AVR News Update
Hello and Happy Sunday!

Um, okay, so yeah, this has been my week:
That cough kicked my ass. I got very little sleep for several nights and now that I am finally sleeping through the night again I'm playing catch up on sleep. So I did nothing. Absolutely nothing. All week. I can function fairly well under most circumstances, but take away my sleep and I'm a wreck. And while I slept all night Friday night I really should have gone back to bed yesterday morning after hubby went to work, but I didn't. Bad decision. So this morning I'm going back to bed as soon as I do this post (hubby is off to work again). And when I get up I should be rested. Then I can go around visiting, get caught up on comments and write up some reviews. Plus, I need to pick out my monster porn for Monster Porn Monday which is approaching lickety split.

We're staying home for Thanksgiving, as we do every year, but Anna's friend Jessica is coming, so we'll have an extra teen in the house. We'll do food, football and our yearly viewing of Scrooged on Thursday and the rest of the weekend will be spent decorating for Christmas and hunting for a tree. No, I do not shop on Black Friday or at all. We go out in the evening to get a tree, usually on Saturday, and that's it. Hopefully it won't rain. If it doesn't we may have a bonfire, too.

In other news, I've done no reading in November from NetGalley as I had planned. Oh, well. I'm not going to sweat it. I'll get to them. I have some books planned for December that I'm going to call Stocking Stuffers. Many of my fellow InD'tale Reviewers are authors, so I thought I would spotlight some of their books. Keep an eye out for them. :)

Lastly, I'm 25 books away from reaching my Goodreads Challenge. I do not anticipate falling short, so hopefully I won't. *fingers crossed*

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. So sorry you are not feeling well still :( I can't function without any sleep and sometimes I can do a lot more when I have less sleep. It's weird but so am I lol

We go to family on Thanksgiving, this year we are spending with my family instead of my husbands. (thank god, shhhh) ;)

We also decorate after Thanksgiving but we have a fake tree its easier for us since we live on the second floor and it would be something trying to get a tree up the stairs...all the needles all over, OMG it would be a mess :)

Have a great week Carol! I hope you are better rested this week. Happy Reading!

  2. Sorry you've been sick - but listen to your body and rest up! I can function on an incredibly small amount of sleep (I average 4 hours a night) but take away my delicate balance and there's hell to pay. Sounds like a great week ahead - yet another reason to get rested! (is my mom showing lol?) - have a good time! Happy Thanksgiving!

    1. Only 4 hrs?! *disgusted look* I wish I could sleep only 4 hrs. When I was delivering the paper I lived for years on 4 hrs/night, but I was a zombie. Ugh!

  3. We do not shop on Black Friday either, but every other year we head to Sam's Club on Black Friday where my daughter works and renew our cell phones and get new phones. They have awesome .96 cent sales. Plus we get to see our girl. WE go, get in and get out. We will spend the weekend decorating and watching movies. Have a good time and rest up!

    1. We need new cell phones. Well, we don't *need* new ones except my daughter whose screen is black now. But may as well upgrade if it doesn't cost us anything. Hope you had fun! :)

Every month I tell myself I'm gonna read more of my NetGalley copies, but I never do :(

  5. I laughed out loud when I spotted that picture! I'm happy you are starting to get better. It's seems like everyone is catching something. I hope I can skip the flu this year. I spent Christmas in the hospital last year because of it.
In a perverse way, I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't get Netgalley books read all of the time. I feel so guilty about that.

  8. So sorry to hear about your cough and glad to hear you're being sensible and trying to get some rest. Good luck with your GoodReads Challenge! Last year I ended up reading the last book at 10PM on New Year's Eve (we're party people can't you tell?) but I made it! Luckily I'm in a little better shape this year. Your December Stocking Stuffer books sound interesting. I will be keeping an eye out for them. Have a great Thanksgiving! I'm not a crowds person either so I'll be avoiding Black Friday as well!
