Duke
Marlow works for Paranormal Security and Intelligence Operatives (PSI-Ops).
He’s also an Alpha werewolf. Alive for a couple hundred years, he hates change.
Well, he hates pretty much everything and everybody. Especially technology.
When he and his team are sent to Paris
to watch a Dr. Mercy Deluca, learn everything she knows about the capture and
detention of a former teammate and then eliminate her, Duke takes one look at
her picture and suddenly decides she must not die. Confused about his gut
feelings it isn’t until he meets her face-to-face that he realizes she’s his
mate. And no way will he allow her to be in any danger. They may need her to
extract James Hagan, but that doesn’t mean he has to like it. This mission
could possibly be the death of him.
Ok,
I have a favorite new author. When I picked this story up through the Kindle
Lending Library, I knew it was a book 1 in a series. What I didn’t know was
that it’s a spin off from another series. Of course, being the way I am that
means I need to go back and read the books from the original series, but not
just because of my series reading quirks. I need to do it because I love this
story. It’s fast-paced, quirky and full of humor. It has many paranormal
elements and some steamy stuff. The characters could use a bit more oomph in
their personalities, but for the length of this story I’ll take what was put
out there about them. Duke is a curmudgeon and Mercy is a feisty nerd. They’re
great together! All I have left to say is: I want more!
It's derived from Immortal ops, probably ? I got a boxed set of the 4 first books 2 years ago but haven't read it yet, I'm glad it looks that good, though !
ReplyDeleteIt is. Lucky! I have book 1 of Immortal Ops, but I need the rest. :D I decided to make my Feb KLL pick book 2 of this series. :)
DeleteLOL curmudgeon and feisty nerd sounds great :D I've seen her name around a lot but not made it to try them out. One day hopefully :)
ReplyDeleteIt's a great read! Like I needed another author to add to my list, but I'll make room. Somehow. :D
DeleteSounds like my kind of book. I'll add it to my wish list.
ReplyDeleteI've had some blerg reads lately so I'm very much looking forward to book 2 in this series and book 1 in the original. :D
DeleteSounds like one I would love too. Since I'm like you about spin off, I guess I need to go find the original series now too! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteIt's not that anything really feels missing, but well, you know what I mean. LOL
