AVR News Update
Hello and Happy Sunday!
On the Home Front: I hope everyone who celebrates Thanksgiving had a wonderful one. My husband had to work for the first time ever. He went in at 6:30am and got home at 8:00pm. Since he works at a manufacturing facility and they only had a skeleton crew there I'm going to go ahead and call them fucktardian asshats. Fucking greedy ass corporations. As if staying open that ONE day, without even a full crew, made a big fucking difference. *deep breath* Ok, it's over. Moving on. We managed to get the house decorated for Christmas. I can officially read my Christmas stories now and not feel weird about it. From here on out it will be a sprint to get the Christmas shopping and wrapping done before Christmas Eve. After the last two weeks of running around from app't to app't every single day, I think I can relax since I only have a few things on the calendar this coming month. Thank the Jammie Gods!
Touching Nature: Only insomuch as we picked out a cut Christmas tree and got a free 12" wreath. Mmmm...pine. It's beginning to smell a lot like Christmas!
Book News: Oh, yes, I did. I signed up for the free 30-day trial of KU just so I could get Christmas-themed monster porn. You're welcome. Or, you will be on 12/7.
Don't Touch That Dial!: Thanksgiving weekend we always watch Scrooged, so there was that. And last night hubby and I managed to squeeze in Buffy Season 6: Episodes 1-3 before the kids got antsy wanting to play Xbox. Whew. I'm really starting to feel the need for a Netflix binge. And soon.
At the Flicks: Nope, but hoping to see Spectre in 2 weeks. Then at the end of December will be Star Wars: The Force Awakens. So, saving the pennies because even going to the matinée isn't cheap when you have 5 people going. At least our theater gives free popcorn and pop refills.
Cyberspace Playground: Adam Sandler's 4th Chanukah song.
Randomness: My oldest son made this in 1995. He is now 30 yrs old and I still put it on the tree. :D

I already had Book 1 in the Charon Family Business, but it was also free.
I could read Christmas books in April :) no decorations needed lol but I am a strange girl, so there is that.
ReplyDeleteI have a fake tree and usually get those things that make the tree smell real but I forgot so I have been burning candles to get the christmas tree smell. I do want to buy one of those little real trees to put in the house but I am scared the dog will pee on it.
You make me want to binge watch Buffy, I have seen them a million times but I think I need a marathon soon.
Lots of great books this week I see. So looking forward to Monster Porn Christmas books.
Have a great week, Carol! Happy Reading! ox
Yep. You're a strange girl. lol I can't read Christmas stuff until the leaves start falling, at the earliest. Preferably though after Thanksgiving. :)
DeleteI have a few pine candles I need to burn. It makes the house smell extra Christmas-y. I also burn cinnamon ones, but I think I'm out of that scent. Must make a candle run.
I'm dying to binge on Buffy/Angel. And Arrow. And Supernatural. We just haven't had the time for tv lately. Grrrr!
There is a disappointing selection of Christmas-themed monster porn. Maybe I should just write my own for next year? lololol
Sorry to hear your hubby had t owork- that's asinine. 6:30 -8? Good grief that's a long ass day. I don't know why ANYONE is open on that day- people should be w/ families.
ReplyDeleteNetflix is my life lately.
I hear ya on the movies, it's crazy expensive.
He works a 12 hr day which usually ends up being 13-14 hrs. But he only works 2 on, 2 off, 3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off. So one week he's working 5 days and the next is only 2. And his scheduled day fell on Thanksgiving. Why they didn't just close is anyone's guess. It was ridiculous.
DeleteChristmas monster porn, I <3 you so very much right now. :)
ReplyDeleteThat sucks about your husband's work and dang that was a long day. :(
I've read several Christmas stories but I can read them any time. But decorations and music wait until after Thanksgiving. I've been enjoying the music this weekend.
Enjoy your jammie time and books!
You'll be getting 4 selections for Christmas. LOL
DeleteHis scheduled days are long, but he gets days off, so it works out, but on Thanksgiving? Really?! Grr!
The Way looks like it will be a good one. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI hope so! :) Thanks!
DeleteOh how annoying your husband had to work and I completely agree... how much extra would they have gotten done that day that couldn't wait until the next or a day or two later? I bet the company owners had a holiday!
ReplyDeleteExactly. So frustrating! And all of the front office was off. They only made machine workers and an ass't manager come in. Such BS!
Deleteaww i am sorry your husband had to work, it feels like more and more people get pulled to work Thanksgiving lately, its a shame
ReplyDeleteI can understand that there are certain workers that have to work no matter what the day, such as emergency workers, doctors, nurses, etc, but a manufacturing facility is not an emergency *and* they weren't even running a full crew! Grrr!
