AVR News Update
Hello and Happy Sunday!

It's Memorial Day weekend and I just want to say Thank You to those who have given everything. Our freedom to bitch and complain about our government comes with a price that I will never forget.

In other news...hmmmm, there's not a whole lot to tell. We had two different HVAC people out here this past week. One at $8000 and one at $4100. Guess which guy we're going with? Not just because he's nearly half the price, but he comes to us by word-of-mouth from a satisfied customer (a guy my hubby works with~Thanks, Tyrone!). We're waiting on financing. The long weekend means we won't know until Tues if we qualified for the loan, but it shouldn't be a problem. After that, the HVAC guy says he's a week out, so let's hope the weather cooperates and it's not too damn hot until it can be installed.

I have the rest of May's posts done and I'm burnt out. I was feeling frustration building up in my chest so I decided it was time to re-read an old favorite or two. I devoured LKH's Guilty Pleasures and The Laughing Corpse on Friday & Saturday and I'm going to read Circus of the Damned today before going back to my other books. I needed the break and I feel better for it. Plus, scrappy Anita before the writing got shitty and, you know, Edward. Love me some Edward.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. Good Luck with the HVAC guy. That sounds so frustrating.

I just took a little break from reading to read over a friends book. It was a nice little break and now I feel like I wont go into a reading slump over the summer :)

I hope you have a great week!

    1. It is. lol

I need a break once in awhile. I just read so much. It's like anything else though, even stuff we love. We need to break occasionally. :)

  2. Even though you're burnt out it must feel good to have the rest of May's post done? I need to get my act together and do that too.
Hope you have a good week and enjoy your new and old books.

    1. It does! :D I'm looking forward to a break. The last few months I've overscheduled myself on tours. Time to dial it back even though there are so many lovely books out there. :)

  4. I miss scrappy Anita. I gave away all of my LKH books so if I want a re-read, I have to hit up the library. Good luck on getting the loan and I hope the weather cooperates.

    1. Me, too. She's gotten too powerful and now it just doesn't seem like there's anything that can touch her. Where's the danger? The peril? Boring. Not to mention the writing is crap. Pages of filler, wheels that fall off the plot and repetitive sex scenes/phrasing. I can't seem to just give up on her though. Anita Blake is my Achilles Heel.

  5. Happy Memorial Day and good luck with the HVAC. It can be a drag without AC, hopefully you guys won't roast in the meanwhile! We lost our AC last summer and it was a bitch until the new AC was in. :) LOL we were like how did people survive without AC?

    Have a great weekend.

    1. We've been lucky. Only a few days out of many that have been horribly hot and bleck. I grew up without A/C in Ohio. It just didn't seem as hot back then. lol

  7. Ugh hate HVAC stuff. It's always so expensive but glad you were able to find someone with a good recommendation and a good price! Looks like you got some interesting books. Have a great week!

  9. Happy Memorial Day weekend! Sometimes you just need to go back to an old favorite to get in the reading mood again.

  10. Word of mouth is the best recommendation and I always do it now after having a bad experience with someone I called out from an ad in the paper - charged a lot of money for shoddy work.
Very true words about Memorial Day, we all have a lot to be thankful for.
Have a great week and Happy Reading.

  11. You expressed an interest in joining the library books readathon which is starting June 9th so I was coming over to remind you. If you don't want to join that is totally fine also. Looks like you had another great week. I'm sorry you are burnt out on posts.

    1. Oh! Thanks for the reminder! I'll go check it out. I'm taking a break this week, so that should recharge my batteries. :)

  12. That HVAC guy was certainly a good choice on your part! The best opinion you'd get on tradespeople are via referrals. If a friend of yours was satisfied with the services, then that's a pretty good clue on who to get. Nothing feels better than reading a book in a comfortable environment, so getting that HVAC unit of yours should be in order once you get a loan. Good luck!

    1. You are so correct on both counts (referrals and reading comfortably). :D We're all fixed and revved up, thank goodness! Thanks for stopping by. :)
