don't even know *what* books I'm reviewing in Feb. yet lol.

    1. I hope those two are good. They look like they will be. *fingers crossed*

I'm trying really hard to stay ahead this year. It helps that I went from reviewing every day to just 3 days a week. So far, so good. :)

  5. LOL re Mother Nature! And well done on getting ahead with your reviews, I'm just about keeping my head over water and can't wait to start stocking some up again.
I like the look of London Large, even though it does look menacing! Happy reading :)

    1. I have a stockpile of graphic novel reviews I can slip in if needed, but I'm trying to get my memes all in a row. Feb is just about done and now I can start working on March. *whew* After flying by the seat of my pants for so long, I like having stuff ready ahead of time. :)

  6. I've been away a few weeks, so I'm just learning today about those snow storms and power outages in the US (that SW pic is funny !). We had a few cold days here in France, finally, with temperatures below zero but starting tomorrow, we're heading back up to the 50-60° ! The weather is crazy/the Earth is protesting, depending on your politics. Anyway, I watched some Buffy yesterday :D Have a great week :)

    1. I can't remember the weather being so crazy, but I have no doubt a large contributor is the Industrial Age.

Yay for Buffy! I love that show so much more than Angel. lol We're trying to watch nearly all of season 3 before we go back to season 6 of Buffy.

  7. Wow.. You've got February almost set up? I'm jealous!! I've only got January, and not even completely.
I love Angel. I definitely need to re-watch that show again.
    Have a great week ;)

    1. I'm not sure how it happened, but yes I do. LOL

I love Buffy more, but I do love season 5 of Angel. I know, I know, it's because I'm a Spike fan. :D

  10. LOL on Mother Nature. She sure has been in a bad mood. :D

Supernatural marathons are fun, stock up on popcorn!

Would you write my reviews for me? Pretty please?

    1. She needs an O. Or more than one. Just sayin'. :D

I have lots of popcorn! I need more Supernatural marathons because we still haven't seen seasons 9 or 10! I swear I'm going to start watching without hubby or Trip. Ok, I won't. But I'm tempted. lol

No. Well, maybe if you make me some soap. ;)

  11. Yay for new memes! Excited to see what she has in store for ya. She is a creative woman :D Yes, our weather is supposed to heat back up to the fifties, too. This weather is so confusing!

Seriously, someone needs to do something about Mother Nature. *sigh*

  12. I am glad to hear that even with the cold and snow at least you didn't lose power. I saw soem snow pictures on facebook and wow that's a lot of snow that's falling there. No snow here yet in the Netherlands.

That's awesoem you got most of february posts set-up. I only have the first week set-up when it comes to reviews, I am doing well with my other type of posts, but with reviews being two weeks ahead is a lot.

I am looking forward to see the memes graphics Michelle designed for you, I love her designs! Have a great week!

    1. We were lucky. We only got about 2 inches and no freezing rain, so win for us. lol

I was actually quite surprised when I sat down to schedule reviews and noticed I nearly filled up Feb! Only a few left to do and I can start on March. *falls over in faint* ;)

I love them! I didn't have good graphics for my memes and now they're so shiny! *bounces in chair*

  13. I have family on the East Coast who are up to their ears in snow. I'm very glad that I'm not them though I'm not really enjoying the inch that we did get. My blood is way to thin for temperatures this low. I need to watch Supernatural! People keep telling me I need to and I think I'd really like it but I keep stalling for some reason. Have a great week!

    ReplyDelete

    1. I'm thankful we're not up to our ears becasue NC cannot handle a little bit of snow let alone a lot. lol

O.m.g...you totally need to start! Maybe you're stalling because there's too many seasons? Or maybe you're stalling because you're afraid you'll start and then no one will see you again until you finish season 10. lolol I'm telling you, those Winchester boyus are just so...*sigh* And in season 4 when Castiel is added it becomes a trifecta of nomminess! And it's not just nomminess. It's intense, supernatural, funny, interesting and heartbreaking on more than one occasion. In fact, it's everything I love in books. :)

  14. That is funny about Mother Nature! She is definitely PMSing on the East Coast. She's moody in California too, rainy and then sunny days. Strange weather lol. I can't wait to see what Michelle created for you. Have a great week!

  15. I need to work on catching up on some reviews as well. Heck, I still have books from last year that I'm hoping to share my thoughts on. LOL! Have a great week and happy reading!!

    1. For the most part it missed us, too. There were a lot of people getting freezing rain which truly sucks. I'd rather have a ton of snow than freezing rain. Whenever we get freezing rain we lose power.

    1. I hate freezing rain. When we get it we can be guaranteed the power will go out. Grrr!

  19. Good suggestion for Mother Nature! LOL I'm glad you didn't lose power from the storm I've been watching on the news, and it looks terrible in the northeast. Looks like you have some great books to read while hibernating!

    1. Ikr? LOL Yeah, I think it gathered moisture as it went and dumped it after it went over us. If we had gotten that much snow NC would be in a state of panic. The state just isn't equipped for that kind of snow dumpage. I mean, we hardly got anything and they're still trying to clear secondary roads. As someone who grew up in Ohio, I just roll my eyes.
