AVR News Update
Hello and Happy Sunday!

To anyone who has mothered a human or non-bipedal I wish you a

Mother Nature however does not get a happy Mother's Day from me. She has been a real bitch here in NC. It's been way too hot for May and our A/C is not working properly. We had to fill it with freon last year (expensive) because it developed a leak and since freon is no longer used as a coolant we will either have to bend over and pay through the ass for another fill up or replace the system. I'm not sure which yet until I get a tech out here to look. At the heat pump. Not my ass. So, until then it's been stuffy in the house even with fans in the windows. This house was not designed for maximum cross-breeze effect. I wish I had an old fashioned attic fan. But we have no attic so I'm not sure how that would work.

Anyway...moving on. Other than reading, reviewing and trying to get caught back up on posts I have nothing else to report other than this final pic of my Mother's Day pretties. The Kindle Paperwhite I told you about last week. The flowers and O.M.Gawd Delicious strawberries are from my oldest son. My daughter bought me a set of spoons I've been needing and kept forgetting to get. They aren't in the pic because she gave them to me late last night. Also, this morning when I got up to pack hubby's lunch for work, I noticed all the towels were folded, some blankets were were put up and the dishwasher had been emptied. She was a busy girl last night after I went to bed! I wonder if the boys helped her? Hmmm...somehow I doubt it. LOL

I have an urge to bake some nommies today. I have a chocolate pastry recipe I think I'll try and maybe some brownies wouldn't go amiss. Hubby also brought home some cookie dough from some fund raiser at work, so maybe I'll get that out of the freezer, too. As for dinner...I have no idea what that'll be. Maybe I should make today a Fend For Yourself day? Sounds good to me. :)

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. I have a trusty small electric fire that doesn't give me huge bills and a desk top fan when it gets too warm. If I open the windows on a really warm day I have to put a bug screen up coz I hate things that fly and creep around! Enjoy your books!

  2. Happy Mother's Day!!! The flowers are pretty and yummy strawberries. If I told my family to fend for themselves this house would fall apart lol

I have my AC on in my room, it's a window AC and I told my husband if this weather keeps up he will be putting the rest in before the week is over. I hate the heat, not my favorite time of year but I do love swimming which doesn't really make sense since I love cold weather.

GOod luck with your AC, hope you can get it fixed before it starts getting even hotter.

    Have a great week!!!

  4. " until I get a tech out here to look. At the heat pump. Not my ass." - That made me laugh so hard. I hope you can get the AC fixed easily and cheaply. Mine isn't working right but my temps are a little cooler than yours, for now anyway.

It's YOUR day, they should definitely fend for themselves. :D But make yourself some nommies. :) If it's not too hot.

Ooo, you had fun at NetGalley. It is such a candy store. :D Enjoy!

  5. We had that problem last year, had to replace our AC and it was expensive! Had to be done, we were sweating our a$$es off of course it went out right in the middle of summer! Yeah fans don't really do it, not when it's that hot. We had fans going when it went out and the house was still in the 80's, Ugh.

Good luck with that and hope things cool off for ya.

  7. Too hot… you know what, it seems like only a few weeks ago that you posted pictures of the trees all icy, wow, and now the first half of the year is almost over! Luckily, it never gets that hot here in England to be needing AC, and if it does, it will rain and be cold within a couple of days usually.
Those choccies are to die for, enjoy :)

    1. They turned out really well and were pretty easy to make. For an easier and faster way next time though I'm going to skip the chocolate chips and get a King Size Hershey bar so I can just snap a row off and use it. Much better than arranging the chips just right. :D

  15. Ugh! Not cool about the air conditioner - the air conditioner in our truck doesn't work either (though not as big of a deal as the house, but I can sympathize). I hope it's not too expensive to fix! I hope you enjoyed your mother's day goodies (and that paper white is really a fantastic mom's day gift!!)
